As I attempted to make my MOC modular using all my spare parts I came to a realization: I am either not that talented at coming up with my own ideas, or I just dont have the right bricks to pull off what I am envisioning.
I think it is somewhere in the middle. I have all these ideas in my head, but not the variety of bricks to pull it off. And sadly, I am the type that needs the tools (bricks) in front of me to play around with to achieve what is in my head.
I started a half modular last night, and just don't have the windows or random bricks to get the details I want. I was going to make a bar/pub, but with the white bricks and blue windows I attached, it looks like a bake shop. Sadly, I dont have the pieces to do a bake case like I envisioned, and I dont think I could bricklink it together either. I need the things in front of me to pull it off.
Maybe I should just stick to premade sets and leave my artistic ambitions to pen and ink where I can be set free. Or inappropriate pictures like my Town Hall riot I posted a few pages ago.
Why get a B-Wing now when an UCS version is due at the end of the year? All the previous B-Wings were sub par models. I am hoping the UCS is totally kick ass, because the B-Wing is a sexy ship. Well, that one you posted is the best they have done, but definitely lots of room for improvement. Their TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and Y-Wing models this year have shown they are on top of their game right now with Star Wars ships.

The absence of a B-wing in my Star Wars collection has been nagging at me for a while now. Decided to pick one up from Bricklink, which led to an A-wing purchase, which led to an Imperial Landing Craft purchase.
At least I stopped short of the Sail Barge and Sandcrawler...

Unless its a *big* ship, like the SSD or the ISD, I like the idea of having both a UCS and a "mainline" model. The 6208 is IMO a pretty-good version, considering the original price and piece count.
I'm hoping that the presence of Jabba's Palace this year means a revamped Sail Barge next year, and we are well overdue for a new Sandcrawler.
Apparently, due to it's resemblance to a lower-case "b", and as a short-form of its nickname the "blade-wing".
That, and they already had another craft called the X-wing.

The b-wing packs so much firepower it could take out a star destroyer on its own. The boss of rebel ships.
And it had its own hyperdrive.
I've never owned a proper B-wing before. By the time Kenner got around to releasing a toy for it in the 1980's, I was moving on to other things. Playing the expansion for the X-wing game on PC gave me new respect for the ship.

What I've done is built a structure with the Lego I have (2 creator apple house's, and the newest Hogwarts all bought cheap ) then I imported it into the Lego Digital Designer to kit it out.
When my online pick a brick parts show up I'll post what I've done, but don't give up just yet the fun of creating your own building is better then any pre-made set.
Then again it'll all get here, I'll build it, and I'll hate the shit out of what I made. LOL

The Star Wars Encyclopedia I bought in the mid 90s made me respect the B-wing. Then when Rebel Assault came out for GameCube and you had a mission to take out a Star Destroyer with just a B-wing, I was happy. It is the least known, but most kick ass Rebel ship. The a-wing is all speed, but no firepower. The B-wing is all about kicking everything's ass, but not moving quickly. Because it doesn't need to.

A-wing is for "air" superiority...(still slower than a TIE interceptor, but at least it has shields).

Y-Wing is more of a bomber. B-Wing is bombing and more. Slow as shit, but it can take a beating and dish out enough pain to take out a Star Destoryer. X-Wings were always the middle ground ship. Good speed, good shields, good firepower. It didn't excel or fail at anything. Just a perfect balance. A-Wings were all speed though, which is awesome.

Not to go into Star Wars talk or whatever, but if the B-Wing is as pro as everyone is saying...Why didn't they pilot more B-Wings? I don't know Star Wars very much outside the main overall story of 4-6, so pardon my ignorance.

It didn't show up until Jedi. And it was slow as shit so they didn't use it for everything. X wings were balanced enough to be a squadron but A-wings and B-Wings had issues that they worked better mixed in with other ships.
Basically think of a-wings and x-wings handling ship to ship combat while the b-wings went in and fucked everything up one side and down the other.
Not to get too Expanded Universe on this subject, but the Y-wing model was the granddaddy of the Alliance fleet, with its history going back to service during the Clone Wars. The B-wing was a pet project for Ackbar, and was intended to replace the aging Y-wings, but was just starting to come into service at what became the end of the Imperial-Alliance war.

I thought I was the only one who thought that B Wing model looked pretty good. I've always liked that ship though and never had the toy. Actually the only SW ship I had was Vader's TIE, which I guess is still my sentimental favorite. But the Slave I and B Wing shapes are just awesome to me.

It's pretty obvious to see the apple tree house pieces in it if you look for it. That was a combination of building with what I had and a bricklink order of mainly windows and arches.

could you start off by making components? eg one really cool window with treatments etc, designed as a module so you know you can scale it across your model? Don't worry about having enough pieces for all the windows yet. And don't worry about colour, you can do all that with bricklink later on.
And if there is something small you want to try you could use LDD for that to experiment with odd bricks you don't have (or just throw a few into your next bricklink orders)
My confession for today is that I ordered my first 'secret' lego without telling my wife. She got a little frustrated with me this week as I had 8 little bricklink orders turn up, along with two amazon orders which were on offer.
Today I saw the endor attack at a good discount on amazon UK so I bought that, along with a couple of snowtrooper battle packs to get some speeder bikes and scout/snow troopers. but I'm getting them delivered to my office and will sneak them into the house.

You could just try making small MOCs. I find spacecrafts are easy to make with random pieces. Sometimes I even put together the strangest parts just to see if I can use them. In fact I just found one of these strange monstrosities tucked in a corner of a room. It's the kind of model that would probably make the MOC scene squirm at how idiotic it is.

I'm trying to find a list of ALL the star wars LEGO sets, mainly because I'm trying to find all the micro and mini scale sets, there's one in the front of the LEGO Star Wars encyclopedia book but that's my little brother's so it's at my dad's. Any good easy to read/check off online?
I think I have a mini Millennium Falcon. At least I have a big printed disc piece which is apparently exclusive to that one set. I got it in a mixed bag at a jumble sale so no box or instructions.

I like how they used the pieces they had made specifically for some of their earlier UFO line to do the top just with an alternative printing. Kinda lazy tbh.

The little sainsburys up the road has the series 7 figs now so I grabbed a couple at random. Got the bagpiper and the rabbit Guy! Two that I wanted from the series, beaut.

With the exception of the Falcon... I quite like how all of these look.
Don't get me wrong, I have the new X-Wing and I love it. I appreciate the detail, and how much it looks like, well, an X-Wing.
But you know what I love about those? I love that they basically look like what I'd imagine I could build if I had a bunch of bricks lying about and wanted to build an X-Wing or Slave 1. They look so... LEGO.

The components is the best idea. I was experimenting with door frames and making odd angles the other day. Maybe I should just make a bunch of little pieces and figure out how to make it all come together. That will give me an idea of what pieces I need to finish it off then.

One of the only two minifigs I have is the Boxer (the other, somewhat ironically given what we are talking about, its the English guard) and I think he would definitely look great with an opponent.
Wish they released a similar set of theme figs for each country, though - I don't really care for those crazy poms.
