Green Bay. You're on the clock no?
Green Bay Packers select DE/LB Whitney Mercilus from Illinois. Packers are bound to fill departed C Scott Well's position with the flexible Evan Dietrich-Smith.
The Pack badly needed to generate pressure in the 2011 season so hopefully Merciless will aid the Packers ailing pass-rush and provide Defensive Coordinator Don Capers to mix up stud LB Clay Matthews a little more at the hollowed Lando Field.

Fuck you Ez. <3

If Sanchez can't get over this then he rides the bench in shame. You can't keep Tebow off your back then you don't deserve to be the QB.

This is what Sanchez has always needed in his career. He has literally never, ever had a backup QB breathing down his neck. The corpse of Mark Brunell has been the backup QB for a while now. Maybe a little pressure can get Mark to get real for once. And if not then he can ride the bench.

I agree, and last year tons of people ITT were saying the same thing. Sanchez needs competition - needs to believe he's not the Golden Boy - to thrive. He's proven it. We'll see if he can actual adapt to a constant pressuring and not just a random sit down or threat of a benching now and again.

Why does Eznark hate that guy? Because he plays for Illinois?

I'd expect Vilma out for multiple games based in his admitted gunning for Brent in the conference championship.

It's hard to imagine GODell not taking guys out for the whole season.

Who hit Kurt Warner, was that Ellis? He's done. Will Smith? Done. Harper, Jenkins? I dunno.

Holy shit, I think my jaw dropped at Sean Payton being suspended for the whole season.
EIGHT MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS

Alex Smith intervew:

Q: When you went to Miami, what were your emotions going on that first trip of free agency for you?

SMITH: I’d never been to Miami Beach and I thought it was a good way to go see it.

Q: Yesterday Harbaugh said things are exactly the same between you and him. What’s your answer to that question? Where do things stand between you and the 49ers, you and Harbaugh?

SMITH: As good as they’ve always been and getting better. The thing from Day 1 when I first met Coach Harbaugh is he’s always been upfront and always been honest with me. He’s continued to do that during this entire process. That’s one of the reasons I love playing for him, so no question. Now, obviously looking forward to having an offseason with him.

Q: Was the organization upfront with you as far as their pursuit of Peyton Manning?

SMITH: They were, yes. Jim and Trent were the ones that informed me when this was happening, that they were going to look into that. Obviously it was a little unexpected, but that’s part of the deal. This is free agency and this is the NFL, and those things happen.

Q: Were you offended by that?

SMITH: Not offended at all (emphatically). I would’ve relished the opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback job with Peyton Manning.

Q: What was the issue for you, Alex? Why didn’t you sign it as soon as possible?

SMITH: The issues came more from the structure than anything. Really, the money wasn’t an issue. Those of you guys that know me know what type of guy I am. Money is great for security, but I’m not a guy that has a bunch of flashy cars. Other than taking care of my family, it’s not something that means a whole lot to me. Really just a matter of working out the contract to get it to where we felt good about it.

lololol @ some of those responses. harbs has taught alex well! I LOVE YOU ALEX!!!

The wording of Goodell's statement makes it sound like he's going to start sniping off the players who were involved next. Shit's about to go doooooown.

He is--the original story talked about how the players weren't getting suspended yet because NFLPA said not to until they completed a separate investigation, which is apparently either near finished or finished.

This thing isn't over yet.

As for Payton, I LOVE the punishment. The guy loses $8 million this year because it's an unpaid suspension. That's what happens when you have knowledge of it but don't stop it.

The league wants to put a stop to these bounty programs quick. This punishment will easily do it.

Yeah, like a fucking rose. They only were spurned by Peyton, Flynn, Jeff Fisher, and even Harbaugh last year. They have Matt Moore and a broken back David Garrard. Like a fucking rose. Mark Sanchez is obviously the worst QB to ever wear spikes.

You say the dumbest shit sometimes. Such a troll.

What they dont have is Tim Tebow

LIKE A ROSE

i go every year. let me know when you go. i'm gonna be crying half the time when tebow and sanchize go 0/13 and 0/15 in completions.

