Am I the only person worried that having multiple guilds, being allowed on multiple servers, having a world wide bank, and other things of this nature will hurt the community? Sounds like we're going to end up with huge guilds with thousands of people you don't even know. And people will just switch to whatever guild is doing the best.
My absolute favorite part about WoW was having that guild camaraderie of trying to out play the other guilds. Now you don't have to try to be the best- you can just join the best at any time. Having guilds take keeps in WvW sounds awesome, but where's the prestige in that if everyone else fighting is also a member of that guild at one time or another?
Are these worries justified at all?
My view is that, If you're in a guild that allows just anyone to join, yo-... wait... why would you join a guild like that?
Any serious "PVP-centric guilds will be pretty specific with how they recruit people, even with the limitations in games like WoW, they're notoriously picky about they're members. they won't let just ANYONE in and they DEFINITELY won't let someone who has more than one or two guilds in.they're thought will be, "How can this person dedicate time to my guild when he has to split it between three or more?"
I think this system is for two situations...
Situation one
You have a close group of friends who you enjoy PVE-ing with, as well as a Larger group of people you PVP with. Now you can have a small guild for PVE and join the G
A
F
Guild for PVP.
Situation Two
You Are in the G
A
F
Guild and like to PVP, but also like helpiing lowbies level up or casual PVP or RP-ing or Dancing naked in bars(Don't Judge), The G
A
F
Guild can make one or two "Child" Guilds to cater to the likes of players such as that.
It's not as if you just click on a Guild and then click Join and Bang you're in, they have to let you in.
Of course there will be players who are in 9-20 guild, but none of those guilds will likely be very big or important.
Then again there is always the possibility of guilds becomming "Groups" Ala Steam groups. That would suck...
