Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

I doubt it.

Hopefully though, Miyamoto and company have had enough time to remake the game's visuals from its original(game is so old, may have started on the N64:P) form.

Pretty sure I remember reading that the Mario 128 demo for the Gamecube is what ended up being Pikmin. Don't know how accurate that was or if it was just a dream I had.

Anyway, the thing that gives Pikmin games an obvious advantage in terms of visuals is that they take place in relatively small, static areas compared to a FPS or an adventure game. The camera isn't moving quickly from one room to another, or rushing around a huge, ever-changing landscape. All the action is localized to what amounts to a couple meters at a time, and the camera will only ever travel maybe 10 meters for a given level. That gives the artists an enormous potential for detail they can add to the scenes.

Good points, I have a feeling the music will be spectacular though I don't remember it from the first game.

I'm sure it had it!!!!!!!

Is it? I hope so, but I also hope the gameplay is better as well. If it's the same old game with new graphics, I don't think that will cut it for me.

I'm pretty confident that Nintendo will introduce enough new gameplay concepts to keep things fresh. They have a knack for ensuring that their many, many series entries in their IPs aren't too stale, thank goodness. It's part of what keeps us coming back, I suppose.

I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get up confidence in the games yet. I have lots of ideas about what they could do, but it doesn't seem like reality yet. I just can't wait to see it with my own eyes at E3 so I can stop thinking about it. Haha.

Although, I will say part of that is that a few of their big entries on the Wii haven't really impressed me. For example, I was super excited for Skyward Sword. It had so much possibility, but that ended up somewhat disappointing me.

I guess I'm just hoping they actually take a different route next gen rather than pretty up what they already had.

I don't remember any particular standout themes or anything, but I do remember the music complimented the overall feeling of the game very well.

I still love the music that plays when the end of the day is coming, and you're rushing your little guys to get back into their pod. It adds to the whole whimsical feel that envelopes the game. It's a warm fuzzy feeling to hear it playing as my little guys blast off, safe from the bulborbs. :)

There's really no way this Pikmin can go wrong except for inclusion of you know whoiis.
For most games, the only place where I would like to see my Mii is on the File Select menu.

Although.. a boss Mii could be creepy. Murder the human, steal the buttons off of his clothes and the coins in his pockets, return to the ship! Naaaahhh!

But will it be online? Perhaps as an MMO RTS Game? Anything less is a crushing disappointment.

Haha.. you missed my earlier post about online, didn't you? I'm the wrong guy to ask about online; I'm worse than Nintendo and incredibly out of touch when it comes to this issue, I openly admit. :)

Ewoks? I dunno, I think they're kinda cute.

*ducks*

That's what the Lucas Arts MMO thingy at E3 is, Pikmin 3 is a collaboration between them and Miyamoto.

At the end of the game, you have to unlock 3000 Pikmin plus Ewoks to haul Jabba the Hut's ass around all those trees where the Scout Troopers are whizzing around in their silly vehicles.

And when you beat the game, they'll finally let you swing the Wiimote+ around like a light saber... for 30 seconds, and just to interact with the credits. Thanks, LucasArts!

Developer upset they games didn't sell I really don't get the hate some have they just want to see them go 3rd party so they weaker

or they just fanboy nothing worst then a fanboy Developer

Eh, the guy had legitimate complaints. Holding a grudge after those problems are addressed may be petty, but I don't think it warrants such accusations.

Wiiware was a weird service. It seemed like some devs did moderately well and have expressed satisfaction, but a lot of software, both good and bad, fell by the wayside and those devs are left a bit jilted.

We've heard similar complaints from Arkam about Nintendo's certification process, who then went on to claim his company failed to get more performance out of the Wii U than a 360 for the port they're making. These critiques are almost always coming from an attitude of entitlement (Nintendo should do this for us because...), and as far as we know, it's been port houses making them more often than not. I don't know what conclusions to draw necessarily, except to only to take everything with a grain of salt, especially when people's emotions are quite likely involved.

The biggest problem was the size limit, which of course goes back to the lack of any real space on the Wii at all.

I think the certification process was a bigger issue. They knew beforehand the size limitation of the Wii. I think that and the process must have upset a lot of developers, which is the reason we haven't seen that many quality games come out for WiiWare.

Considering how often Miyamoto has mentioned making use of HD when talking about this game, I think it's quite likely it'll be one of the graphical showpieces.

My question: why so long?

My question: why so long?

Not too sure. Nine months seems like a rather long process for certification. I'm not too familiar with this process either. Does a developer have to go through this process for each game they make for WiiWare or just once to become certified as a WiiWare developer?

I guess they're both pretty big issues, but the Wii couldn't even fit Super Meat Boy on it. It's kind of hard to have a successful service if it's not capable of hosting games with more than a minimal amount of content.

they just want they own way with thing, and its not like they didn't know 3rd party's just want all 3 to be the same anyone that not they just moan

how about you take that into account before hand

if you making a iOS game you take into account it dont have button every service got it own strong or weak points, any devs should know better

These are my questions. I didn't follow the "issue" of WiiWare over this generation, so I'll freely admit ignorance on the process. But something smells if it's taking that long; that's unacceptable.

I was looking forward to this too. I'm hoping Nintendo has no restrictions on Wii U eShop. The 3DS eShop is doing pretty well with content as far as I can tell.

Same here. I haven't bought a single WiiWare game.

Seems to me Big N is on the right track.

A load of bullshit. Don't do that.

it is close to the claims the next 3DS update

~Ability to access Nintendo eShop account from other internet enabled devices including computers and smartphones.

~This system update will allow users to take pictures of QR codes with the 3DS from the other device’s screen to redeem purchased content.

~This update will add the application “Nintendo Network” to the 3DS.

~Ability to update physical Nintendo 3DS Games via Nintendo Shop (DLC feature).

~A “Game Preview” Mode for the Nintendo 3DS system Nintendo Shop (demos).

~Enhances the speed of the handheld.

~Increases the system security with automatic security updates.

~Nintendo Zone will be automatically added to European 3DS owners.

I made it from a PDF. ;)

Well then the obvious question is where did you get the pdf?

Heads up, it's against the rules to purposely disseminate false information on gaf, so it's probably in your best interest to come clean about whether you made it all up or if the source material is at all dubious.

Nope, but I do believe they have considered it, even if it was just to shoot down asinine questions of shareholders.

I honestly doubt they would have considered it. They wouldn't create an iOS demo for a 3DS game. They'll probably go as far as creating an app that shows trailers for the latest games, but I can't ever see them creating demos. That's what kiosk at huge retail stores are for :P

Oh my.. this could be fun.

If anything, the slide show got me thinking about Nintendo's real E3 presentation. Hopefully they'll confirm a Tuesday conference soon.

Extremely limited play demos (something like 10 plays max) for exclusive eshop games on iOS would actually be pretty brilliant now that I think about it.
