/\ Same for me. I liked Mega Mall Story, but just couldn't get into Edo Towns or Pocket Academy.

The other ones though... I'm currently going through Pocket League trying to max everyone's stats. Every player, every coach, every thing.

Hotdamn...thought that gaming om Ipad would be cheaper than on a ( no pun intended ) 'dedicated' console.. Mmmm....gotta change the way I spend my money. I buy almost everything I think it's good, because of the low prices. But when I did some math, I discovered I spend 45 euro in just 4 days

My spending habits on iOS have changed signficantly over time. I only play one game at a time now and try to only buy one game a week if there are multiple releases that interest me. I was spending way too much money for a while haha

yeah, I have 6 GB's left on my 32, and it's mostly games I've never played yet. All the impulse buys really add up.

Same here, but for now, I'm gonna play some games and not gonna buy anymore until I finish some games....but soooo tempted :D

Not neccesarily iOS game related, but still gaming related :p
Any of you all's use newstand for gaming mag subscriptions? I saw oxm is available and psm3 uk, are there any particularly interesting gaming mags icancheck out?

Just to add an iOS game quip, I'm really enjoying playing through ghost trick, a must buy if you didn't already play it on ds

Edge and retro gamer are the only two I subscribe to, since I don't have easy access to them as an american.

I finished tintin last night. Really well-done game... visually at least. Could easily be a PSP game, imo.

Ended very abruptly, and I've never seen the movie so I dont know how faithful it was.

Deleted, and had room to put Modern Combat 3 on, yay.

Well I found out the long and hard way last night that Free My Apps doesn't work outside the US (I figured if it'll let me download the ad apps, it'll let me download the gift apps). I have a code that requires a US iTunes account for Angry Birds Space HD for the iPad. I have no idea if it'll work, but I'll give it to the first person to PM me.

Edit: Gone

I am at 11.2 GB left on my 64. All games, no movies/songs. I also deleted Rage HD because it was taking up 2 GB

On this subject... when you delete games, do you make any effort to preserve the game's data? I've heard you can just copy them to a PC using a file explorer, though I haven't found anything to do the job that runs in Windows.

Do IAP's ever drop in price? I know app prices are constantly changing, with sales all the time, but I'm curious if the same occurs with IAPs, such as the chapters in Ghost Trick (or the other courses in the Freemyapps sponsor app Fairway Solitaire, I'm hooked!).

There's a program called iExplorer that will do the trick.

It's possible but entirely up to the app developer. Deathsmiles had an IAP sale last Halloween, for example.

Will give that a try, thanks!

You could've just made a free US account with no problems, that's what everyone does :x

Depends? I have a Swiss (main) and a US one and I do fine. I think you don't even need to be logged in for the App Store app to show that you have new updates.

I have a Canadian and a US one and it's no problem at all. Creating it takes like a minute, updates show up for both accounts at the same time, when you download the you type in the password like you usually would, all while being logged into the normal account. It's not hassle at all.

I was never sure if this was the case but if you're right that's even better.

Finally started to play Temple Run. Can anyone tell me what the red coins that show up later do? Are they taking one away from me? :O

I'm normally logged into my Canadian account, but I still get updates for Angry Birds (which I have on my US account because it's unlocked via freemyapps) just showing up in the Appstore along with updates from my Canadian account.

EDIT: Red coins give more points, blue coins give even more points! :D so the further you get, the more points you get, exponentially.

Ya I was surprised how easy it was. I made another one to take advantage of the freemyapps promo to get angry birds space hd and iphoto for free.

After basically ignoring iOS gaming since the AppStore first appeared, the idea that iPad games might be a good way to pass the wait for nextgen, meant that the topic needed a bit of research. Although familiar with Cut The Rope, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Plant vs Zombies and Infinity Blade etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of iPad titles that caught my eye.

I’ve always liked Tower Defense games and have Field Runners already, so picked up Kingdom Rush first. I’ve been pretty much addicted ever since. A perfect start to iPad gaming domination!

Here is my current AppShopper wishlist in no particular order, price drops will probably trigger the next purchase.

Danger Alliance: Battles – It looks like a good TBS
Land Air Sea Warfare HD – Big fan of Total Annihilation, this looked like the closest RTS to that on iOS
MotoHeroz HD – looks like fun
Epoch – The auto shoot, dodge mechanic reminds me of something else, can’t think what.
Tiny Wings – looks like fun
Incoboto – Reviews and recommendations
Aquaria – Is this a bit like a metrovania title?
EDGE Extended – Reminds me of Spindizzy
Perfect Cell – Strangely this reminds me of Abe’s Odyssey
Anomaly Warzone Earth HD – Tower Defense in reverse, looked good in Youtube clips
Infinity Blade II – Is it any good?

