Any chance they include that with the system???

I want it:[

Because they conceded to Sony and Microsoft long ago in the video game space, now we get 6 year old tech each generation while Microsoft and Sony continue to drive tech forward.

It is amazing that Nintendo apologists(Ace in particular) don't admit that our chosen hobby is a Visual medium and that it plays a huge part in driving this industry forward.

I will say, I always think this is the problem with some companies.. not saying graphics don't help make a great game.

But to me this is an interactive medium before its a visual medium. And I assume most of the world agrees which is why stuff like Tetris, Mario, Wii Sports, Angry Birds, Whatever with Friends, Draw Something become smash hits.

To change the subject a little:

I think as long as Nintendo has climbed out of the SD hole, it's smooth sailing from here.

Sure, other consoles may produce better graphics in an increment, but SD to HD is really all they need to make ambitious games.

The Remote Plus hitching a ride is also great; gives the Wii a second shot amongst the doubters in a way.

It is a visual medium first and foremost. What are you doing from the second you turn on your console? You are watching your Pc Monitor or TV screen, not fiddling with your controller.

Meh, believe what you want BY2K. You will be on ignore from now on.

What, I make one mention of your name and you put ME on the ignore list and not Ace?

That's a bit much, no?

And btw, It's an INTERACTIVE medium before anything else, not visual. Video Games aren't painting or movies.

Oh don't worry, you and Ace are both on ignore as of now man. People who don't have a leg to stand on are the first people to throw out the TAG quote and in your case, judging me by my name? Pathetic really.

Hey look on the bright side about being on a charlatan's ignore list.

You can say whatever you want about him and he'll never know!

Are you telling me that if you were blind, you would enjoy playing an old skool game or a current gen game because visuals are not important to the VIDEO game experience?
Um, not that I've keeping up with this thread or anything but... If you were blind you couldn't play shit. Or have I missed the point here?

Honestly?
Playing with your controller in this day and age.
Xbox 360, Ps3, and Wii all turn on the system with their controller.
Navigate the menus with your controller.
Probably spend more time messing with your control before you see the first graphics in a game.

There's no tutorials teaching you how to view the game.. usually teaching you how to play and interact with the game.

I think he's forgetting about the GAME part, of VIDEO GAME.

It's an interactive medium! I don't give a crap if a game looks like I was looking in a mirror, if it plays like shit, it's still a bad game.

If Nintendo got something right, it's that gameplay > graphiczzzzzzzz.

Especially when everything is a shade of brown or gray!

Please enlighten me, how are video games not a visual medium? If you are blind, you will not be playing games.

Simple:

You said it's a visual medium first and foremost.

The best games of all time don't have technically the best visuals.

So why are they so esteemed???

Maybe it's a gameplay medium first and foremost aided by visuals???

Looking at games is just one part of the whole, but I think it's pretty much agreed by many a gamer that if the game plays like shit, but looks beautiful, it's still a crappy game. Games are meant to be played not looked at.

I want to believe Nintendo did the bird demo to make up for the fact that the hawk in Twilight Princess is useless. Such a waste of a beautiful animal.

TP hawk is an ugly mess compared to demo hawk.

To think, that, if Nintendo made a remake of TP, that's how much better it would look.

Nintendo should have made an Epona demo in Lon Lon Ranch. I want to see Epona's visual upgrade.

I'm done with this line of conversation. All of you making excuses for this not being a visual medium are all the same people who will drool over new screenshots of the next big game, you are just blindly defending Nintendo's strategy of being 10 steps behind the competition.

Did you see the Zelda demo and the bird demo and think "MY EYES, THEY ARE BLEEDING FROM THEIR OWN VOMIT"???

It would be more accurate to call gaming an interactive medium, as that is quite obviously the big difference between games and anything else. There is no actual requirement that games have any visuals whatsoever (I believe there's an iPhone game - Papa Sangre, or something like that - that is completely audio-driven). Text adventures technically have visuals, but only for utility's sake (it would be possible
and probably pretty cool
to see an interactive fiction game that uses voice actors and voice recognition technology instead of text input). The point is that visuals by no means define the medium.

That's why new input methods (ways to manipulate interactivity) are seen as innovations more than new shaders or increased poly counts or such. Interactivity is the crux of our industry. The joystick, triggers, motion controllers, touch screens - is anyone really going to argue that these are less important or less impactful than marginal increases in resolution or advanced tessellation?

As beautiful as the hawk would be, it would still be worthless. These creatures deserve better!