Will do. I'd like to go to all 3 teams, but I'll settle for 2 of 3, or just the Jets. it's going to be a wild offseason.

Feel bad for both Tebow and Sanchez, tough to have success in this environment.

Missed any conversation of our pick, but he was one of my top guys for us if available. I approve this message.

I don't feel bad for Tebow at all. If there is one guy he can outplay right now in camp it's definitely Sanchez. He can win this job.

For Sanchez I don't give a shit. The guy has shown nothing in his career to make you feel bad for him. He's done nothing to earn this starting QB job. He should have to earn his spot as the starting QB this camp. And he will have to earn it.

In other news:
Christopher Smith ‏ @SDchargersdude

NFL considering adding turnovers to automatic replay review (like scoring plays; takes out of coaches' hands -- no need for challenges).
Christopher Smith ‏ @SDchargersdude

NFL also considering a partial-season Injured Reserve where you could bring player back during season.

Other possibilities: moving the trade deadline and extending recent playoff OT rules to regular season.

In a way I'm kind of happy that this happened because it will weed out all the hsitty bandwagon Saints fans. Not that there are many left to begin with. but that's fine with me. I'll be the only Saints fan left on GAF if necessary.

It matters because you just extended Sanchez. And now you trade for a QB who will lead to a media shitstorm whenever Sanchez falters. It's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Sanchez is going to love being assaulted by Tebow fans all the time.

Was going to post the same thing.

As bad as Sanchez is, Tebow is worse. Why bring him in when Sanchez is getting called out by his own teammates, has 0 confidence, and if he gained any confidence from the deal he just signed last week he surely lost it now.

One bad pass and the fans will all turn on Sanchez.

I hope it goes through cause I want to watch this mess. Jets are a joke of a franchise. This move is just to grab the headlines and steal some spotlight away from big brother Giants. Pathetic.

If Packers-GAF splinters, I'll have to think long and hard about which faction I should join.

The one drafting somebody for defense.

We've had worse divisions (when half the fanbase couldn't see Favre for the jerk he was and bought those awful Viking/Packer jersey combinations)

There won't be an open competition for the QB spot, Tebow will be the wing QB.

Wonder what Sparano's been up to.

YES and YES. Trade deadline is WAY too early in the NFL.

Lions long snapper is returning.

Also: Buahahahahahahahahah at Payton being banned for the year. Was hoping for a cap reduction too.

And I can't believe I missed you guys while gaf was down.

Don't ask guys...

Timmy's journal May 6th, 2012

First day of practice with rex and the guys was fun. Mark was supposed to meet up with us afterwards for initiation. However, Rex said Mark had to met his girlfriend. Afterwards rex took me out for ice cream and to some place called a strip club. Girls showed their boobies and other private parts. I wasn't really feeling it. It's not really my scene. However, I met a male bartender that kept giving me a look. After a few drinks of this stuff called whiskey I started feeling different. Like my eyes were opened. When I looked back at the bartender I got this feeling... A feeling I must hold back. My father would hate me if he knew. After we left I told Rex about it and he told a man has these needs and that we shouldn't fight them. He said those feelings makes us the men we are and that I will be truly be happy if I follow them. For a guy that has a bad rep of being an asshole he is really understanding.

Did Brad Smith not work out for the Jets?

Jets want to reimplement a wildcat offense package, especially with Sparano in town. He would be a perfect fit for this package.

Christ you people act like every 4th round pick is guaranteed to get you a starting calibur player for the next 10 years.

What's more likely? Tebow as the starting QB as the Jets in two years or the Jets drafting anyone with that 4th round pick and having them be a starter?

Trading for Tebow is dumb. He's a worse QB than Sanchez. Maybe Sparano can do something but I doubt it. He looks like a one-hit wonder.

Holy crap, we signed Mark Anderson?

So. We have

Mark Anderson - Kyle Wiliams - Marcel Dareus - Mario Williams

Uh. Do we now have the best front 4 in the league? I say...probably.
