I have Kovi, Petrov, Williams and STR. Drivers aren't doing much but I think Williams paid off handsomely. I think next move (other than changing drivers) is to bump up STR to someone like Sauber or FI (or Williams, if I opt for the eggs-in-one-basket rule).

And isn't the bonus question supposed to come up on the 18th of this month? I thought I saw someone mention "May".

It may get a little messy next weekend.

Oh dear, that doesn't look good at all. If the smallest amount of sense prevailed the event would be called off, but it seems the best to hope for is that no one is hurt.

But Hamilton has qualified 1st, 1st & 2nd and finished 3rd three times in a row during the race.

Button has qualified 2nd, 2nd & 6th and finished 1st, 14th & 2nd during the race.
So going from 1st in quali to 3rd in race is better than going from 2nd to 1st or 6th to 2nd?

Don't get me wrong, Hamilton definitely looks more consistent (and happier) than last year but while his performance in qualifying is great as always, he's more than unimpressive during the race.

Huh? his races have been fine, better then last year so far IMHO.

aus- a bad launch set-up sees him behind button, being forced to pit a lap too late gets him caught behind perez where he loses 10s to button who he was keeping a decent gap too, a badly timed safety car manoeuvres vettel ahead, easy 2nd place if not for the SC.

mal- bad conditions trip up many including button, hamilton controls it easily until pit strategy after the safety car see the sauber and ferrari work there tyres better, good haul of points from a difficult race.

chi- recovers from a 5 place grid penalty to finish with a strong 3rd following a race of close but patient racing, wouldnt have had to work even that hard if he hadn't lost too much time stuck behind perez and his dying tyres 2.5s off pace for several laps.

Leading the championship with the most consistent performance this year is impressive.

QFT.

I don't know why their are so many Hamilton haters. IMO button is very close to Hamilton cause of the Pirelli tyres, if they where still on Bridgestones Hamilton would be faster.

But these are the tyres they are on now, so they must all deal with it. I am dissapointed that this year the tyres degrade much quicker following someone. If this remains the case, the car in first after one lap wins most races, unless it rains of course.

Think both Mc drivers did well yesterday, Button drove really well, as always looked after his tyres really well. Shame about the pitstop. But I don't think he would have won.

Hamilton did very well, he overtook many people including his crash magnets Massa/Maldando. It was a measured drive and made the best of a bad situation (5 place grid penalty). He would have been in for a win or defo second if it wasn't for the penalty.

Huh? I don't hate Hamilton, like I said, he seems more consistent than last year but he still looks less quick / impressive during the race in my opinion. Blaming it on the tires feels a bit too simple. Also, I had actually forgotten about the gear box change penalty -- sorry.

The tyres are a major recent change in F1, in 2010 we had the same no refuel reg but we had Bridgestones tires. During the 2010 season almost all races only had 1 stop cause they where more durable. Under Perreri we have much more.

So you can't discount the change in tires, but saying that. Drivers have to drive under the current regs. Under Bridgestone Lewis had the upper hand, now Button does.

No, but its better than going from 2nd to 14th (Button in Malaysia)

Im not trying to say one is better than the other, I was saying that they are very closely matched this season & so far Hamilton has been more consistent in race results.

How do some of you get up there so quickly? Carryover from last year?

Nah it resets each year. Just off to a good start.

Williams & Sauber have performed really well for their price. So people who picked them in them from first week will be very high up

Yeah, almost better to go for a better midfield engine and chassis with a single crappy driver than worry about fielding two. Now I know.

Oh. You gotta love our Mark:

I have visions of a track invasion during the Bahrain race, remember Hockenhiem and Silverstone? This is will be on a much bigger scale, I just hope some nut job doesn't do anything stupid.

The Demon Headmaster is a cunt.

BBC peak viewing figures were 4.1m compared to 4.3m last year.
Average viewing figures 2.85m compared to 3.27m last year

Sky were 0.85m peak with 0.43m average

Total Audience is up overall.

EDIT: BBC 3pm race repeat was 1.6m & 7pm highlights were 0.5m

Would've thought Sky figures would be at least 1m... interesting. They're throwing a lot of money at the shows too, the production value is pretty insane.

I'm definitely in the 'Bahrain should be cancelled' group. This is getting out of hand.

BBC coverage was absolutely superb, as always. They've got all the connections with the drivers and teams, but more than that, they've got heart.

I watched the first two on Sky and was unconvinced with them. The BBC coverage was much better. Will be very interesting to see how the viewing figures compare between Sky and BBC for Chinese and Bahrain.

Excellent race. Nico put in a solid performance after that brilliant quali lap. Glad to see McClaren up there too, though both Jenson and Hamilton drove well. Have a feeling the WDC might be between those two this year. That battle between 2nd and 11th was really good fun, plenty of cars defending and attacking.

Felt bad for Michael though, think he could have had a good race if not for the pit stop problem.

Australia & Malaysia were both around 1m. First race thats on BBC & Skys viewing figures drop by near 60%?

Sky wont be pleased

Yeah, it was easy for the first race to say that Sky did a good job, but going head-to-head where comparisons can be drawn directly with BBC, they honestly can't compete. And it would be hard to say that they'd even come close during the year.

Shit, that's pretty damning.

FLAWLESS VICTOLY

I think sports and politics should kept away each other, I don't see no reason why they shouldn't drive there.

It's the biggest spectacle to hit Bahrain this year and has the potential to become a flashpoint. It isn't about F1, but F1 will give them a stage.

Because there is a clear safety risk which isn't there in other countries?

It's not even about that, IMO. Having an F1 race there, a sport with global reach legitimises the Bahrain "government" and gives them a platform. We wouldn't be having a debate over holding a Damascus GP where the Syrian government could pretend that everything is okay.

Even if I were to agree with that, there seems a rather significant safety issue.
Yeah, it's more than just "politics". It's a genuine safety issue. Sure, with a basis in politics, but the safety of the whole circus should be the number one priority, not anything else.

I would say they have the safety issues under control other vise they wouldn't drive there.
Ze Germanz vill take care of it?

Can't you say the same thing about China? That is a fucked up country politically but there's no controversy about going there.

I'm fine with F1 not being political as long as the country is safe, which Bahrain isn't.

So you won't watch the GP next week?

Me not watching the GP has nothing to do with this. It's all about the safety of the spectators and competitors of the sport. If protesters are burning down signs this week, it shows there is a significant chance some will disrupt and jeopardise this weekend. The risk is too high.

F1 is their stage for mounting a protest. And that is why an international SPORT should not go.
