Speaking of Kirby eShop, I'd love it if that apparently canned Kirby DS Pinball game by Fuse Games (now Silverball) got finished on it, kept the pre-rendered art that they're great at.

That might not be enough for a retail game possibly (sprites would be very easy on memory, so it may not even fill the smallest cart), and I don't know, but also a pinball game fits the "easy launch from menu thing", you play it for a bit then exit it. Know what I mean?

Get to it Silverball, and stick to mascot pinball games, as I saw Thomas the Tank Engine Wii that you did, yeesh, they used pre-rendered backgrounds with 3D models, but there was no real game to it, minus tiny mini-games.

Stick to pinball, that's where your pre-rendered techniques work, or you could try a 2D platformer. :P

Also, they did Frogger Pinball on Facebook and iOS recently.

Is that reference? I'm bad with allusions.

No it was just an attempt to say hello & long time no see

Interesting Gameindustry.Biz article here.

Starts off with the Nintendoomed, but gets better. I liked this paragraph.

Start with a fact that's not mentioned often enough: As of March 2012, Nintendo had over $10 billion (£6.2 billion, or €7.6 billion) in cash in the bank, and another more than half that again in premises, equipment, and investments. That is a huge competitive advantage over Sony, which is looking at a loss of over $6 billion for the year. Microsoft has a huge pile of cash, more than 5 times that of Nintendo, but they have many other places to spend money (such as the mobile phone business, and Windows 8). Nintendo can afford to spend a lot of money in order to grab market share, and can easily outspend Sony (Microsoft might be a different story if they feel sufficiently threatened).

Yeah here and there, last real one was about the CPU one weak ago, next one in 2 or 3 days about features on dev kits.

And let's hope the Nintendo Direct will bring us some interesting news ><

With all this gloom and doom talk about Sony, I can't help but think about what will happen to their studios if they do go under. Would most of them just go down with Sony, join Microsoft or Nintendos First/Second party or just go third party? Any opinions or thoughts here?

Nintendo Direct has always primarily been about software shipping in the next 2-4 months or so, so I don't see much reason to expect Wii U news from it.

The investor briefing next Thursday night should at least give us a few things to pick over, though.

I doubt many (if any) of their studios would survive, there'd be a lot of talent floating around to be poached butthats it

We can only hope at this point. It seems Nintendo is adamant on keeping information from us until E3. A big convention blowout is likely imminent. I'm excited.

Public service announcement: Nintendo Gamer doesnt know shit, uses stupid headlines, and gets everyone hyped every issue for nothing.

Nintendo Gamer is a magazine for people who like jokes about Nintendo. People are just upset that their prank rumours spread like wildfire because they were unaware of the magazines style.

Are you saying Nintendo Gamer is a troll magazine AGAINST Nintendo?

["bad" (:p) joke break] Wii U to be cupboard friendly

Nintendo worried America doesn’t have enough cupboard space for the Wii U

With the Wii and its numerous peripherals already estimated to be occupying 85% of the nation’s cupboard space, Nintendo is increasingly anxious that consumers simply won’t have anywhere to put its next console – the Wii U.

“It’s a big problem”, admitted Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and chief operating officer. “Whereas people generally like to keep their Xboxes and PlayStations under the TV, the Wii is almost always given pride of place in the cupboard, usually right at the back. American consumers are no doubt looking at the Wii U and thinking: ‘damn that’s hot, but is my cupboard really big enough for another Nintendo console?’”

Data obtained during the 2010 census indicated that the average American household cupboard contains 3.221 Wiis, a statistic Nintendo took into account during the development of its forthcoming console.

“We’ve designed the Wii U from the ground up to be completely cupboard friendly”, Reggie explained. “Whether it’s a mahogany corner cupboard, a rare 19th century Victorian cabinet or just something you picked up from IKEA, you can be sure that the Wii U will compliment your preferred home storage solution perfectly.”

To address the issue of space, Nintendo is encouraging Wii owners to consider relocating their prized machines, however emotionally daunting that might be.

“We know many owners will have spent quite some time finding the perfect spot in the cupboard for their Wii”, Reggie continued. “But the time has probably come to consider dusting it off and moving it to a new location, perhaps the garage or the attic?”

The Wii U is expected to be released during late 2012 in North America, Europe and Japan.

Jokey magazine that is pro Nintendo. It's like how Nintendo GAF makes fun of Nintendo out of love.

Their spoof Iwata Asks with Kaz Hirai was hilarious.

IWATA: Today I am joined by Kazuo Hirai, chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment.

HIRAI: Please, call me Kaz.

IWATA: Please do not call me Sat. [Laughs]

HIRAI: [Frowns]

IWATA: Today we are talking about the struggles facing the handheld market. For example, how your handheld market is struggling against our handheld market. [Laughs]

HIRAI: Very funny, Mr. Iwata.

IWATA: I am being a kidder towards you. It's good for Sony that 3DS is selling well - it gives retailers more space to store unsold Vitas. [Laughs]

This is, of course, Nintendo Gamer's fantastic April Fools prank, which I am just seeing now, because who the fuck is NIntendo Gamer?

They just realised it was a joke? This is why the magazine recieves such hate because everything on the Internet is serious business. Also it's not an Apirl Fools prank when they do one every month (latest issue is with Hawkeye).

Wait. That website is British and they were slow on the uptake of a joke. Time to hand in your NI card guys.

My wife is playing The Sims 3 and giving me a strong desire for a new Animal Crossing. Has anything been announced/shown or speculated about Animal Crossing Wii U?

So for Nintendo Direct, we can expect:

- Maybe a Kirby related news ?
(well, Iwata could have appeared with a Kirby just for the fun)

- Something about Kid Icarus (uprising, certainly, a follow-up to the recent release, to boost even more the sales.... but maybe a hint about a Wii U version ! MEGATON !)

- Theatrhythm Final Fantasy news ? Or other Indies Zero project ?

- Infos about soon-to-be-released 3DS games

- Perhaps they wish to treat a certain subject concerning the Wii U (settling the name for example) 1 month & half before the E3, to avoid having to reveal it in an impersonal and non-buzzing way in their investor's meeting :i want to believe:
