Dota 2 Beta Thread: [Brewmaster]

I use to play a lot of Dota a long time ago, like 6 years worth. Got a beta invite a few months back and played a bit but it doesn't seem the same. Probably cause a lot of heroes were still missing.

Is there still a lot missing? Also, doesn't the balance get thrown a bit off since certain hero types wont get countered as easily?

Yes and yes.

The meta right now is push oriented because of the lack of certain super carries like CK, Druid and Lycan.

Although Lycan is here now so.

I got mine from Dpm, and I had 2 invites with that.

Have not received any today though..wonder why, I only need 1 really I think..but would still like 2.

Haha here they come!

Either way this looks pretty good, and close to open beta, a lot of people are already in and a lot of people just got another 2 invites. (though not everybody yet it seems)

Wonder what the new people playing record will be. Think right now the record is around 32,000.

Edit: I'm not on Steam right now, and I read that some people rebooted and got those assassin's creed coupons after that. Maybe that's why I don't have them yet? Can you check Guesong?

But Lycan is one of the best heroes for the push strat, so its only going to add to the current meta game. So will Syllabear. Don't know who CK and Druid are though.

So, after a disastrous first game (went 4/7/3 after going 4/0 as DK bot and being promptly demolished by a Butcher who was something like 15/0 when he wandered down to my lane)...

I'm going to try again. Hopefully this game will be bug-free.

What's a good, easy hero to start with? I'll look up a corresponding build. I have a general sense of how to play, but I want to ease into it.

Please help!

Dota 2, braille edition.

Man, I am tired of this game not counting victories. I should be 9-10, but I'm 6-10. I tried Axe tonight and I had a lot of fun playing him. Battle Hunger seems like the perfect newbie harassment move, they just run away instead of fighting a creep. Admittedly, I have done this when against him.

Thanks, guys. Where do Veno or Lich usually go? Mid, Top, Bot, Support? I remember what they do, just need to know what their roles are. When I played DotA I had no idea what I was doing, lol. Every hero was a carry to me.

Usually away from the lane that is next to your jungle. So for Radiant side, you want top. For Dire you want bottom. He can also work as mid.

Thank you very much!

That advice I gave you was for Venomancer actually. Should have read your post a bit more carefully. For Lich you want to lane with someone who needs farm, so you want to lane up with them and harass the enemy team. He can also be mid if no one absolutely wants it, but even then, there might be someone better suited for it.

When a game is safe to leave, does it mean it doesn't save your win/loss?

Game didn't record a victory, even though the match does appear in the recent matches.

I believe so. I know some people were talking about that in the Gaf channel a couple of weeks ago.

Sometimes I hate this game and then other times it's like "feels good man."

My team suuuuucked, I'm talking like 0-13, 2-13, 1-8 on three of the guys. I still manged to keep the other team at bay for a long time and went 12-5-18 or something, thanks to all the Sand King tips you guys gave me. Even though we lost at the end I was like "Fuck yeah!"

Hmmm, I did pretty horribly. :( Not sure if I should play again. I played at the behest of a friend who promptly chose Drow and started auto-attacking creeps. After I noticed no one else gave a shit, I just lane pushed at Veno and remembered the time when I enjoyed this game and didn't know what I was doing at all.

Chen + Centaur Khan, best buds forever. But man its tough keeping track of all your minions and abilities. Doesn't help that Chen usually ends up with a bunch of active items too. And wolf camps are such a disappointment :|

Quick question though: Wildkin tornado, does it affect the tower at all or just the creeps/heroes?

Just got into the beta for this, and honestly it's been a while since I played the original DOTA. considering jumping onto broodmother as she was one of my favourites in the original, can anyone tell me if she's much different from the DOTA 1 broodmother? And whether or not it's actually a good idea for me to do this? (I'm at work at the moment and can't actually get on the game for another couple of hours)

BM is mostly unchanged, except she's now emergent OP because of her pushing power. Gets countered easily though.

Creep + Heroes.

Brewmaster responses are kinda boring and expected (lots of drinking references) but Sylla has awesome lines.

So I guess only people who have been playing Dota2 for quite some time got additional invites? :/ I was running off to the PC because I'd hoped Id be finally able to play with my friends lol