There were a few other titles that I’m still a bit undecided about

SuperBros: Sword and Sorcery – This got raves and awards, but on Youtube it just looks so dull?!
Galaxy on Fire 2 HD – Gameplay looks solid (Fan of Elite, Colony Wars, etc), but characters, story and dialogue, etc is painful to go through on Youtube. Also why do the space station interiors look so uninspired?
ShadowGun – Hmm, graphics over gameplay, Epoch edged this out comparing Youtube clips.
Hunters 2 – I’m edging more toward Danger Alliance; this didn’t look to have enough variety.

I see the original version of Paradroid is available, what we need is an update with shinier ships and droids.

I was also looking for something like Shadowfire by Beyond Software. This was the first TBS I ever played, would be good it if got an iOS refresh.

None of the current Populous clones seemed particularly competent.

Edit* The other game clone I was looking for was something like Carnage Heart form PSOne.

Oh, courtesy of my kids, I already have these to look forward to…
Age of Zombies
Jetpac Joyride
Minecraft
NOVA
Dungeon Hunters 2
Doodle Jump
NinJump
Pocket God

This is a FANTASTIC List. It looks like we have may similar tastes. I'd also recommend adding:

Ghost Trick
Eufloria HD OR Galcon Fusion
Time Geeks HD
Battleheart
Pocket RPG
Spider HD (Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor)
Osmos HD

Regarding your "on the fence titles":

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD and ShadowGun both look GORGEOUS on the iPAD, but ShadowGun is a very VERY shallow experience that controls remarkably well, but the AI is horrific. IMO, it's a much better 'controlling' 3rd person cover based shooter than Mass Effect: Infiltrator, but an ultimately unsatisfying experience.

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD is pretty much an arcade shooter. If that's your thing, then you really can't go wrong. It's probably in the top 5 best-looking games on iOS. However, if you're looking for something a little deeper, I'd recommend DANGEROUS, another space-flight sim with considerably more depth. People are comparing it to Freelancer. Currently, the game doesn't work properly with the iPAD 3, but an update is coming.

Speaking of upcoming updates, THE BARD's TALE is a fantastic RPG that doesn't play at all on the iPAD 3, but again, the update is on the way. In the meanwhile, I"m having a BLAST with POCKET RPG.

Lasty, if you're looking for good fun TBS games, try:

Hero Academy
Highborn HD
Civ Rev
Great Little War Game

Regarding POPULOUS CLONES....keep an eye out for TOPIA from Crescent Moon Games.

Oh...almost forgot...

Minecraft is far from great on iOS. If you dig exploration, try Junk Jack and/or iDigit HD. Junk Jack currently doesn't have an iPAD version, but they're working on it...

Anyone going to PAX East?
Check out Star Command and give some impressions.
I've been waiting for this since they announced it as Game Dev Story in space

Ok picked up a few of these at Starbucks. If you want a code, PM me. And please to be fair to everyone, only request if you don't have a Starbucks nearby-these should be for people that don't get a chance to snag these.

Check out this story:

The one OMGPOP employee who turned down Zynga

Basically there was a developer at the company who made his own games in his spare time. He didn't want there to be a conflict of interest when Zynga acquired them-and there would have been-so he quit.

"When an entity exists in an ecosystem, and acts within that ecosystem in a way that is short-sighted, behaving in a way that is actively destructive to the healthy functioning of that ecosystem and the other entities in it (including, in the long term, themselves)," he writes, "yes, I believe that that is evil. And I believe that Zynga does exactly that."

Here's the link to his puzzle game, if you're interested in supporting the guy. It looks pretty cool.

Red coins have double value. They begin to appear after you reach a certain marker. I believe blue is the next level (triple value).

I can't believe how quality Undercroft is. It's like a lost AAA title from the mid-90's.

That kitty game looks pretty.

Is it actually fun? what kind of game is it?

Just another Match-3 game, first released on PC. From reading it's a good port, polished, but I found the PC version to be too easy, and the animal sim part tedious. Simplz Zoo is a similar concept (build a zoo instead of care for kittens), but much more enjoyable imo.

Match-3/Pet-Sim
yeah, it's pretty solid actually

rock hard solid if you dig the cute factor (and playing with virtual kitties)

Virtual pets bore me after five minutes. I tend to go back to my real, live, furry friends. I to like match-three games though. I shall check it out.
