I thought only
the gold saints were. Doesn't mean there aren't a ton of silver saints around. As it stands, they're using the most useless one.

Remember that after the war with Hades, only the 5 main characters, Jabu and his gang and Shaina and Marin remained.

I hope that's not the case.
And I hope they at least introduce new ones if the old ones are dead or whatever. Saint Seiya has always been more about the Gold Saints than anything else. The only Bronze Saint close in popularity to any of the gold ones was Ikki, because Ikki is a badass

You'd think Jabu's gang would be relatively competent at this point. Unless of course they're all dead too. If that's the case, is Sanctuary even around anymore?

If someone of those remaining dudes you mentioned appears wearing a gold cloth I am going to fly to japan straight to toei or to whatever studio is animating this and giving them a piece of my mind, I'll hire translator-san for dramatic purposes.

That's because Ikki was the only one that could actually beat a gold saint without it being an asspull.

Is this something explained in this show or a previous Seiya?

It's the end of the Hades OVAs.

Actually...
part of Jabu's gang is dead; supposedly, a mysterious man went around killing Saints. Souma's dad, Ban from the original show, was one of the victims. Souma is described as "temperamental and prone to anger" because he is the typical "looking for revenge" character. The Sanctuary still exists... as the Palaestra, AKA: Hogwarts for Saints, a training camp in which Ichi and Geki and other teachers/trainers are preparing new Saints for the revival of Mars.

Mars flat out said that there aren't any Gold Saints active by the time of Omega episode 1, though.

Eh, I could see Jabu having a gold coth after 23 years. I mean he sucked, but this is shounen where training>natural talent (sometimes).

Did you guys notice that Saori's house is the same as the one in Tenkai-hen? I haven't watched the old stuff in ages maybe it was always the same house all the time?

you might be right, but I can't still forget how sucky they were. ok I don't want to sound like a scratched disk, but I really really hope this anime includes some top tier saints

Toru Furuya's voice is so amazing. At the end of the episode when they announced you can download Seiya's voice I think I kind of squealed. Sadly my phone can't do that. But I so would if I could.

Loved the first episode! Made me excited to check out the older Seiya series as well.

I should clarify that I have no problem with the sleekness and dynamism of Umakoshi's designs per se. As I have mentioned previously, ever since watching Casshern Sins I thought the artstyle looked perfect for Saint Seiya. My beef lies solely on the decision to make the cloths look more like the Heartcatch outfits for whatever reason. The whole thing with having the saints wear spandex and stockings and long gloves and popped collars instead of any actual armor throws me for a loop something fierce. I just can't take it seriously.

7th once posted some previous designs Umakoshi had done that looked infinitely better than what we ended up with. It's a real damned shame they didn't go with those instead.

One issue with the armour in omega is there not physical objects that break up to fit as armour, they just magical pop out of some crycstal like some beam of light just like precure magical girl show, zero armor porn.

seiya hades saga armor

Lost canvas unicorn armor

I would highly recommend long time saint seiya fans or anyone looking to get into the saint seiya franchise to check out saint seiya the lost canvas ova over this travesty, it's a prequel story but you don’t need to watch any of the original to enjoy (similar situation to fate zero), even with the original being a big part of my childhood I can say lost canvas is even better than the original.

The ova is 26 episode , season 2 only came out summer 2011 so it’s not that old

-tons fabulous Gold saint action, with the god saints receiving lot screen time, back story and a large role in the war against hades,

-legendary gold saints of the past and saints of the original make an appearance like aries shion, lipra dohka, all the gold saints are far more badass and smug then in the original.

-tenma isn't whiny annoying brat like kouga

-still has pandora's boxs :)

-it still has armor porn like the original

I agree. This is very disappointing to me. It's not a huge deal in the context of the entire show, but I really liked the fact that in Saint Seiya the armor is a huge piece of awesome shit that the saints actually carry around on their backs in a GIANT BOX. There was something meaningful about the physical labor involved and it also gave the armor an importance in terms of being a big heavy object which seems like it can really protect you when you put it on.

Lost Canvas does have the whole "no ending" issue though, with the OVAs stopping before the beginning of the final battle. At least, this show will have a conclusion...

*gifs of armors*

Needs the second pegasus cloth and the gold cloth ... but interesting to see how "magic girl" the new one is, while the last one is more ... power rangers.

Wich is a very small diference =P

edit:
Lost Canvas art is too much complicated .... you can barely understand what is going on .... wich is a change from the original's art ... wich is borders the offensive in the first mangas and don't get much better later

Do you mean that Lost Canvas manga art is better than the Lost Canvas anime, or that it's better than Umakoshi?
LC manga x anime. The anime isn't bad, but I prefer the details in the manga. But my point was that you can always finish the story in the manga if you get curious about what happen after watching the anime.

Probably both!
I'd rather have LC style over this, yeah. =P

Nah, at least trejo knows Lost Canvas isn't very good.

I didn't get that impression from his posts at all. You sure you aren't thinking of his Hades Chapter impressions?

I haven't finished it yet so I can't give a definitive judgement but Lost Canvas seems okay so far. Animation-wise it does feel somewhat lackluster with lots of stilted animation, which is probably what 7th is referring to and the character designs are so different it takes some time to get used to them but hey, at least they're all wearing real armor!

Mostly I'm just enjoying the new take on the Gold saints with a special mention to Albafica, who is a massive improvement over his counterpart in pretty much every way.

Aya Hirano as Athena just sounds wrong tho.

omg what is this? why I know about it only until now?

I might be following it up, I never finished the Hades saga was it any good?

The first half was amazing and then it quickly went to shit once the Gold Saints stopped having any meaningful part in it.

I thought OT was some joke reference to precure being as battle-ish as Saint Seiya but holy shit, this IS Heart Catch Seiya! Will have to check it out when I get home.

I don't quite understand what's going on with that series of images. Is that the original on the right? Why are people upset that there's a callback to the original?
