Damn, what cinema are you going to that assigns your seat for you? Have never experienced that in my life, apart from some classy specific theaters.

70 mm Imax does it for sure.

I think it all depends on the quality of the screens the cashiers have because they have to show you the locations and seats so you can pick.

I can never remember if the best row is IJK in the middle or bust.
EE-AA is better to come back another time

Assigned seating is the best thing ever for packed theatres. Nothing I hate more than buying tickets early and then getting to the theatre and getting crap seats.

Buy early, get your seat of choice, then waltz on in 5 minutes before the movie starts. Big long lines are annoying at a movie theatre.

Just got back from seeing the movie and I loved it.

I think I also noticed a Capcpom style mistake in the credits that made me laugh. They credit Namco Bandai as Nameco Bandai. Or has that name been used for the company in the past?

they started allocating seats for every 3D showing on my local theatre. You can pick it of course but everything else was taken.

It was either this or first row tilting your head up.

I think the free-for-all method is way better, whoever gets their first rightfully gets the spot they want, rather than somehow figuring out when tickets go on sale and hoping you get a good spot..

Can't wait to watch this, hopefully this week (though no clue when cinemas here are going to start showing it).

After watching the Avengers does anyone have suggestions for non-Ultimates comics to read? I've missed out on most of the mainstream stuff in the past couple of years. Also: Is there a marvel subscription that allows me to read them all online?

As do Cineworld and Odeon. Do any UK cinemas still do it except IMAX?
I specifically went to the first showing in the middle of the day so I could avoid the crowds. They have "premiere seats" at the odeon in the UK but I completely ignore it and sit where I like (usually because the standard seats are - bizarrely - worse).

Yeah? Imagine that procedure on an airplane.

Also the people who reserve entire rows? WTF

huh?

That is the Real (tm) IMAX screen you're talking about, correct? Is that standard procedure for them?

I'm seeing Avengers next Friday on a LIEMAX screen with co-workers, but I'm taking the wife on Sat to see it on a real IMAX screen, but I haven't bought tickets yet.

Well the two 70mm's I've been to do it. Maybe it is just the chain associated. They also have an online-checkout where you pick your set numbers. But only for IMAX

Last time I checked cinemas aren't shaped like a long cylinder.

Seriously though, for huge movies and first showings I guess it makes sense, but i've never experienced those sort of crowds before so I wouldn't know if getting a good seat could get aggressive or not.

I've got to say that I loved the little touches throughout the movie, like
the agent on the helicarrier playing space invaders and Banner arriving on that tiny little moped thing in the midst of a battle with giant alien monsters
.

This is the best Super Hero movie ever made.

Period.

I fucking loved. Every detail, the dialogs, the little details for fans like
Rogers talking about Stark's building
, action scenes, the drama...

One that I loved was
Iron Man taking over Black Widow's chopper computers to blast "Shoot to Thrill". Fucking awesome.

Don't have much time so I will make this short.
I wasn't expecting much of the avengers. I never really enjoyed the standalone Marvel movies of the past few years, except for one or two here and there.

But I have to say...I was astounded.
Avengers is everything you'd want a superhero/comicbook film to be. It's witty, it's well-paced, it's gorgeous.
It's comicbook superheroes, put to life on screen in a way I have never seen before.
It is for me, and I am sure many will agree, everything we were hoping an avengers film would be. And more.
It takes the right balance of seriousness vs humour. It's just an absolute blast to watch. Every witty line is so well placed,so well timed. At least 2/3rds of this film is non-stop well produced action scenes.

It's as though the biggest fan was given a blank check to make his favourite work of art come to life.

Avengers is absolutely incredible and I will watch it again in theatres.

THIS is how you make a superhero film.

Manchester, CT theater finally put a midnight 2D showing on sale. I asked the manager why they weren't selling 2D tickets, and found out the guy I was talking to was the new general manager for the theater and he just came in a few weeks ago. Apparently he was not told they were not selling tickets for 2D because the other douchebag manager I have had issues with before never added a showtime.

Before they were only selling 3D, and in the reserve seats which are more expensive. It felt like they were fleecing people. But once I pointed out that they had no showtimes for sale, he actually set it up. So I was actually the first person to buy tickets for the midnight 2D, which felt weird doing it only a week early.

My guess is they arent selling many tickets since they didnt really have any showings to sell from. Thankfully the 2D will be in their biggest and loudest auditorium. So excited.

Just back with the missus and her bro .......

........ absolutely fucking amazing!

Probably the best comicbook movie ever (for me personally), then Batman (Burton), The Crow and then the Dark Knight.

Also best Hulk / Banner ever.

I was debating with a friend how they could make two or three movies till they get to the Civil War arc. Then, after almost an hour we realized that this was the Ultimate Universe lol.

Loved the shit out of it, great action sequences, great humor. Most entertaining film i've seen in years.

For those who watched it.
Was that Thanos after the endcredits? Fuckin awesome if so.

A Civil War movie isn't worth doing without Spidey and the Fantastic 4 anyway.

Pretty big deal considering your username. lol

That was one of the biggest cons, how the hell would they make it to put in a same movie FOX, Sony and Paramount licenses.

Paramount doesn't have any of the licenses, but Fox and Sony would be the holdups. Stranger things have happened in the past, but I don't see frugal Marvel making any sort of deal to have Spider-Man and Fantastic 4 in their movie universe.

Loved it. Some truly hilarious moments than I wasn't expecting. Epic, awesome action. Some fantastic character scenes.

Had a blast. This is what an entertaining blockbuster should look like.

Hulk fighting alongside with thor, punching him after the battle was over then hulk wiping his nose.

I was expecting that kind of scene to happen more. It felt so right.

Yeah that bit got quite a few laughs in the cinema, also, might be worth spoilering that in case some one gets upset.

So I guess they aren't playing it on IMAX here in downtown SF (Metreon)... bummed about that. I did not confirm that with the theater but the tickets are not on sale, while the 2d and 3d are. At least I know they'll be playing TDKR in IMAX later this summer :)

2D planned, but depending on showtimes I'd see it in 3D since i've heard nothing negative about the conversion.

I had quite a bit of fun with it.

It has a couple of problems, but it's such a light hearted movie that it's hard to criticize it for what it doesn't seem interested in accomplishing.

That said, I don't know if the jokes needed to be so present, and the threat sucked major ass, those Devil May Cry bosses were terrible.

In the marvel universe, pretty much every super hero is a snarky asshole now a days. Except for maybe Cap, and Luke cage.

A-.

Finally the Hulk is portrayed properly and by far the standout favourite in the theatre.

I missed some of the dialogue as people were laughing way too loud during some of the comedy/smart ass remarks.

Must go see again.
