The Upad has AR as well, but using 3ds would be great for multiplayer battles.
And yu-gi-oh! Oh please do it konami!

I said it when they unveiled that the Wii U pad would use NFC: It'd be a genius move if they sold eShop titles in stores as figurines that you could collect. As a collector, I'd rather have those than game cases with DVDs, and that's the only thing (besides crazy prices, and I bet that won't happen) that would make me fully embrace Digital Distribution outside Steam.
Why sell codes to the stores when you can give them figurines? They have no choice with the 3DS, but with Wii U they should do it.
So finally some good news.
Rayman looked great but no better then Rayman Origins on PS360. Still. The tablet control was nice.
And No More Heroes 1/2My thoughts precisely. It would enhance offline multiplayer a lot for me.
Honestly, I still feel sour about Ubisoft considering their Wii support was abysmal aside from Red Steel 2.
as long as the content is not locked to these figures, it's not a big deal. i should not be required to buy figures to get more content out of my game.

Which are unfortunately, probably not counterbalancing the effort needed to make the Wii U stream to four separate controllers. I'd rather they focus on something else like making sure voice chat's ready from launch, amongst other features.
We have mentioned it before but: From the Q&As, interviews, this trailer and so on, I get the feeling that the online capabilities and social features is going the be the big focus of Wii U. The pad is obviously perfect for any kind of social interaction, from text to video with everything in between. Iwata and others have frequently mentioned how important online will be. They have also hinted at unexpected third party alliances. This doesn't have to involve gaming companies. Some sort of facebook collaberation isn't unlikely, something similar to how spotify does it with music. See what your friends are playing, from your PC aswell as Wii U, jump in, or even try it out in a demo like fashion if you don't own the game. Seeing "Friend X is playing Pikmin 3" pop up on facebook is even great advertising.
Gosh darnit, is there some type of achievement for getting the last post on two pages in a row!
>.<
I wonder what Ezio does in the game? Do you think they'll render him as a playable character in that style? I mean already have the girl with the axe
MST3K NFC?! (back in the 90s there was an interactive MST3K CDROM game in the works for PC that got cancelled) Oh, and special guest star Gamera! (my rare Gamera 3 import theater figure, he didn't come with the DVD set):

Let's get some of the obvious out of the way
LEGO City Stories.. where you can buy sets and scan them into the game? Maybe certain pieces come with additional missions.. essentially toy DLC
Hot Wheels.. someone makes a great Hot Wheel game.. and really the rest writes itself..
Actually, I can see Hasbro pursuing some of their licenses like GI Joe and Transformers. I mean folks say video games are the new toys.. make toys the new component of video games

And it's not just Nintendo ninjas they have to worry about. That temp music could get them in a heap o trouble, often movie tunes like that charge license fees *per view*. And Back to the Future ain't ginna be cheap.Holy Shit! Someone at Ubisoft's going to die for our sins.
A lot of the reason their launch stuff sucked for Wii was because they got Wii dev kits late.
And developers didn't have enough time to implement the Wii motion technology correctly.
And No More Heroes 1/2
And the Raving Rabbids series
And personally, Just Dance.
Ubisoft is a frustrating company for me, they produce a ton of fun and interesting things, but also pile on the crap at the same time.
Why's everyone so pissed off by 'one tablet'. We're in the age of online gaming, it's not like local multiplayer is void either...
It's a great compromise.
NMH 1/2 wasn't developed by Ubisoft. I didn't care for the Rabbids series and Just Dance. Kinda a shitty output if you ask me.
Dingdingdingding! When I'm done playing the game and I shelve it for X years until I play it again, I still could end-up with some sweet-looking figurines decorating the Nintendo Room. So sweet.
But if someone isn't a fan, I suppose I can see where they'd shrug at the value aspect.
(oh, and for GPW and IdeaMan: Krev came-up with an awesome idea for a game late last night, and I threw an idea or two in.. have y'all seen it yet? Really good stuff!)
The toys thing is hopefully a short-time fad like plastic instruments. The Rayman collectibles look like really easy cash cows...

Yeah i've read it, it's interesting and looks funWe definitively need a list of all those ideas, and discuss about it in a dedicated thread.

