http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/3/2921798/sony-ps3-amazon-instant-videoSony's mystery addition to the PlayStation 3's streaming video service lineup is a mystery no more: it's Amazon Instant Video, the online retailer's collection of an estimated 100,000 movies and shows, as well as Prime Instant Video, the roughly 17,000 streaming items included along with a $79 Amazon Prime subscription. That includes recent infusions of content from Discovery, Viacom, ABC-Disney, and Fox. Sony tells us both services will be accessible from a native PS3 app, downloadable from your console's XMB menu, and should run similarly to Netflix or Hulu Plus in that regard. You won't be able to purchase content from Amazon using your PlayStation Store digital wallet, though.
The announcement may not be as exciting as a live TV service, but it's a major video service that the Xbox 360 doesn't have... unless you count the grueling process of downloading shows in advance on a Windows computer and streaming to your Xbox using Windows Media Center.
Seems like that needs it's own thread.

PS3 confirmed as the victor in the online video content streaming wars of videogame consoles.
Oh no! So you think netflix should have control over this space? Is anyone really excited about Amazon becoming bigger and having more power?

why?Oh, oh fuck yes. I'm done with Netflix now.

Does such a war exist?
Is there a reason to think it won't land on Xbox360 in due time? Service is on everything as is....I wouldn't expect them to not get on the MS gravy train as well.
Does Amazon Prime stream TV shows like Netflix or like Hulu?
That is to say... do they have each new episode of a show the next day/week like Hulu or do they only put an entire season worth of episodes online at a time months after the season finishes like Netflix?
why?
I think it's more like Netflix where they put up whole seasons. However, I think Amazon Prime right now has some pretty slim pickings compared to Netflix atm. They need to add more streaming content to their service.
Because I actually have a device that can use this damn service now. The fact that Netflix is on EVERYTHING is an excellent selling point, and now that I can use the Amazon service I'm already paying for with my Prime account on my PS3, I have no need for Netflix.
the "Instant" content that you pay-per-episode for is up within a day of the original airing, if you buy the season pass for a series still airing it automatically adds it to your library when it is available and bills your amazon account the $1.99 or $1.89 or whatever that ep is. Walking Dead started downloading to my HTPC about 30 minutes after it aired on Sunday nights....
Assuming they both provide the exact same content right? But they don't.

Think it's time to bite the bullet and purchase a PS3 (I wonder ig that will make me a hardcore gamer too?).
Just to be sure, is HBO available on either Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon?

WOW! Really?
Cablevision, your days are numbered!
Get it on my Xbox and bye bye Netflix.. heck.. it might be bye bye Netflix already.. kids are just used to the 360.. they'll figure it out.
Seems like that needs it's own thread.
Own thread, get.
Yeah, when the hell is this coming to 360?
I see. Yeah, I haven't really bought any content and I have just browsed the free streaming content available so far. That part I am disappointed in. I did see that there is a lot of content if you are willing to pay extra for it.
