Just won 4 snap casters on ebay!

I have a problem :(

It's so weird. Everybody seems to want Snapcasters, yet I've had mine up for trade since I got them. I've moved everything else BUT them. I don't even treat them like anything special, they're in with the rest of my cards. People just flip by them.

Freakin' weird.

Even in a world of Intangible Virtue, Honor of the Pure, Tempered Steel, and Curses, I still don't think Paraselene deserves a main deck slot. This would obviously be more clear with playtesting (you might even find that I'm downright wrong here).
I was wondering about this myself. I'll remove Paraselene.

You may want to choose between Gavony and Vault and just include 2 or 3 of the one rather than splitting them like you are. In this deck, one of them has to be better than the other in most situations.
I feel like they offer very different things. Vault is more about the deathtouch than the lifelink. My creatures don't get very big, so I feel like it's a backup in case my opponent starts laying down fatties.

I know you said that you wanted to keep things cheap, but if we are being free with suggestions, I would replace the Gavony and Vault with Inkmoth (which helps out with metalcraft) and probably add a Mox Opal. (Feel free to ignore this since it does start getting expensive).
I thought about including an Inkmoth, because it is a good fit, but I worry about getting too many colorless mana draws in this deck, especially since I need WW to cast a lot of my guys. Doesn't Inkmoth really need the +X/+0 land (name slips my mind) to do well?

I'm still not a huge fan of Elbrus without a way of pushing it through. It's also a lot of work to get Withengar Unbound out when Go For The Throat, Tragic Slip, and Vapor Snag are so popular currently. 7 mana would probably be better suited to Karn if that's within the budget.
He'd get Darksteel Armor on him immediately, so Go For The Throat isn't really a threat. Honestly, Elbrus is just there because I think he's a goddamn badass looking card. I have a thing for demons. I actually started out making a demon deck with lots of human sacrifice, but I figured out that it was just too easy for my opponent to control.

I'm not sure if it would be incredibly beneficial, but I would think about knocking the Darksteel Axe and Darksteel Plate down to 3x and adding a couple of Mortarpod. Mortarpod is really good at pushing that last little bit of damage through and Elspeth can easily provide the soldiers willing to give their lives for it. Would it be too expensive to add another Elspeth Tirel (in the slot of Elbrus or Paraselene)?
Elspeth Tirel is more like a backup for destroying the world if Worldslayer and Day of Judgment arrive. I'll be spending her loyalty on the ultimate, not on tokens. With the way my deck is organized, I feel like Mortarpod is counter-intuitive. Why sacrifice indestructible creatures for 1 damage? It doesn't seem worth the effort. If it cost 1 mana, I would do it for Tinker Mage synergy.

This soundtrack is dedicated to the deck!
I love that song. No clue why the SF community hates it.

Karst is here, holy shit. Got tired of MvC3 man? :p And many new MtG:Online players. I really gotta get a pre-paid credit card one of these days and open an account already just to have one. But I really hate the fact it's "pay to play" just to play casually in comparison to M:tG: DotP.
I never get tired of Marvel. Just reformed my team a week ago and dropped Morrigan. I'm just very busy and making a MTG deck for fun is a nice way to get some creative energy out. I've always loved MTG, but it costs so much for someone like me.

Was that guy trying to play some sort of turbofog deck? Wait - no, he's playing Mind Unbound.

Wait. Did he have anything in his deck that deals damage?

EDIT: Oh wait - that was Sinatar. Didn't look at the name closely enough. So what...exactly...does that deck do? Deck your opponent with Drownyard or something?

Yea I win by mill (or them scooping in frustration =p).

What I don't get is how you prevent that deck from decking itself.

How many increasing confusions do you run?

I have a few elixirs of immortality in there to shuffle my GY back into my library. I've got 2 increasing confusions and some drownyards for milling.

I didn't pull it but I've got a Helvault in there too. =)

EDIT: Decklist. The Divine Reckonings would be Day of Judgements if I wasn't a cheapass.