3D platformers having towards-ground-view on the DRC, making actual platforming far easier

"For example, skydiving where the TV screen gives you a third person view and the DRC shows a view of the ground so you can move yourself over to the landing position."

"Here's an idea: a 3rd person deathmatch game where all combatants are on rollerskates. Lots of melee and ranged weapons. Think very big, very vertical stages with lots of hills and jumps scattered around. Getting air is encouraged so that you can grab powerups, reach higher levels, etc. Whenever you are soaring through the air, you can look down on the uPad and see a view of the ground directly below you, with a target right in the middle of it. If you get the timing just right you can activate a ground pound/dive bomb type attack and land right on top of one of your hapless opponents."

you know what is for local multiplayer? Not having your health and ammo and other critical info displayed on the splitscreened TV when you're 4-way multiplaying, so you (A) don't give hints to your opponents about your status and (B) have more actual real estate available for your tiny quarter of the main screen.
-=-
Dimension Hop - a scrolling shooter. The shooting mechanics are relatively simple, the a third dimension is involved -- while the shooter is side-scrolling on the TV, it is a forward-scrolling game on the DRC. The DRC view is how you move into the foreground and background of the main screen (like in LBP but quite a bit more obvious and easy to manage), how you can take cover from enemy fire, how you find hidden items and other secrets "behind" objects, Super Paper Mario style.
The primary analog directional controls the character on the TV, and left/right on the other analog directional can control the extra dimension of action on the DRC"
-=-
Viral Attack! - the playing field starts sparsely filled with innocent cells. Over time, viruses of various shapes appear and start moving towards the cells. The viruses have simple, well defined shapes (many viruses in real life actually do, as they often have quasi-crystalline structure to them). Use the DRC to draw an "antibody" of the proper matched shape and "launch" it to the television screen, where you can use the analog directional and buttons to encapsulate each virus, preventing them from attaching to cells.
For each level, there is a bar indicating how healthy this area of the body is. If the health goes down to zero as viruses take over more and more cells, then you lose the game. If you destroy the viruses before health is depleted, you win the level and can go to the next stage, which contains more viruses, or fewer cells, or a wider variety of different virus shapes to defeat"
Because I still like to play split screen? Brawl and Kart is a million times better playing together and NSMB Wii / 4 Swords were great games with MP. I don't want to use a last gen controller. Especially the Wii Remote. Two tablets at a minimum or bust. Especially with games like the new Smash Bros. No one I know plays with the Wii Remote on that game. They use the Gamecube controller because those remotes just don't work well for every game. Really hoping they get it all worked out for launch.
For NFC
Brawl - trophies, special weapons, character NFC figures works similar to skylanders place near tablet, activate character (btw you do not have to remove from packaging the signal will get thru) its in game.
pokemon U(niverse)... GOLDMINE - license to print money.. few hundred characters- make a few rare models of said character, run to bank with cash-make ultra rare legendary models....
that said Rayman legends looks good
cannot wait til another leak happens
Why on earth wouldn't you want the toys you are going to buy for your kids/nieces/nephews anyway to work with a video game?
Let's say they come out with a new line of GI Joe toys, for example, to complement a GI Joe game. The game comes fully featured, and the toys unlock additional vehicles, skins, levels, or characters. You can also just download the unlock codes, if you don't want to purchase the toys.
Even after the Wii U is sitting covered with dust, you still have GI Joe toys that your kids can play with. This is a pretty good thing.
You would rather pay for DLC and get...nothing but the DLC? I like the idea that in the future when I buy DLC, I get a collectible with it. As for Nintendo not doing this before, they've done worse. They've had features that you could NEVER unlock in your game, without being at the right place at the right time (such as at the Nintendo World Store in New York). When I play a game I do not want to be forced into buying collectibles to get all features. It's as simple as that. Nor do I want a stupid unlock code. Until now, at least Nintendo did not rip me off with such crap.

Last gen? You say the same thing about the Dual Shock or the Xbox 360? There's nothing wrong with the remote and nunchuck.

Seems like you forgot what they did with the Gamecube and GBA connection.
More expensive than a 10$ DLC.
I hope not :/I am SO not looking forward to a 20 minute on-stage demonstration of NFC features eating up into the E3 press conference

There already is a official thread for this. It's old, but probably not too old for bumping.
Here are the ideas I've collected so far:
