I haven't really seen anything beyond the classes and earlier videos of game play, is the new battles system going to be overly complex? I keep seeing you guys mention traits and such and have no idea what that is. I imagine the game should do a good job at introducing it in the tutorial, hopefully. I'm a veteran of GW1 PVE so hopefully it's not too alien. The main thing I know about for this game is that your weapon controls what skills you can have equipped so I presume you can macro the full skill bar for each weapon to swap bars on the fly. What is this trait stuff? and is there anything else new to the combat system?
Trait points are a replacement for attribute points from GW1. Attributes provided linear bonuses to certain weapon and skill types, and a certain point investment was required to wield higher level weapons of that category effectively. Traits offer similar categories for point investment and are accumulated in the same way as attribute points, but the point requirement for weapons is gone, and the bonuses can be customized at each major trait unlock.
There's only one major difference in how they're spent. In GW1, you could respec all of your attribute points for free at any time in a city or outpost. In GW2, you have to spend money to respec.
