Since everyone is saying to watch The Lost Canvas first, I'm going to do that before starting this. Never seen a Saint Seiya show before so this should be fun.

Watched the episode today, much better than last week. Much more interesting stuff happening, change of setting, additional characters, plus that fight scene was slick.

Saw episode 3 ... really awesome, but i really hope that they don't turn the anime into
high school drama
=|

...is that an spoiler ? =P

Episode 3

I like the female saint, and it's nice to have multiple things happen in one episode! Those masks are pretty damn shitty.

Next episode is an Erika episode, yay.

Platy, based on leaked info,
the school gets destroyed in a few episodes.

Saintcatch Seiyacure 3

The bear guy used to go on adventures with the original cast? When the fuck did that ever happen?

Man, saints in training have it so much easier nowadays. Palaestra looks like a thousand times more civilized a place than Sanctuary. They're given uniforms instead of rags, they get vacations, they have a cafeteria and they're even treated with at least some semblance of human dignity. Back in my day they were always trying to kill each other and were lucky to have a roof over their heads to recover after getting a limb chopped off or something.

The episode had some really pretty backgrounds and one decent fight scene. Aquila is a nice addition to the cast, even if her cloth is just straight up a Precure outfit. Are those puffy sleeves supposed to be armor too?

Next week: Babby Shiryu. I expect disappointment.

On Episode 3, the main enjoyable part was continued interactions from Souma and Kouga. Their really cool and seeing their school life essentially was cool.

Not really a fan of Yuna, seems the worst right off the start.

HOLY CRAP!

I just started watching the lost Canvas after reading all the coments about it.

Damn son! I know what I am doing this weekend. Gold Saints are so badass in here.

*Watching in Castilian audio. Pure sex to my ears. I'm a Gemini, can't wait to see Kanon and or Saga

Well, Im pretty sure theyre saying its
Ikki

Great episode, some good story bits that definitely surprised me, good stuff.

well yes, i think the bad thing he did was fighting in the first tournament for the gold armor and well bla bla bla the whole original SS series happened. i did enjoy the shadows of ikki, shun, seiya, hyoga and shiryu.

This fight this week was closer to the fights in the original show than the other fights we've seen so far.
And by that I mean that it was pretty much two guys standing still while spamming special attacks.

The water effects were nice, though.

This week's episode was .. weird

Seiya the last lightbender scenes and yet another bloodless fight ... wich is incredible considering the GORE in the original
pegasus vs dragon
fight

Lets hope that this is just "we are warming up" before they let us see that each saint have 500 times more blood than a normal person

Also, i'm sorry for this new character ... he will SO be used in every Saint Seiya Omega Yaoi EVER.

Episode 4

That was kinda bad. The art was inconsistent and weak throughout, the direction was slow and boring, and the entire thing felt like a bad RPG tutorial segment with pop-ups you couldn't skip. The fight at the end was just bank animation being spammed. Zzzzzzzzzzzz. :(

I also hate how they go out of their way to make Ryuho look like some moeblob girl with cute cheeks and eyes, and doing all sorts of super girly expressions. It's a huge turn off. :(

That doesn't sound good at all. Shiryu was always my favorite bronze saint so it's worse for me. :(

Ryuho has an interesting story, and I actually find him the most interesting character introduced so far, so that might make you happy. I just find his design and the way they're animating the character a huge turn off. :(

Just appeared in my mind .... he has a crap health, right ?
Diseases and stuff like that ...
...and he has the WATER element !
If I were him I would be AT LEAST with an umbrella and a coat everytime =P

Ryuho is basically the new Shun.

This .. wich is bizarre since we have a true female saint xD

I dunno, I actually find Ryuho is the weakest character so far; he doesn't seem to have much room for growth and they revealed all that you need to know about him already. He honestly seems like the new Shun in every single possible way: kind but somewhat cocky, with a relatively nice background compared to the rest of the cast and following a pretty simple motivation. They even have the same fighting style of moving as little as possible while lashing out ranged attacks at the opponent.
I also hate Tetsuya Kakihara's voice when he does the "pretty boy" act.

To be true to the series, from the characters that were showed, only the lion dude don't have anything from Shun.

Pegasus has the "I don't want to fight but i only fight when someone close to me is in danger" attitude

Dragon has the same fighting style and "will break if touched" looks

Aquila is .... a girl xD

Really? Kouga seems pretty trigger happy to me.
He was ready to beat up Spear in episode 3.

