Mists of Pandaria Media Blowout [NDA lifted!]

I just don't see the Undead as leaders. Sylvanas is slowly being built up into Lich King 2.0, and none of the Horde races would willingly follow the Undead. It'll be some new Orc, or Thrall, or Vol'jin.

Yeah, Undead won't happen. None of the Horde races are really friendly with them and like you say Sylvanas is quickly becoming Lich King 2.0.

I honestly think we'll see the return of Thrall, with Deathwing out of the way the world should be getting close to normal again and I assume he'd want to settle down in an actual home/city with his pregnant wife and all. It would also lead directly into even more Horde drama/stories since Thrall would not be cool with what Sylvanas is doing at all.

All that aside, fingers crossed that Blizzard will make heroic raids in MoP more akin to T11 than the travesty that was Firelands and Dragonsoul, will probably determine how much I play.

These hype threads usually get me going, but.. This will be the first WoW expansion I will miss the launch of. Feels like it was made by Zynga.

I'll have to read more about destruction warlocks but at first glance... who the hell is going to want one in a raid or group ?

Holy shit, the new update is Kung-Fu Panda???

"Pandaren" means "Panda person" in Mandarin Chinese. So quaint. :P

Really interested in seeing video of the Pokémon mode.

I just don't have faith in Blizzard releasing new content that will last more then a couple of months anymore. Sure the new areas look fantastic but so did zones like Vashj'ir, but once you finish quests, no reason at all to go back. Also, with how Cataclysm closed out, their definition of "challenge" means jack shit now. Waited for months for 4.3 and the dungeons were run dry day 1 and after a couple of weeks, Dragon's Soul itself. When that is the content provided that is suppose to last many months and doesn't even last 1......MoP will fall under the same category, which is obvious by the crap like Pokemon they are adding in to actually give people something to do.

Today, a good buddy of mine stopped playing the game. She said she was bored of the game because "outside of raids, there's nothing else to do except for chatting".

Adding Pokémon and other gimmicky stuff is just a good thing. I don't want my friends to quit.

Not everyone burns content at the same pace, just because the uber ubers burn it and get bored, doesn't mean everyone doesn't get more time out of it.

Yeah... but normal DS was borderline unacceptable. When casuals are doing 8/8 just two weeks after release, then you know there's a problem :)

This expansion looks awesome as hell. I'm totally stoked. Though, not much going on for my two mains...rogue and death knight. Challenge modes and scenarios will rule me. Can't wait.

The complaints about difficulty are misplaced. I LOVED the new heroics in Cata thanks to the challenge and difficulty (and this is coming from a healer, who did ZG & ZA repeatedly at launch in min lvl gear), but they weren't appropriate for the LFD system. They were best in guild groups like mini-raids, but for PUGs they led to a lot of despair/quitting for casuals.

I hope there's new up-beat music when you start challenge modes :D Ridge Racer-theme, GO!

while I don't play WoW anymore I'm still a pretty big fan of the lore. that final raid siege of orgrimmar makes my inner alliance fanboy happy.

The only complaint I and my guild ever had was how easy everything had become.

My guild can't get past spine. I had to get my Madness title in a PUG one week. Never underestimate how many people have trouble with shit.

I'm sure there's casuals doing that but they're a drop in the bucket of casuals. Most of my friends have never raided outside of LFR (which is a godsend for them).

Out of curiosity, which server are you playing on FieryBalrog?

I also have no problems with difficulty in dungeons. I welcome it most of the time. However, the dungeons were cheap (lag a little...dead. Didn't move exactly when boss put that nasty debuff on you...dead). I don't like those kinds of mechanics. Even with that, no one wanted to run, so people were waiting over an hour to get a group only to join a group, wipe on the first boss, and the group would break up. All that time and nothing to show for it. The game is played to have fun, and there simply wasn't a lot of fun being had by a lot of people.

For this reason, I'm totally okay with the three new dungeons. They're relatively easy, but they don't create a ton of drama. For dungeons you're going to be farming (running every day or 7 times in one sitting), the difficulty curve needs to be in the right place so that people will actually run them.

There should be another level of dungeon that isn't part of the LFG system that is on par with the original Cataclysm dungeons, but they can only be run once a week or every three days or something. This way those who want that challenge can have it.

Yeah, that's exactly what challenge mode is supposed to be, which is why I'm stoked for them.