Oddly enough, it seems like it's such a good card that people already have it if they need it by now TBH. Maybe it's the circle at my LGS but I can't seem to ever get interested in swords or the like that are expensive cards as people who wanted them got them ages ago or people who want them are so new they have nothing of value to trade. I first 4 or so pages of my binder are:

2x phyrexian obliterator
2x massacre wurm
2x gravecrawler
2x surgical extraction
3x phantasmal image
2x mox opal
3x sword of body and mind
3x birds of paradise
1x mirran crusader
1x karn
2x black sun zenith
2x sword of feast and famine

and no one seems to care. It's really bizarre, hopefully there will be people to trade tomorrow or I'll just start posting stuff on ebay. :/

Edit: Hey, are you willing to trade your 2x angelic destiny?

You should include a single Laboratory Maniac to troll.

For mad prophet, if you have no cards you can still use his ability and draw for nothing right?
Incorrect. Discarding is part of the cost to use his ability.

Still looking for Heroes?

Anybody else go to the prerelease last night? I went 4-1 and got 4 packs. My pool had a lot of good commons and uncommons but worthless, terrible rares.

I went 3-1 and got 5 packs. My deck was Soulbond based and only had two rares:
- The green lure/ growth miracle
- Cavern of Souls (played as an advertisement so people could later buy it off me for $20

Extremely weak against flying, but it beat down most other people

Time to see if I can continue my great streak of half my pre-release rares being lands. I wouldn't actually mind that in this set.

My pre-release rares have been good, but I swear I've done Innistraad sealed four times since the set came out and I've gotten three B/G lands and a U/G. And that alone is pushing me into considering trying some Golgari in RTR

Ya green soulbond is a lot more valid than I thought it'd be. I ended up not going into green right away thinking soulbond is a great way to get 2 for 1'd but that rarely seemed the case for anybody. After my first match was a loss I switched in green and did awesome the rest of the night.

Well, I bit the bullet and made an MTGO account (of course, I still haven't actually gotten into the game yet because it's taking forever to do the initial update). I don't really plan to put any more money into it just yet until I wrap my head around the interface...hopefully this doesn't turn into a real bad thing for me. :)

You guys weren't kidding. I didn't leave the store until almost 8:30, and we started right at midnight. 120 slots, filled to capacity. Played Red/Blue and had a lot of fun with it. Went up against the state champion in my first match. O.O But hey, I beat him once, that's enough.

...and I placed high enough to actually get a pack! Went 4-2 and came in 25th, I think. My friend took second and went home with 18 packs; first prize took a whole box home. I just barely squeezed by and netted one booster, and I was the last person to do so.

All told, managed to score...
-Griselbrand
-Bonfire of the Damned (omg I love this card)
-Burn at the Stake
-Terminus (foil)
-Druids' Repository
-Dual Casting
-Arcane Melee (sucks)
-Demonlord of Ashmouth
-Treacherous Pit Dweller...yes, I actually selected him from the prize pool, and I'm holding all of you responsible

Really enjoyed the new cards. I am happy to eat crow over soulbond...it was a lot smoother and more interesting than I expected it to be. Miracle, on the other hand, is janky as fuck. Overall a fun time but EXHAUSTING. My friend and I were planning on doing the 2-headed giant AVR event on Sunday, but I'm pretty sure we'll still be too burnt out.

2 people at my deck construction table pulled that damn cave >.< I couldn't believe how many were floating around, and none of them were mine :(

Edit: just based on what I saw at the prerelease, it won't be green folks who're disappointed in this set...black is gonna be a tremendous letdown for most, I think. We'll see.

I went to a midnight pre-release as well, 48 people (every other event at this store the most was only 30. It was a tight fit). Overall I didn't really enjoy the experience, mostly because it went till 7 in the morning and I didn't do too hot. I went 3-3, though to be honest I think the guy keeping score didn't record my last win because I somehow stayed in 19th place even after winning 2-0 for the last round, but I was too tired to care. I opened up an Avacyn, otherwise I got a bunch of shit. My friend got a Temporal Mastery though in one of his prize packs, which is going straight into his cube so thats purty cool.

Ah yes, and I played Blue/Black. I had a nifty little combo with Conjurer's Closet and Mist Raven where I was able to bounce one of their guys at the end of every one of my turns. Whenever I got that out I never lost. The deck actually worked really well as long as I got all my land drops.

Went 1-1-1 and dropped.

Went in with some basic playtesting and knew I wanted to go soul bond, preferable with green pump.

Pool was perfect and I even got 2 cloud shifts...my combat phases were always crazy.

I lost to someone top decking control magic to rock me with Avacyn.