Seiya = Kouga
Jabu = Souma
Hyouga = Yuna
Shun = Ryuho
Shiryu = Haruto
Ikki = Eden

I think these would be the closest comparisons.

I suppose that was what made him interesting. They revealed everything about him so early. There might not be room for growth, but that kinda offset how bad everything else about him in the episode was. Maybe.

Well, it's not as if Souma's background isn't obvious... but there is more room for actual development in
revenge than in trying to heal your father; at least Souma will have to eventually confront a proper, even if tried-and-true, moral dilemma.

Yeah but Souma is ugly. :(

I kinda read the whole "can't control the armor" as a "I don't want to fight/be a saint" and then when he finaly do something is when he explains to himself that he MUST do it to save Saori

Yeah but Souma is ugly. :(

Wich this thread lead me to believe that is better than pretty bishounen ....

Christopher Cross posting.

Saint Seiya Omega 4

Woo, tournament arc coming up! Hopefully it will have some cool tactics and stuff like that.

But man, this generation's dragon saint SUCKS. Shiryu was a total bro that did some crazy things to keep his friends alive like
poking his own eyes out.
Ryuho is some gifted, popular bishounen.

Ah well, at least Koga isn't relying only on the Pegaus Ryuusei Ken and switching it up a bunch. I don't know how hopeful I am that there's going to be a ton of battle variety though, especially considering how Heartcatch turned out.

Was talking to a friend and she noticed something VERY interesting : in 3 battles, the main character
still didn't won a SINGLE fight. Ep1- Defeated. Ep2-Weakened the villain, friend finished.Ep3-Loose
...wich is an interesting anti-cliche stuff

Ep 4

Ryuho seems best suited to the background, but is more interesting than Yuna. Although I like that
his health issue leads to extra dedication, perseverance to his character and motives
it ultimately means he wont be in many of the most action intense parts. Still, I think he is quite powerful.

Emotional episode though it did yield a new bond and friendship, so I think it was good.

So, I just rewatched the 4th episode now with better subs than last time. About secondary characters, I'm thinking that Hydra's element has to be darkness, but being Athena's saint and all he denies it or something.

? You mean as in a new darkness? Fairly certain by the end of ep 2, someone killed darkness offscreen when he was beaten by Koga & Soma

I'm thinking that maybe not only the bad guys have the element of darkness. If there are bronze saints of all the other elements, then Hydra's element could be darkness, and maybe that is why he hasn't mastered it, despite of being an old school saint.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume Hydra is just a funny reference for classic Seiya fans.

Man I gotta stop reading duckrolls comments before watching an episode, its probably because he watches a lot more anime than I do and is tired of the tropes, but Im enjoying this a lot, this episode included.

New dragon kid is good so far and yeah, interesting story. Shinryu in the original was a huge dick in the beginning, all the self sacrifice he did much later in the series was a later development, so no need to judge this characters personality right away as he showed to have a mean streak.

Making him a physically weak character is a good choice given that his armor has the strongest shield, theyre tying the cloth to the character a lot more in this series (unlike, lets say, the swan cloth in the original SS) So far all the characters seem to deviate a little bit from the cliches and seeing how the overall production values are high, plus the good use of fanservice, Im pretty engaged.

I do think I may take a small break so that I can watch a few episodes in succession, this whole weekly schedule is annoying. Every episode feels like a tiny morcel that doesnt satisfy.

Yes, if you don't watch too many shows of this type that often, I doubt the tropes will bother you too much. Since this is a 50ish episode long series, the pacing will be pretty slow a lot of the time, so it's probably a good idea to let some episodes build up before watching.

Ep 5.

Have you ever felt your own cosmo? Anyway, the trial was pretty cool.
Souma's father story was pretty sad, I hope he ends up meeting his end goal by the time the story is over, the Martian is so evil and wrong. Regardless, I disliked the time spent with Yuna but was glad Ryuuho made it, even if he is part of the weak duo, curious where Eden will place in that ranking. Souma and Kouga's part was actually cool and touching, twice saving, and actually surprising me by bringing Souma to the finish line

Great episode.

Better than last week, but its a pretty mixed bag episode. Not a whole lot of interesting stuff going on visually, outside of a few scenes. I don't really get why they would call his dad a loser just because he died in battle or w.e. The motivation for people to shit on him seems pretty weak, I mean if that's the case then I guess Seiya is a loser too.
