It's complete bullshit that Korra won't have a female member of this new gang to girl-bro out with.

actually their is an official drawing of a girl who could join the team since she looks about their age and is also
a really rich non-bender. That could make the team interesting with a non bender's view in these troubling times

So i'm not wrong getting the FMA vibe then? and any similarities would be intentional?

Just a quick study I did a few months back of Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

EDIT: Man, some of these notes are cracking me up. The way people run with ideas and speculation! Yes, many of us on the crew enjoy Fullmetal (especially Joaquim, who has praised its virtues for some time), but Mike and I were late to the party. We didn’t start watching it until well after we created Mako and Bolin. And I think I had already designed Asami before then as well, but as Lust is such a killer design, I’m fine with saying she was influenced by her, and flattered anyone would think so. And why would people think we don’t like anime? I am amused!

I hope we get to see Avatar Yangchen again. She gave Aang the best advice:

Or better yet, Avatars that we haven't seen before.

I would watch a series dedicated to Roku. That one episode wasn't enough.

I'm sorry, but Roku was a punk who put his own personal interest before his duty. But he had a dragon as a familiar, so...1-1=0. Yeah, fine, I'd be okay with a Roku Ova.

Though Mako was bringing it ep 2. I mean god damn, that was nice bending. Didn't really feel Korra's bending although I assume it was good. The matches can only get better from this point on right?

great 2 episodes. man, Korra is so manly. at first I thought she just have boy-ish personality, but she's damn strong as well, I laugh when she lift Tenzin and his 3 kids with ease in episode 1. can't help thinking that if there's romance in this series, Korra will be the man in the relationship. lol

I don't get it
Ive seen more anime than most

Nah

While you were trying to defend the series from the anime tropes Ignis was throwing out by separating it the creators themselves don't seem to mind too much and it was like a message saying "hey its cool Uchip stop being so angry"

I don't think this would bode well for Ignis's pairing

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing a series after Korra they'll have it be about the first Avatar.

I'd dig that. I don't think them doing another time jump would be good. I would be very hesitant about an Avatar in a present day-esque world.

I acknowledged the inspiration before that
its still unrelated to what I was talking about

How do you know that technology keeps progressing forward? That being said I would prefer a story about the first Avatar as well. What were people using energy bending for before the Avatar showed up and why did the Avatar cycle need to get started?

It's it's own Nation, in a sense. Probably part of a larger movement towards Nation-States divorced from notions of Bending as national identity. I'm sure some Waterbenders, Firebenders etc would want to live in Ba Sing Se; think they could take up Earth Nation citizenship? And what does it mean for non-benders to migrate from nation to nation?

Asami Sato seems a lot more Japanese than names usually are. It's the Fire Nation that has more Japanese-inspired culture right? From memory:

Air = Tibet, Nepal, etc
Water = Inuit
Earth = Korean, Southern China?
Fire = Imperial Japan, Northern China?

Why wouldn't technology march forward? Technological advancement has always led to more advancement, and generally at a faster rate.

Anyway, I'd LOVE a series about the first Avatar.

edit: @ above: Weren't nearly all of the fire nation names Chinese? Except Azula which is spanish if anything.

How about a 2 part series, first season showing how the two worlds are out of balance and the second would be the Avatar mending the worlds.

Id imagine that tech is now moving much faster than it used to with Earth benders now being able to metal bend, and those metal benders now being able to work with fire benders