Can't complain. It was super fun, wish I had time to play in another.

Hahaha yeah prerelease takes forever. Think I'm going to pass it this time and just wait for regular release and draft with friends. My body can't take long hrs like that anymore.

I actually won the prerelease today! :D In my prize packs I got a Tibalt, foil griselbrand, and a cavern of souls. I'm pretty happy.

Edit: Those green flash regen 3/3 wolves or whatever are AMAZING. It won me so many games.

Yes they are! I had 2 of them maindeck and they wreck havok.

Congrats on the win and pulls!

Thanks! I got two vexing devils too so hopefully they keep their value. I hope I get two of them tomorrow but I can't see that happening. I got shit rares in the packs to play with but after all the packs I guess it balanced out in the end. :p

Edit: I also got $30 cash for my three body and minds which I was pretty pumped about.

I'd get rid of them quick if you are going to trade, they aren't as good as some people think they are and will probably drop in value.

I went 4-2, started G/W but switched to G/B after 2 rounds to try Demonic Taskmaster. I think solo G/x is a pretty good archetype, I had 2 of the 4 counter miracle, the 2/1 that can't be blocked by creatures with less toughness, the enchantment that draws cards if you have the highest power and the 6 drop that draws a card when you play a dude. Some good beaters and card advantage.
I got a Vexing Devil and Restoration Angel in my prize packs as well so pretty happy. Did some good trades for the Grixis deck I'm planning as well. I hope the Loothouse makes it a top tier archetype as I'd like to base my drew on some net decks rather than work on it 100% myself.

I've got nothing to trade for that's how I got the second vexing devil. I was trying to get rid of one of my extra Karn's and so someone was willing to trade that so I did that so it's at least newer. Maybe I'll try to dump some of them on ebay or something... No one seems to have planes walkers, or if they do they want something that I consider more valuable such as cavern of souls or something similar which is a lot more useful to me. The rest people are willing to trade are things that no one really wants or a lot cheaper rares so you get a lot of waste in the long run.

Going off the SCG prices you could trade it for new AVR cards that will at least hold their value. It's ridiculous it's worth more than most of the good mythics (except for Planeswalkers and Temporal Mastery, which I'd also try and off load ASAP).

What are expected to hold their value? A bunch of people opened the expensive angels but I can't see them getting much play. I'm not even sure what to look for from avacyn that's safe. The only thing I thought was possibly playable if you can get angels going is the restoration angel. She's a very playable card for her cost and not bad to get.

And linking tandem lookout with wing crafter is AMAZING. So much card draw, especially if they don't have any fliers and you don't even really care about the pinging, which still is pretty good, but the idea you're drawing all that time.

Edit: I have a foil Griselbrand I'm assuming I should dump soon also...

Did pretty well today, going 2-1. I was U/G on the back of Champion of Lambholt, Soul of the Harvest, and Deadeye Navigator along with some great ETB effects, my partner was doing R/W based on having a Tibalt, a fair amount of the set's scant removal, and some good early and late drops.

Deadeye Navigator + Mist Raven = Ownage

We got some good rares as well, including the U/G Flash land, Reforge the Soul, a regular Moonsilver Spear and a premium Otherworld Atlas. Everyone in my playgroup got prizes so we're just going to hold onto the packs and do a draft next week.

Ya, Deadeye Navigator is actually really good in limited. I had him in my deck also. It's bad enough he's a 5/5 but his ability just makes him insane. I think I only had to use his ability once too. Defang and similar enchantments just seem so useless in limited right now due to the bounce exile stuff that's in this set. It literally stops them for half a turn if that usually or that was my experience when they did it to my creatures. Too many options to bounce/exile to free your creature.

Well I used the Navigator and the Mist Raven to basically bounce three of their creatures a turn. As soon as I got that out the game was basically over

Went to a second prerelease, first time I've ever done that lol. Went 4-0-1 and took 2nd place, 10 packs. Promptly traded them and the Tamiyo I got from my sealed pool for more stable stuff. Overall a pretty good weekend and I def won't be doing any limited for a few weeks.

Had a blast at the prerelease today. Played r/w and went 3-1-1. Got beat in top 8 though. But I did win a hunt master and a hellrider. Thunderous blast is amazing!

