Very excited to find out who is doing the Halo 4 soundtrack, they've obviously got huge shoes to fill but I'm liking what I've heard of the new stuff so far.
A Hollywood B-lister like Gregson-Williams or Giacchino would be great (not saying their quality is second-rate, just saying that haven't yet usurped the current reigning pantheon of Zimmer, Williams, and Horner.)
My money's on Wall or Tim Larkin based on the samples we've heard, though.

Now I'm not naming names, but someone here mentioned Giacchino without crediting his work on LOST. His music combined with certain scenes were tear-inducing on multiple occasions.
Edit: I wonder if the Jurassic Park melodica guy is free. I know Xand, Hydra, Elzar et al would love that!

Okay, I just got into an environment during a ME3 mission that I think would be FANTASTIC to have as an environment in Halo 4's campaign. Hot damn.

Wouldn't know. Game didn't look the least bit interesting to me. Even Jack Black being in it couldn't make me interested in it. Course to be honest I've not liked anything Tim Shaffer has done.

I agree with many of the composer suggestions, but I am guessing the person doing it is neither well known or unknown. I don't think most people will freak out over who it is, but rather go "oh ok cool, sounds like a good choice and that music sample kicks ass!"
I will say that CoD is good at creating some stunning environments and set pieces with great atmosphere.

Dat Atmosphere.
When Halo 2 was first announced and we saw all of these screenshots and trailers of a huge Covenant fleet attacking Earth and laying waste to New Mombasa, hype levels were through the roof. It'd be Halo, but we're defending Earth!
Then when it released, you spent a few hours on Earth and the rest was on Delta Halo. Still a fantastic game, but some people were still wondering what it could have been like if we had stayed on Earth the entire time and fought off an invasion.
ODST answered that question quite nicely. I seriously hope Halo 4 has an open hub world connecting missions to each other. That forerunner planet begs to be explored.
Ugh, too bad Shirley Walker died. She took Danny Elfman's Batman score and turned it into BLISS for the animated series, I bet she would have taken Marty's compositions and ran with them.
Ramin Djawadi. He also did Iron Man, Prison Break and Mr. Brooks (which is a fucking GREAT movie, by the way, Costner and Hurt going back and forth is amazing).

Yep. It's a pretty dark game, except when it throws blinding lights at your night vision. Were it not for retaining the whole covert-ops feel, I would have preferred a flashlight. ODST with a little flashlight beam? And Brutes come thundering out of nowhere and suddenly take up your entire field of vision? Scary.

What sucks for me is that I keep getting logged out so it'll send me back to 50ppp. Not only that, but it sends me to the page number I was currently on. So I would be on page 172 on 100ppp but when it brings me back to 50ppp, instead of bringing me to page 343, it takes me all the way back to 172. Very disorientating.