That said, I never had as much fun with heroics as I did at Cata launch. For my kind of player, it was awesome. Not the horrible trashfest wipe-a-thon that was BC heroics (omg), and not the literal faceroll that was Wrath heroics.

So where's all the Pokémon shit?

Media Presentation - Pet Battle System
For years blizzard has wanted to have mini games in World of Warcraft. They have also always wanted something more for pets but they didn't not want them to be mandatory. The pet battle system allows a perfect solution for both, and gives players something to do after dungeons, raids, challenges, scenarios, and battlegrounds.
The pet UI has been fully updated. On the left you will see a list of all the pets you have, and the ones you don’t as well as where to find those pets. When you click on a pet, you have, it will pull up a pet card with all the information on the pet
Pets will have health, levels, attack, defense, and movement speed (which is an initiative type of value) . Pets will also have 6 abilities, of which they can choose three of. It will work just like the players talent system. Two per row, can only pick one per row. You will be able to change these outside of battle. You unlock more abilities by leveling the pet up
You can name all your pets, and they will be shared across all characters.
When you enter a battle, you will see both players along with that player’s pets lined up in front of them.
You will be able to switch your pets between the ones you have selected mid fight. They also now run up to the enemy pet to attack it!
When you challenge another player in the world, it'll just kind of smoothly zoom in to this view. When you finish, it'll just pull right back on out to your normal gameplay view.
There will also be random critters and NPCs out in the world you can fight to level up your pets. As well as a queuing system to queue and fight other players.
There are roughly 100 wild pets across Azeroth to collect.
PvP pet battles are going to be a fun and causal. They do not want losing to feel like a big deal because that's really what drives a lot of people out of it. They will only track the number of wins and not the number of loses. You will also not see the other players name, and the players can not talk to one another. It should feel like your playing against another NPC (that just happens to be very smart).

That was my server too!

Sadly, it's been so long since I subbed that my characters are off the armory.

This search is as close as I could get. The LS Worgen was actually my main, but I xfered it to arena with some alliance friends. The druid is an alt, and The level 77 is some random.

Are the Flying Hellfish still running that server?

Awesome another Kiljaedan gaffer lol. Just resubbed myself and surprised to see the Hellfish are still around. I don't recognize any of the Alliance guilds anymore.

I transferred to KJ in early '08, haven't heard of them.

The big trade chat drama on the server is about Ruinous, alliance side, the joke/zerg/dickwad giant guild of the times.

Also some Horde multiboxer who runs 50+ accounts and raids SW every day trolling Alliance. lol.

I think Dreamworks should blow the whistle on Blizzard :P

Seriously. Do Blizzard and Dreamworks cooperated to create this Panda world? Everything comes from the Kung Fu Panda animation... Cooking Pandas, trying to reach the "Inner Peace"

The quality of the new content definitely looks up there. But I think it's time to lower that subscription price, Blizzard. If you do, I might be tempted to return for a while, but with D3 and GW2... it's still up in the air.

Yeah, Ruinous is actually on my SWTOR server.

I remember them coming into Ogrimmar with 400 people and lagging it so bad the zone was unplayable until the server would finally crash.

Hellfish were/are? one of the best guilds on that server for PvE/PvP combined. Cuties Only too, but they xfered to some low pop server to avoid server queues.

Expansion seems a lot more conservative and safe than I figured it'd be. Seemed like there'd be big shake ups to world content and PvP and it all comes across as very standard. They picked the safest and lamest of the new bgs they talked about and the omg world content shit is just re adding world bosses and group quests?

It's strange because they keep talking about getting players into the world but don't seem to know now, I mean even the new group quests seem like instances and revolve around queues like normal dungeons.

I dunno, I think I'm even less interested than I figured I'd be. I just wish everything didn't have to be so fucking easy outside of raiding and that they'd do more with casual Pvp. Even if I want to come back just to devour the new content I know that I'll just get annoyed at all the same shit, especially with Wrath style heroics.

I guess it's just not for me anymore, shame, the world looks really gorgeous this pass.

I think china should sue dreamworks
Well i thought "Kung Fu Panda" had something original...

But after I discovered that the Pom Poko racoon "abilities" with their scrutums don't comes from Miyazaki's mind but from the Japanese tradition, nothing more surprise me.
