Oh yeah Madoka was nice too, excuse me :P. The moe turned me off but at least it was decent and fun.

Fate Zero is still better for having no moe and no freaking emo kids. Oh and an awesome OST. And amazing animation for a TV show. And excellent voice acting. And an interesting plot at least pertaining to the characters.

:P!

brb, looking for some magazine racks to knock over.

Seriously. God tier stuff. My jaw is still on the ground after watching that episode. The king of heroes and the king of anime is back.

What a way to start the new season. Really, really amazing stuff. The entire direction, pace, and visuals really justify it being viewed as movie quality animation on TV. So fucking good. Waiting 4 months for this was worth every single second. Goddamnit.

My gosh what a way to start out S2. Such craziness. Perfect amount of action, talking, and amazzzzzzzzing visuals. Seriously I can't help wonder how they were able to do this on TV. Having such good visuals should be illegal.

Fight between Gil vs Berserker, rofl worthy. Oh man. Such craziness.

The dialogue in the episode suggests that
Kiritsugu was not 100% certain that the person he was shooting is Caster's master. Remember, no one has seen Ryuunosuke with Caster, except maybe the Assassins. It was a guess based on the way he was acting, so he went for a non-lethal first shot presumably so the bystander wouldn't die if he turned out to be wrong about it. When the monster stopped the moment Ryuunosuke was shot, Kiritsugu knew it was the right person, and went for the kill.

This actually makes it pretty disturbing if you think about it. Kiritsugu was willing to risk shooting an innocent bystander who was acting a little crazy, just to stop Caster.
As posted from the other topic.

Anyway now that you mention it that part did slip through me and how crazy it would be if it didn't turn out the way it went,
would Kiritsugu just shoot another bystander granted there would be other similar crazies like Ryuunosuke? :O

Spring 2012 has refilled my anime wells. I saw some really positive reviews of this show in the anime OT with no spoilers thankfully, and seeing how the series has its own thread must mean it's really good, right? I've now seen Fate/Zero 01 and simply put: I want more. Kind of a slow build up, but that didn't make it any less interesting. The production, the music (derivative maybe but awesome, yes), and the whole universe just seems well put together. It really does remind me of a well-produced RPG and it doesn't surprise me that there is actually a game based on this.

I noticed a sort of fuck up in ep13-14...

At the end of ep13 the countdown is -84:30:14, and at the end of ep14 it is -84:21:14.

That's a difference of 9 minutes. Episode 14 has 20 minutes 25 seconds worth of footage. Assuming that some of the sequences take place at the same time instead of sequentially, it still doesn't work. Just counting all the continuous events in the episode would account for at least 11 minutes of events. Lol.

Yes, I've been watching this episode way too much. :P

Already caught up to episode 14. I'm just going to type random, incohesive thoughts now. I'm glad I didn't have to wait months for this episode. I would've been pissed if I saw episode 13 and had to wait that long. Such a perfect episode, my favorites are probably 01, 02, 04/05 and now 14. The Archer and Berserker are the most interesting servants to me, while among the masters Kiritsugu and Tohsaku are tops. Other than that awesome, initial confrontation among servants in episode 2 (epic ending, epic lines by Archer), the best fights have been between mages/masters like Kiritsugu/Archibald and Tohsaku/Kiriya. Can this show go on forever, Jump Shounen-whatever style? Can I have the next episode already?!

In the original novel, the timestamp at the point where the OP ended was -84:30:16, and the timestamp a little past the point where the episode ended was -84:23:46.

Yeah, it was a fuckup, but I dunno on whose part that was. ufotable probably tried to take into account that they expanded several pieces of dialogue near the end.

Did you miss Madoka, or something? It's even written by the same dude.

Well he's wrong about it being the first truly decent anime in a while, even ignoring Madoka.

Are those timecodes supposed to mean something?

I would say the fuck-up is on Ufotable's part here, since in a novel how long something takes is dictated by the text. So if the book says the events were 7 minutes long, it's plausible. But in an actual show, since those events are actually shown in realtime, if it doesn't add up that's their fault. :)

I presume it counts down to the end of the entire story, with the final episode ending with 00:00:00, hence Fate/ZERO. Lol.

Finished episode 5. Really enjoying this more than Fate/stay night so far and I was a big fan of that series. Looks like I'll be joining the weekly wait soon.

I tried to watch F/SN after watching most of S1 of Fate/Zero and I could barely finish the first episode..

If I'm still interested when F/Z wraps up, I'll probably make a run through the VN for F/SN instead of watching the anime.

I am apparently among the minority that really likes Episode 1 of Fate/Zero.. I was interested in the conversation and the different approaches to the rituals that the different masters were taking. I've never minded the whole exposition dump in shows or games, though.

That just means that you're part of the group of people who are right. The first episode was highly interesting and did a great job of setting up all the characters and their motivations.

Just have a pity on those people who can't appreciate how awesome it was.

I watched FSN way back when it was originally airing and have rewatched it a couple times since. I think having seen it before Fate/Zero is making my experience watching this new series a lot more interesting. A ton of stuff connects and it's really cool to see that.

I'm sure I would have enjoyed F/SN more if I hadn't seen so much of Fate/Zero first.. I'll try a few more episodes and see if it grabs me. If not, I'll just try to play the VN later.

So what are the chances that Aniplex will release a more cheaper package of the BD down the road or are we stuck with $379 price tag? <_<;;

The exact same package? Very low chance. I would say the only possibilities are:

a) lower cost DVD set in 1-2 years.

b) volume by volume release on BD and DVD with both sub and dub tracks aimed at a more mainstream audience in 1-2 years.

c) an import of a (slightly) cheaper complete BD box set from Japan in 5+ years.

Is it safe to watch this if I have yet to rewatch fate stay/night (forgotten most of it) and haven't read thet VN of the latter one yet?

I'm thinking it will be option b out of those possibilities.

Time will tell, I suppose.

I think that is the best option for consumers obviously, because that provides the best value while giving the show the highest chance for a broader paying audience. But this is Aniplex USA we're talking about, so the most obvious choice is not always what makes the most sense to them, especially given their skeleton crew operations in the US.

I hope it could be either of a or b, I want this baby bad but I can't see myself spend the amount they asked for the first half. D:

Yes its pretty safe since having knowledge of FSN already spoils the outcome of the war and also who survives the war in the end.

Was reading a bit of the manga adaptation. The art isn't the greatest but it's pretty much the same thing as the anime.

omg episode 14.

Fucking finally
Ryuunosuke is dead. I hated that prick.

Okay so I just started watching this.

Ep.1 was a little boring, expounded on too many things I didn't know if I cared about yet, good thing the next episode kicked up a notch with Ryounosuke and Gilles de Rais, now I can't stopped watching, it's too good.

I'm watching Ep. 9 now.

Can't wait for EP 15..

Part of me is starting to want to collect some figures.. looks like most of them are F/SN figures, though.. and many are out of print and thus too expensive.

I'd absolutely love to have this one -

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003552VO0/?tag=neogaf0e-20

However, that price is far too high. (more than double the original msrp)

amazingly enough, ebay prices aren't much cheaper if at all.. bummer.

Just started episode 13...

Ryuunosuke's religious views are definitely the most interesting beliefs I have ever heard.

I am speechless.
