Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

This is the start, I can feel it.

These bits of info, followed by the NDA thing on Monday, then we get a gap and then lots of leaks in April.

Trust me.

Industry revenue this gen is much higher than it's ever been by a massive margin and the length of the cycle is really long, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the two leading consoles are going to end up the top two most profitable consoles in history.
Holy wow, man. 1) Giant revenue doesn't necessarily mean giant profit. 2) Giant industry revenue doesn't necessarily mean the modern leaders of one subset of it are the greatest in that subset's history.

Sorry but was anything important leaked in last 2 days? I had some problems with forum so i couldn't follow but i see the thread made a nice progress

Soo..

Does this mean..

I mean..

ALL ABOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD

YYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

What NDA and who is the B3D guy?

NDA rumoured to be lifted on a Wii U title on monday, not known whether it's multiplat or not.
B3D guy claims he knows RETRO devs, reckons it isn't DK3D or whatever, is targeted at "hardcore audience"

We all had problems brother. Check last 2 pages if you're 100ppp.

New Studio Tokyo Mario game at 720p and 60fps? Would be amazing. Drool.

No point arguing either way, as neither one of us ever had his hometown burned down by an ancient space dragon who simply refuses to stay dead. I think a breakdown is perfectly reasonable in context, Samus isn't some emotionless robot after all - you're free to disagree.
Not saying she's supposed to be a "completely emotionless robot" and no, it didn't feel like it fit in at all with the series' overall backstory and narrative based on officially approved material and aforementioned direction on how she should be portrayed from the creator himself.

If that message about Retro targeting the PS3/360 demographic is true, hopefully they stay away from the sci-fi / modern soldier paradigm. That market is beyond over-saturated; it's been one of the biggest clichés of modern gaming for over a decade.

Okay, time out.

This has to be bullshot. No way are the details that clean.

I mean, it's freaking gorgeous!

On the ponderings of performance for the big Nintendo games:

I can't see a scenario where EAD Tokyo doesn't get 1080p60 working for the next Mario, especially after one of the Iwata Asks on Galaxy had the programmer responsible for it pretty much say something to the effect of "it was necessary for Mario." Then again, I imagine lighting/real global illumination must be a bitch on system resources.

(Anyone remember that exact quote or where it was in said IA?)

Zelda will probably hit 1080p30 or 720p30 depending on how much eye candy they want to put out for the next game.

Smash is another strong contender for 1080p60 too.

Now with all of that out of my head, anyone else kinda excited to see how all this power's going to benefit heavily stylized games going forward?

Crytek UK, aka former Free Radical.

The TimeSplitters4 game becomes more real, I say.

EDIT: Ok, so looking at Google Maps, probably is not Crytek UK. The job is near the south-east of UK, and Free Radical was in Nottingham, wich is more in the nord.

Just checking, but has there been anything concrete after the acquisition of Free Radical concerning the continued existence of TimeSplitters 4? Given that this is the more likely one of only two possible things that could cause me to buy the Wii U at day one, I want to avoid the possibility of hyping myself to the point of believing it to be a guaranteed truth if all that has been said has so far been rumour and/or speculation.

The other is electrostatic haptics on the touch screen. I know there's just about an infinitesimal chance of it happening this coming home console generation, but it's still a really fun thing to think about.

If that's the Wii U version, then on the other console versions we'll be able to see ultra-detailed plaque crusties on the monster's teeth.

So yeah.. I can understand why folks would want to wait for the other version instead of the Wii U version. It adds sooooo much to the experience!

(also: does anyone think of that Tiny Elvis skit from SNL about 20 years ago with Nicholas Cage when they see that gif? So good!)

The chatter I have heard about NDAs expiring in April seems to mostly be about multiplatform games

There will be a big push for a lot of multiplats next month (AC3, Darksiders 2, etc.) and Nintendo doesn't want to be left out.

Supposedly.

Makes sense.

I think that's going to do more harm than good.
