Seriously though, be wary of scams, folks. I know if I received an invitation, I'd probably tear into it like Christmas morning before giving it a rational thought.
And Jira, and Retro. And any of the other big players in this thread and other GW2 ones. You know, fan sites got invites. We're a GW2 community and we're going to have a big guild with a potentially large influence. We should count. Let's send a mass email/tweet to Anet.

Seriously though, enjoy living vicariously through your friend's Beta. I can't think of any questions that won't be answered in other places (Crafting stuff will get a nice write-up from Kill Ten Rats, for example) or that I want to find the answers to myself.
I'd be fine with just Jira getting in, he's been the wellspring of valuable information from which this thread has grown. If anybody deserves to have their support rewarded, it'd be him.
I'm fine waiting until the Pre-purchase beta events, it's not like we could gush about it now anyways.

Ah, I must have misread it, I was under the impression he had started it in /vg/ but had actually posted it over at the Guru forums. I'm glad it was the usual 4chan silliness rather than someone with that level of... erm.. enthusiasm... for seeing GW2guru bite the big one. Still, terrible forum, I hope it's just the usual batshit crazy vocal minority echo-chamber and not an actual sample of the GW2 community.

I'm doing this first and foremost for Jira but if I can include more of us, I will. I'm writing an email to Anet's community team regarding the amount of publicity GAF accumulates for their game thanks to Jira and the most active GW2 posters, and pointing out that fansites far less prominent than GAF were invited to participate in the beta.
I had originally planned to give Jira my invite if I got in and he didn't, but neither of us were invited. That's what all those cryptic posts about checking PMs and whatnot were about. /:

I would love to be included if we do actually go through with this. I know I haven't exactly posted too much, but I absolutely played the hell out of Guild Wars 1, I've loved the series and I've been waiting for this game for years since it's announcement. It's been a rocky ride, but it's been completely worth it. My anticipation for this game is pretty damn high and it looks amazing. I know it's going to be different to Guild Wars 1 but all of the improvements they've brought into this game is going to completely change the MMORPG genre. Give it a couple of years and you'll be seeing Korean grind fests that aren't point and click, pure hotbar or pure hack and slash but games that actually involve a level of skill that hasn't been present until now.

It's worth noting that Jira has actually been working hard on multiple fronts; his awesome GAF OP has duplicates spreading the good word at MMO Champ and GW2Guru. I'm shocked those alone didn't get him in.
I'm all for a GAF community email but I feel that it seems a little silly. The game is going to be available to prepurchase in a few weeks and you'll be guaranteed access to the beta at the end of that month.
I understand if you need to touch the game asap, as my partner is the exact same way and she is demanding all little details to be told to her, but it's not as if the game is going to run away and leave you behind.
And to be honest I'm not even sure why people are so keen on getting in to the beta in the first place. Bug testing is hardly the be all end all.

On that note, we need to dredge up the old "What are we going to call GAFGuild?" debate again since so many of us aren't in Beta and we don't have the kind of insane multi-page arguments over the smallest details that other communities do.
It's worth a shot and will only bring attention to our own community as a whole. If it gets some people in the beta from GAF, awesome! If not, hopefully it gets Jira in for all his work done with the thread. Not only on GAF, but other places as well.
On that note, I'll actually be putting up the thread for the GW2 GAFGuild over on the community thread in the next day or so. I wanted to wait till it was closer to the end of the month since the beta was going to be around that time. No idea how many of GAF got in (with NDA and all) but hopefully we get some good stuff out of it.

Since you can be in multiple guilds apparently (i remember reading this) perhaps just GAF or NeoGAF.
Something creative is fine with me though.
Yeah, you can multi-guild in GW2 so if you want to be part of a militaristic uber-guild, have a friends & family only guild, etc., you can do that and still be part of the GAFGuild.
I would be fine with just "NeoGAF", though we had a couple along the lines of "Gilded Age Front" that people seemed to like.
Creative is fine, but silliness kind of rubs me the wrong way. Mostly because I don't want a bad first impression and if you're running around with "Grandma Anal Festival" floating over your head...

That does work kinda well. "Believe" alone, or "True Believers" with the [GAF] tag after it might work too, though that borders on cheezy.

Pretty sure ANet confirmed there wouldn't be guild Capes or cloaks, but that you would be able to apply your guild symbol to weapons and armor. I'm hoping you can slap your symbol on a shield. I'm looking for the source now, will edit it in shortly (unless Jira beats me to it, and he probably will).
Guilds are easy to get into and you can be in more than one, so I figured I'd make one for the more "night time" players.

Yep, you can represent GAF and still be a part of any other community you want. The only exception is in WvW, where you can only represent your home server. If the guild you're representing isn't on your home server, I think it might require you to switch.
I'm looking over the Reddit interview they gave on WvW to see if it's spelled out in there, but I don't think it ever was.
I cave! I'll probably just make the guild for me and my GF then. She likes the name a lot.

I really wish more of us from GAF got in, especially the most vocal of us or those of us that would spread the good word about GW2 for ANet.

The only problem with this is that we couldn't spread the good word until the NDA is up anyways, and it's not like we're going to be recording footage or anything, so we're not really contributing to the community beyond telling other GAFers "It's awesome!", which we're kind of already doing.
