Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I'm not riling things up, your the one defending Nintendo continually shitting on it's fans. So guess what Ace, my opinion differs from yours and im riling things up? Stop trying to stir the pot bro.

What loss?

I'm saying a GPU + a gig of ram + a CPU might cost them $110 a pop if they work things just right. Even at twice the general capability of the 360. A pad is definitely doable at $70.

What if they're running the exact same playbook as they did for the Wii generation. Do something that's a small but noticeable step up from the current best of the generation (excluding PC thank you), heavily advertise it to the purchase decision makers in the house (moms) and in this case beat the competition to the punch by a year and get a bunch of multiplat from third parties for that first year, and help them question whether they want to see budgets balloon again.

That doesn't sound as unlikely as you think it does, although a $249 pricepoint and 2x (even 1.5) sounds almost too sweet to be.

Based on what? How are they shitting on their fans? Explain to me how every single fan of Nintendo games is being shit on.
I'd love to hear this answer.

I wouldn't.

I hope Nintendo makes a decent optional controller without that display. This is my only complaint about Wii U so far.

I'm sure they will, considering they went so far as to release what I feel was a perfectly unnecessary accessory in the 3DS second analog.

(I'm probably wrong, but is your av from Busou Renkin?)

(yes, I'm using these again! posted in the other thread too)

I mean, I wouldn't call a machine that can do ^this weaker than Xbox 360 or PlayStation3, in any way.

I'm a little worred

It's a tech demo...It's like saying in engine trailers are equally to gameplay.
However it will be more powerful than current gen consoles.

Some of you are expecting way to much.

Because they conceded to Sony and Microsoft long ago in the video game space, now we get 6 year old tech each generation while Microsoft and Sony continue to drive tech forward.

It is amazing that Nintendo apologists(Ace in particular) don't admit that our chosen hobby is a Visual medium and that it plays a huge part in driving this industry forward.

So, then I guess the millions that enjoyed their Wii games were just being deluded into liking shit?
Is that what you're saying?
And that only Sony and MS are creating actual good experiences?

Yup, living up to your tag, my man...

What's so wishy washy about wanting Nintendo to act grown up and step up with the big boys aka Xbox and Playstation? And i do think for myself, i want a goddamn Nintendo console that actually has some muscle behind it in the grpahics, sound and AI department, god forbid Ace.

What's grown up about gutting yourself and eradicating every red cent you've ever made in videogames like Sony did?

I'll let you in on a little secret. The most grown-up way a young man or lady can act is to live within their means. Nintendo incurring a great loss in order to beef up hardware power going into an age where said hardware power is becoming harder and harder to distinguish just to win a specs pissing match is far from "grown-up."

Well, I see this thread has become a wasteland.

*abandons*

Unfortunate, but true.

Busy finishing projects these days...
Please forgive my ignorance, but why this "weak power" discussion comes back again?
I thought we finished those "on par" talks already?
Did I miss some new negative news?

Hey I guess it'll be okay.

I mean, I'll be happy with a machine 10-20x the power of Wii (in floating point performance) with Nintendo games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc) in HD at 30-60fps.

Think what EAD Tokyo did with Galaxy and what Retro did with Metroid Prime 3. Imagine what they'll do on Wii U.

trying to think positive even though it's hard sometimes

There's a new thread that basically says the Wii U is far less powerful than the 360 and PS3.

Just laugh it off and don't even bother.

Never said Nintendo doesnt create good stuff, they do..but guess what? Over the last 6 years you had to play the Wii on an HDTV in subHD resolutions which meant asstastic visuals. And boy, those millions of people sure made the Wii successful over the last two years as the Wii's sales momentum dived off a cliff into a fiery hell as Xbox and PS3 continue to drive video game sales.

Why is it that when ever I see these things they keep getting desaturated?

Because they're low quality GIFs made from off screen footage?

Oh whoa is us, my eyes surely melted from having to deal with sub HD visuals. And guess what, yeah the Wii slowed down in sales... 5 years after it came out, once Nintendo's focus shifted to the 3DS and Wii U.
Surprising, or maybe not, since that's what normally happens.

Hah? But based on what evidence?
Sorry don't want to go into that thread, according to those "on par", "low resolution"...threads I can predict pretty well what is happening in that thread.
I just want to know is there any concrete evident to support that topic?

Hahhaah Ace, still making excuses for Nintendo? It's sudden death has nothing to do with Nintendo's shifting focus. It has to do with the fact everyone stopped developing for it because of it's serious lack of power. Stop blindly making excuses for Nintendo.

Correct me if im wrong but did they not make money on both consoles? Im pretty sure they did.

They lost money on the N64 but Pokemon saved them (this is entirely unofficial, but has been stated by ex-employees) and they lost money on the GC for a time, but I believe that they kept their head mostly above water for most of it. That said they had no momentum with the GC, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of their income could be tied directly to Pokemon again.

I seriously love the notion that somehow the hardware power of a given console constitutes how "grown up" a game console is. When all is said and done, people don't play with flops, they play games and as long as the content is there, there's no problems... You'd think this particular gen would have taught some folks that.

You know what? I'm quite done with you, ED. You came in here, taking my posts out of context just to start a fight. Your tag should be in big bold flashing letters, because it rings so true.
Anyway, you have a wonderful evening, because you won't be getting any more responses out of me.

Anonymous developers' DIRTY WHORE MOUTHS(hehehehe).

Basically, it leaves us back at square one of knowing nothing about the power of the console.

You can think what you want of my undeserved tag and same to you buddy, you are just a Nintendo mouthpiece.

I knew Nintendo were just a bunch of kiddy pansies and not serious about next gen when they humbly aknowledged the losses they took on 3DS and instead of letting the cocky attitudes and mistakes which caused that to filter into their home console side, Iwata and Miyamoto then said they were going to take PAY CUTS in order to avoid possible lay offs and then they rewarded early adopters with free games! I hate this company. Seriously Iwata, stop crapping on your fans and start behaving like the rest of the "big boys" and start thinking about POWER and no more of this rediculous, conservative, passive, "nicey" approach at things!

This apparent "leak" regarding a couple devs saying the WiiU is underpowered
compared to the 360/PS3 comes across as FUD. Fear, uncertainty, doubt.

It also comes way too close to April Fool's day along with apparent news
regarding specs on the PS4 and Xbox 720. Be very wary of a possible
viral FUD campaign aimed at the WiiU.