Haha, that's pretty funny. Unfortunately I didn't have any great ETB abilities except for borderland ranger which was good enough to mana fix and to thin my amount of lands. Especially after going U/G with a splash of red, it was a pretty sweet mana fix.

Nice! My LGS finally changed the pack distribution to wins and not so much tournament style. So the only 4-0 gets 10 packs, 3 wins get 7, etc., etc. instead of the old style of only top 4 get packs. There were only 3 or 4 people whining about it before we started because they usually rank high and I beat 2 out of the 3 to win it so I was happy to see them not win it. I like the more even distribution of packs, it's a lot more fun for me so I hope they keep it.

Placed second in my local pre-release.

Silverblade Paladin + Druid's Familiar = LOLOLOL

Haha, nice. Another one I saw wreck face if you get it early is silver blade paladin (that's the one who gives double strike right?) and the other soul bound who gives haste and link them together. He got both out by turn 3 or 4 and it was just all downhill for the other guy. It was freaking insane.

Edit: Ya, it was turn 2 lightning mauler, turn 3 silver blade paladin. Most decks just weren't able to handle it if he got it out that early in the game. So unfair.

Ya my LGS has a pretty good showing but doesn't give only a few, high pack payouts. Even though I usually place pretty high there, I'm glad that you can go 3-2 and still get 2-3 packs. It lets everybody have a lot more fun with it and not get pissed at every loss. I can't even imagine if they did tournament style with eliminations. That seems so unfun especially for something like a prerelease that's more about the newer players.

Ya, and people started making deals to purposefully draw and go to time to split packs and stuff and it just became really stupid. I enjoy this new distribution and 99% of the people did too. I'll definitely take less even coming in first if someone with 2 or 3 wins still gets a pack or two, it makes it more fun for everyone. Especially after round 2, with the tournament style you still had to play but you got no packs so your "prize" was sort of pointless, glad it finally changed.

Edit: Used to be 14, 10, 7, and 5 I believe to split the box and that was it.

A 9/9 creature you say? Meet Haunted Armor, Defender, First strike, soulbound to Nightshade Peddler for deathtouch! The ultimate wall. Kid was butthurt to say the least.

Made out pretty nice.
2 Vexing Devils (1 foil)
2 Archwing Dragons
1 Tibalt
1 Misthallow Griffon
2 Revenge of the Hunted (1 foil)

Among other things. Did back to back pre-releases. Got 2 giant cards, 2 dice and 2 tokens :D

On the subject of my first foray into MTGO:

So apparently there are a couple of other "Planeswalker Packs" you can buy in the MTGO store. I just got my ass handed to me readily three games in a row by people rocking planeswalker format cards that didn't come in my "starter set." I guess I should have figured that the initial $10 investment wouldn't be good enough even in the newbie lobbies. :)

Oh well. At least I did learn how the UI works and figured out how to set stops during key phases. I'd rather learn in those lobbies than my first draft.

7th out of 40 last night, 2 and 2 today so didn't bother to even check lol.

Opened a Tibalt which I traded for a Tamiyo.
Opened a Grizzlebrand, 2 Archwing Dragons, Reforge the Soul, Angel of Jubilation, 2 Cathar's Crusade, Divine Deflection (which saved my ass last night when I top decked it against someone beating my ass with Grislebrand) , Killing Wave (which saved my ass also) , Ulvenwald Tracker, Otherworld Atlas and a couple of other things.
All and all not bad.

From the Helvault I got oversized Grislebrand, the green white and white blue angels, and 4 tokens with one spindown.

My buddy got a foil vexing devil and sold it as soon as it ended for $20. Which creature is a 9/9? There's something that big that isn't flying?

WHAT. Who was stupid enough to Tibalt for Tamiyo? Please tell me it wasn't a straight up trade between the two...

Indeed, straight up.
I think he was having a wee bit of trader's remorse today, but he made some good trades and got over it.
I saw someone pick up a Cavern of Souls for a stack of things from their junk trade folder.

FUUUUU I want to go to your game shop. They're not even close to price, it's like almost double. It sucks at mine, everyone hears they're good cards so they try to like extort stuff for them and it just winds up with them getting nothing. One kid I was trying to trade with wanted to much over trade value for temporal mastery.

So has there been any final word on whether the Titans will be reprinted in M13? I'm thinking of selling this Primeval Titan I just pulled.
