Better yet, like in the Arthurian legend. He is the son of Tenzin and an illegitimate child that is said to be Aang's daughter (older than Tenzin). So Amon is the son of Tenzin and his half sister. (Amon is much older than any of Tenzin's kids because he was conceived when Tenzin was very young)
Edit: Now you know why he wears a mask.

What kind of Karma was involved to allow Mai and Tylee to be reincarnated as Aang's grand daughters?
The mask is because he knows its more mysterious for the viewers, to keep them wondering who he is.

Amon = decedent of Long Feng? He totally gets screwed by benders...(not sure if he was an earthbender himself) first the avatar ruins his plans after he works his way up to become the puppet master of Ba Sing Se, then azula betrays him using his own men...
The should just release the Soundtrack to TLA and this show. I'd buy it at a high price!
Long Feng totally was an Earthbender. He killed Jet with a rock. I don't see him having a child, let alone that child growing up to resent all bending.
