Version 2.0 of the Indestructible deck:
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/indestructible-27/

Once again, criticism and advice is welcome. It really sucks that a few of those cards weren't Standard legal.

Even in a world of Intangible Virtue, Honor of the Pure, Tempered Steel, and Curses, I still don't think Paraselene deserves a main deck slot. This would obviously be more clear with playtesting (you might even find that I'm downright wrong here).

You may want to choose between Gavony and Vault and just include 2 or 3 of the one rather than splitting them like you are. In this deck, one of them has to be better than the other in most situations.

I know you said that you wanted to keep things cheap, but if we are being free with suggestions, I would replace the Gavony and Vault with Inkmoth (which helps out with metalcraft) and probably add a Mox Opal. (Feel free to ignore this since it does start getting expensive).

I'm still not a huge fan of Elbrus without a way of pushing it through. It's also a lot of work to get Withengar Unbound out when Go For The Throat, Tragic Slip, and Vapor Snag are so popular currently. 7 mana would probably be better suited to Karn if that's within the budget.

I'm not sure if it would be incredibly beneficial, but I would think about knocking the Darksteel Axe and Darksteel Plate down to 3x and adding a couple of Mortarpod. Mortarpod is really good at pushing that last little bit of damage through and Elspeth can easily provide the soldiers willing to give their lives for it. Would it be too expensive to add another Elspeth Tirel (in the slot of Elbrus or Paraselene)?

Is there an IRC channel dedicated to this thread? If not, why don't we get one set up? I'm too lazy to browse through the past 100 pages I forgot to read in the past 6 months and you know, I'd like to hang out with fellow Magic players who are civil, or at least idle around you guys.

Also who's excited for Avacyn Restored? It looks pretty damn fun!

Yeah, I run Geist in my W-Humans deck. It's also nice because you can also run Moorland Haunts in that deck.

Who's going to the prerelease tonight? I honestly don't think I have it in me tonight to stay up til 5am playing.

At work until 5:30 , going to be soooo tired tonight lol and even more tired tomorrow after midnight pre-release tonight and then 2pm for the Helvault pre-release tomorrow.

Tonight is the prerelease though right? I will call before I head over for sure.

I don't think any of the prereleases are even allowed to start until after midnight, so regular FNM should not be affected.

That said, if you do want to do the prerelease, you might preregister. A friend of mine got one of the last spots at the store we're going to, and their cap was 120 people O.O I had no idea there would be such a large crowd.

Ya, that's what I thought, that it couldn't start until midnight but I wasn't sure.

Ya, I'm done with troll and toad I think. My other order just came in and they didn't even put it between the card protector or any type of soft sleeve, they just threw them in a bubble envelope and were spread out. Luckily nothing was damaged in shipping but they're not even trying to protect the cards they sent. :/ Really disappointed.

My friends and I are doing a Twisted Draft tomorrow, where we all buy packs we want to draft and pass them along as one big pool, regardless of set.

I picked up packs of Lorwyn, Shadowmoor and Eventide. A friend grabbed Onslaught, Odyseey and Torment. I'm expecting to see some Mirrodin in there somewhere. Should be a fun time.

I would really like to try this sometime. I've heard of it before and it sounds like a lot of fun. I imagine some blocks/sets work better than others, though.

Yeah, I'd imagine synergies between certain sets will play a big factor here. I honestly considered really hard whether or not I wanted to spend money on nice packs or if I wanted to troll my friends, buying two packs of The Dark, two of Homelands and two of Fallen Empires and passing those around. Two packs because they came with 8 cards instead of 15, so I'd just pass the two packs as one.

I decided that would undermine the fun a little.

I would love to do this with Unglued or Unhinged. Unhinged would be a bitch with all the 1/2's that are in that set though.

So, I'm going to a prerelease event with a friend of mine tonight, and they're probably going to be doing a Draft thing (I think) but I've never done a draft before, even online. Can anyone give me some tips/pointers on how to do well in a draft?

Prioritize flyers and removal.
Mana ramp is generally very good.
General rule is 17 land and 23 spells.

I'd be down for this, though I don't know shit about setting up an IRC channel. Also, I want more gaffers to post their impressions on the AVR doc!

I don't think they can do prerelease drafts, it should be sealed.

If anything, they should stop doing sealed because it's so bomby.

I think it's a good format for a pre release when everyone is new to the cards, but I agree more competitive events (like limited GPs) would probably be better as just drafting.

Pre-releases are the only good events for sealed in my opinion since it's so casual and a lot of people are seeing these cards for the first time.

Sealed should have been done away with years ago as a PTQ and Grand Prix format though.

What does removal imply? Example please (I know, I suck with the terms right now). Mana ramps meaning too lol.
Removal is anything that gets rid of or disables an opponent's creatures. This is stuff like Doom Blade (destroy target nonblack creature) or Pacifism (enchanted creature can't attack or block) or any spell that does damage to a creature. It is useful since limited often comes down to one guys big flying thing killing the other guy. So you want to be able to kill their big thing. From what I remember from the spoiler this new set is pretty light on removal. So snap up anything you can get.

Mana ramp is anything that lets you build up a mana base quicker than one land per turn. This includes creatures or artifacts that tap for mana or spells that let you put additional land on the field (Llanowar Elves and Rampant Growth being the classic examples).

Yeah, Sealed THG is the only format I think actually works because you're trying to build two decks and it creates a lot of interesting low and high-level decisions. Regular Sealed is just...eh

Removal means removing your opponents creatures, with cards like Doom Blade and Shock. This set seems removal light, the few traditional examples at common and uncommon aren't particularly strong. I think playing strong creatures will end up being more important in this format.

Mana ramp means cards that put you ahead on land compared to if you were just playing your 1 a turn. The obvious example is Rampant Growth. Off the top of my head the only real ramp card in AVR is the 3 mana 0/1 that taps for 3 mana, which is very good if she gets going but very fragile and is rare so you won't see her a lot.
Mana fixing is finding the colours you need, the perfect example in AVR is Borderland Ranger at common which fetches a land to your hand.

lololol

Holy shit, this threads blown up since I last checked it. :lol

Not to drop support of Cockatrice but it didn't seem popular at the time and the times didn't work for most people and I've gotten extremely busy over the month when we started so yeah... sorry about dropping it with no news.

Karst is here, holy shit. Got tired of MvC3 man? :p And many new MtG:Online players. I really gotta get a pre-paid credit card one of these days and open an account already just to have one. But I really hate the fact it's "pay to play" just to play casually in comparison to M:tG: DotP.

Mine was excitinger. THAT DEVILS PLAY.

Only slightly undercut by the fact that I messed up so many times and that guy could have killed me with his slimes before I got my curse of devil's hold out.

Yeah, that was a pretty sick game. I think next time I'm playing against anybody with two different types of fog, I'll just move onto the next game. Save some time.

Or just start playing with a messload of counters.

Was that guy trying to play some sort of turbofog deck? Wait - no, he's playing Mind Unbound.

Wait. Did he have anything in his deck that deals damage?

EDIT: Oh wait - that was Sinatar. Didn't look at the name closely enough. So what...exactly...does that deck do? Deck your opponent with Drownyard or something?

What I don't get is how you prevent that deck from decking itself.

How many increasing confusions do you run?
