Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

Do you believe for a second that Nintendo would actually publish demo's of their ips on the iPhone? Really?

An app on android and apple is basically free advertising. Most people Nintendo will target will have smartphones anyway, so that will make the advertising have greater reach. Maybe people can log in to Nintendo Network to buy games for their 3ds and wii u and view NON PLAYABLE demos on their phones. Exactly like STEAM for android and iOS

I wouldn't do something this stupid in a million years.

I don't know who made it but it's there.

Really the best thing Nintendo can do to combat a stubborn developer like Beamdog is to make the Wii U such a smashing success that they look like childish dicks and ignorant fools for ignoring a popular platform that has already fixed 2 of the problems they had with the Wii.

It's not like NO developers have had success with WiiWare, at least in its infancy. The eShop is already getting a lot of love and high praise from indie devs, especially Nicalis and Renegade Kid.

Also, if they keep up the "I feel I have been wronged, therefore I will burn a bridge" attitude, they are going to find the industry to be a lonely place soon, as its not like even Apple is 100% perfect about their online store either.

False alarm then.

(can't read french - where does it say that?)

Oui c'est un gros fake mon truc sur le futur de #Nintendo ! Mais c'est ce que j'aurais dit si j'étais Iwata ! @JulienChieze

Yes. It's a great fake by me about the future of Nintendo. But it's what I would do if i was Iwata.

He said it was "great".

I call bullshit and now think it's real because he's lying about it.

This whole certification and ease of getting in thing is where Apple are miles ahead of the others. It takes about a week for cert and while I do think they could be more thorough as sometimes bad shit slips through, they definitely make it easier for devs. This is why they have been so successful.

I think Nintendo needs to do something like XBLA or the App store but I don't know how it should be done and maintain value. Nintendo's strict control allows them to control the flow And perception of titles. My understanding is that devs can set the price on the eshop and some devs have their games pretty cheap (NZ$3.75 is the lowest I've seen) which is a start.

Of course I say all this because I want to be a Wii U dev but can't afford it and don't have my own secure office premises as I work from home.

One of Apple's problems is the main reason why Nintendo will probably never support it. Apple's certification people seem to have no problem letting stolen IP, blatant ripoffs, and outright horrible games on it. Also they have quite the shovelware perception.

One thing I wonder about Apple is if they allow those apps that have blatantly copied IP to actually keep what money they make before pulling the game off the store. Imagine having your game just copied, your IP stolen, and Apple just allowing the thief to get away.

Oh but yes. The desire to hop onto a gravy train should outweigh any slight from the past, perceived or real. Especially in this economic climate.

Kinda reminds me of a saying: "The best revenge is living well."

Of course it's fake!
A Nintendo PDF leak, I don't think that have this happened before especially that they are a small company and this makes the Ninjas' job much easier.

Not that it's the right or wise thing to do but are any of you guys going to buy third party games from big names just to send a message that there is an audience and home for them on a Nintendo platform???

I don't mean games you have no interest in but moreso ones that look somewhat appealing to you but push you over the top because you want third partys to do well and have a snowball effect??

That exact phrase was running through my head as I typed my post.

I've done it in the past, but only for games that I wanted anyway. For me, it was usually the difference between waiting for a price drop or paying full price.

This time around, I might be a bit more judicious. If it's a genre that I truly love, I'd be more inclined to "vote with my wallet." And if it's a title that I'm absolutely crazy about, on the level of Beyond Good & Evil or RE4: Wii Edition, I'll not only buy myself a copy - the nieces and nephews will get copies, too.

Good words to live by. Great minds..

I'll buy games that interest me, first or third party.
I own three copies of Xenoblade.

I'll do what I've done with my other Nintendo consoles.
I'll buy third party games as long as they are good.

I've been happy to buy quality games like GTA: Chinatown Wars on the DS, Zack and Wiki on the Wii, and Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3DS.

I don't want to buy shovelware though, as that will send out the wrong message.

I'll buy games that I want to play be they first or third party. It's all about the money because I can't afford everything. If Zelda comes I'll get it. If Metroid comes I'll get it but after those first party there's a lot of third parties I'd get. If Skyrim and GTAV were on Wii U I'd get em. Darksiders looks interesting so maybe that. Mass Effect, same. Next gen I'll probably play more games but I'll wait for price drops on a number of third parties. I just can't afford regular full price purchases, probably only a handful each year.

However I won't spend money of that sort just to support third parties when I'm not really interested already.

I buy what take's my my interest, regardless of developer/hype and "reviews"
