Game Informer Tease: "Screenshots ... are gorgeous. My jaw is still on the ground..."

Crysis 2 was amazingly optimized [if we ignore Nvidia sponsored tessellation], and it looked so gorgeous.

They fumbled AI [enemies can really spot you easily while you are cloacked] and storytelling [too much radio talks, even at the end sequence...].

Imo in what Crysis 1 beats Crysis 2 is in design (openness, etc), but the sequel had more polished gameplay.

This is how I feel too. Crysis 2 is doing more with technology, but to see Crysis with all that lush detailed foliage and how it worked into the game play was incredible. Crysis 1 is probably my favorite FPS after HL2.

I really hope this turns out to be God of War 4. I keep hearing about and and nothing to show. Come on Sony gimme dem goods!!!!

I don't know about that. Crysis 2 ran like shit on my 6850 on Medium and High and I tried to tweak the settings. Instead of dropping frames, the game slows down and runs sluggish when things get heavy.

I ran it maxed out at 1900 1200 on a 5770. Prior to the DX11 patch, which I never tried out. Framerate was rock solid.

Phenom IIx4, 4gigs of ram, and 6870. It runned flawlessly [around/below 60fps] with all setings on V.High [not dx11 ultra]. Game really likes quadcore cpus.

BTW, Crysis1 is one of the ultra rare games that is perfectly playable with 20fps. I really dont know why, maybe because of blur.

Wouldn't it be awesome if this game was a new IP, possibly by a studio that isn't known for it's graphics as of late.

I'm hoping God of War IV, though I think that we will more likely get a teaser for it at E3

oh and obligatory:

You have to let go man, its hard, I know, I know, but it isn't going to happen.

Biggest total surprise will be No One Lives Forever 3... but chances for that are so small... Same as with Homeworld 3.

In the press release announcing that The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition is gold, CDProjektRED also say that they will announce "something truly extraordinary" during a conference on April 5th.

The game will be released in over two weeks, but I think we will surprise players in the following weeks. On the 5th of April we will host a conference and announce something truly extraordinary – so be sure to watch our live stream at 5 p.m. GMT that day. Said Marcin Iwiński, joint-CEO pf CD Projekt RED.

I doubt they would announce The Witcher 3 that early and before The Witcher 2 EE being available.

They have 3 games in production. Seeing as The Witcher 2 is a year old, I wouldn't think they would announce W3 regardless of when the EE is coming out. Could be one of their other games though.

Yeah, it's unlikely.
By the way, after what they acheved with action RPGs, am I the only one that would kill to see CDPR pull off some Baldur's Gate-inspired party based RPG?

Okay so since games journalists have been getting called out what with this Mass Effect 3 business going on, can we call out GI with their "W-W-W-WORLD EXCLUSIVE" cover stories which are really nothing more than glorified paid advertisements.

Game Informer had Red Steel back in the day if I remember correctly? Possibly some Wii U game. Doesn't say it's a reveal, so maybe Killer Freaks.

I think we all know this. We just don't care, evidently, as it keeps garnering plenty of attention.

Would people even read the GI without the Cover stories? I don't think so. For me GI is only interesting for the new information of my MW titles.

lol, so much hyperbole. "I mean, this is our bestest project ever. No, I mean it. You guys can't possibly believe it". Reminds me of interviews after soccer games where everything's always good

"I masturbate furiously whilst watching those screenshots" would be a pretty strong and inappropiate PR statement, but I'm sure they're dying to say something like that.

GameInformer hyping up another unimpressive reveal.

Well, I'm sorry that not everything can be Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Ms. Kagari. :P The last few GI covers have been awesome.

____

Question: Has GAF ever not been disappointed in anything ever? Answer: No. GAF, as a whole, hates everything and thinks it is all uninspired drivel.

They could reveal something that everyone is dying to see and there would be a collective "meh" because we are all so cool and suave and vidyagames are too mainstream and shit.

I guess the reveal will have to dictate if I will ever care about what this man says ever again. Jaw droppingly gorgeous is a pretty high bar to set and claim this late in the generation where we've seen pretty much everything these systems are capable of (including the extra eye candy a PC version can add to such multiplatform games). It has to be very special.

So you click on the threads that you wish were a bannable offense, to confirm knowledge you already are quite certain of, then once in said thread, you say things like "Man fuck the modzzzz!!!!!!!!" , all because you think they they bring ot the worst in the forum?

That the jist?

No.

You spelled mods wrong.

I was out during the Mass Effect debacle. But would it kill these writers to have a bit more self-respect than constantly jizzing on every preview they get.

It's a multi-billion dollar industry now. We don't need to cheerlead anymore.

Game Informer is a giant ad that Gamestop funds, so no, they will never stop cheerleading.

To be fair, previews are weird.

There is that element of not wanting to really dick up the relationship with the publisher for sure. You'd be surprised how little pressure they put on you in these cases, but you do usually take rough areas with a grain of salt, knowing the game is still in development. I try to mention problems, but yeah.

But you also have to remember that in most cases, the publisher is showing you a preview of the better parts of the game. They're selling the game to you. You often don't get a lot of time with the product (unless you received preview code), have limited access to certain features, and can only build an opinion on what you play.

It's one thing to say "The controls are abysmal oh my god I can't steer this thing at all", but a lot of game problems don't become obvious until you get to sit down with the whole product, experience everything how it is supposed to play out, and get a feel of the entire game's scope. With a preview you don't get that.

Game Informer is only good for the interview stuff and articles imo :P They might be cheerleading but it's still nice that they get that much info out of stuff.
