1-10 for each character (i.e. Captain America: 7) how well represented/likable are each of the characters in this movie? Not talking just screentime but that they were done right? I know Iron Man will get his time on screen, and have no ideas about the others.

So, uh, what's all this about a new scene in the film after the credits? For the American release? It's a mighty intriguing prospect.

I don't know about that. Mild spoilers:
I believe it's the same all over the world and it will leave non-comic book readers a bit perplexed.

Hulk is the consensus 10.
Stark has a few nice zingers.
People are pretty disappointed about Thor, but I liked him in the movie.

That one happens after the fancy CG part of the credits, then the rest of them happens. Rumor is there's a new scene after the rest of the credits too.

Thor and Caps were fine. They are just not specially witty characters. Stark is a real comedian, though, and even the Son of Coul had some great moments.

agreed. i think everyone is portrayed pretty well. even hawkeye and widow are ok (hated widow in iron man 2).
some characters (hulk, cap,) are even better here than in their own movies.

We know for sure they filmed something with at least Thor, Banner and Iron Man. Just if it's for an actual post-credits scene for the US-only release is questionable, in addition to the mid-credits scene that's already in there. Coulson wasn't involved, or at least he was being very coy about it.

I think it's very possible, even if it's so close to release and everything. But I don't expect something huge. Possibly just a tiny thing they filmed to latch onto other stuff they filmed earlier.

I think everyone was pretty balanced out, and it'll largely come down to personal preference rather than a character not being well executed, I think. I honestly can't put a number score on them for this movie. Everyone is a badass in their moments, and at the same time we get a look into who they are. Just as I think to type who was my least/most favorite characters, I am reminded by a certain scene or line that balances them out.

Really amazing how even the playing field really is. Certainly people may come out being fond of one character more than another, but it won't be a knock to the rest or a flaw in design, just personal preference.

That's how you know this was a very well done movie; the character dynamics. Can't believe they pulled it off as well as they did, definitely not an easy task.

Sweet. I've always been a huge Hulk fan since I was a kid, and neither of his films satisfied me a crazy amount. I figured Thor would be the most forgotten out of everyone, or show the least amount of character in this film.

Everything was balanced well in my opinion. Everyone got their time to shine, and everyone has an important role.

I think Whedon deliberately played down Thor because he didn't want to retread the same conflict as in, well, Thor. And that works fine. There is one moment with him that I found brilliant which is an excellent callback to his first film and shows how far he's developed as a character.
Thor confronts Loki one last time during the final battle and urges Loki to stop. Loki replies that "there's no stopping it, there is only the war." To which Thor replies "so be it."
It's a direct callback to the exchange between
Odin and Laufey in the first film, only this time it's their sons.
Nice little touch. "A wise king never seeks war, but he is always ready for it."

Lesson for film companies: When releasing a film property with multiple characters in it with established films, make them available for digital rental and not just buy only. Heck, it even makes a good time for a rental sale! Now I need to go out to Redbox, which isn't far, but still doesn't help the film studio get rental profits and a potential ticket for The Avengers. It's not going to get me to buy a copy that's one thing!

EDIT: If you have an unredeemed Digital Copy Code for Thor, Captain America, or Hulk, let me know I'll give five bucks for each one.

It is a bit expensive but I think you can rent the movies on iTunes for like $5 or something. I think I saw The Incredible Hulk for $5 at Best Buy in the weekly ad this week as well, can't remember though.

Saw this earlier, great film, exactly what I was expecting. Pretty much every character has their defining moments. Hats of to Hulk and IM though, some great little interchanges.

Waited for the first post-credits scene, not being a huge Marvel guy I had to Google it to see exactly what was going on. Gutted I may have missed a second though??
There was only the mid-credits thing, nothing post-credits. There is a very slight chance they will have something extra post-credits for the US release but nothing yet.

I saw it. And honestly, it fits as a straight up children's movie. So that's how I treated it and it was really cool.

Iron Man is still Marvel's best imo.

Fuck, okay anything else from the animated realm that's decent (well besides Batman Under the Red Hood) that's rentalable at Amazon?

Planet Hulk is... OK? It's kinda strange. That's all I've seen. Going by Planet Hulk, whatever you're going to watch is made with kids in mind more so than, say, DC's D2V efforts. Maybe other GAFfers swear by Next Avengers or something, IDK.

Planet Hulk's problem is that they condense the story way too much. Planet Hulk then War World Hulk are damn good reads, damn good.

Planet hulk is worth it just to see beta ray bill animated.

I remember liking the hulk vs wolverine and hulk vs thor, not sure if there rentable though.

So basically with Marvel Animation...it's kind of for kids, so work within those confines. I might still get The Avengers for the hell of it. Probably shouldn't have watched Under the Red first as it sets expectations too high (and the DC vs Marvel Difference).

Superman Doomsday had that problem. Felt way way to damn condensed.

I liked Hulk Vs Wolverine.

I'm watching Capt right now with my kid. I hate the second half of the movie. It loses all of its sense of wonderment and adventure.

It just hurries into everything. The second half is like this weird continuous montage and then out of nowhere you're in an action scene that lasts for about 30 seconds.

Movie has some fucked up pacing.

Black Widow and Hawkeye got more screen time than Thor. That is upsetting. Also the editing in one scene was strange.

Thor tumbling to the Earth in that cell..when he lands and sees his hammer across the field, the scene ends. 15 minutes later, the Avengers are heading to New York. Only then does Thor pick up the hammer. Wtf was he doing all that time, doing some gardening? lol

I agree. I think the first half, however, is the best the studio has produced in terms of depicting a hero. Steve Rogers is so endearing

rewatching Iron Man 2 and I didn't notice the first time 'the make way for tomorrow'
song really reminds me of the Worlds Fair theme from Mask of the Phantasm

I thought that it was supposed to show
him being hesitant about trying to pick up Mjolnir, although I'm not sure why. The way he just looks at the hammer and then his hand gave me that impression. But yeah, it's kind of an odd scene.

I have one for Captain America & Thor if you want them.

Just finished watching The Incredible Hulk. It was kinda meh. Didn't think it was that bad, but it kind of lacked flavour or something. Never been a big fan of the Hulk as a character to be honest.

Err..
what happened to The Abomination afterwards?

I guess I'll be in the minority on this one. I enjoyed myself, but was rarely invested in anything going on. It didn't have the layer of heart that Captain America had, which I was hoping Whedon would nail. There are some super entertaining moments, but I honestly did not feel any sort of stakes throughout, mostly due to the bland villain and his army. The first hour just feels like its going through the motions. We've already seen Nick Fury let these people know he is bringing them together, why the need to drag it out? Still, Whedon does inject lots of much-needed comedy and the pacing is spot-on. I just wish I cared about anything going on. Also, the 3D was OK but I took my glasses off during one of the dialogue scenes and enjoyed myself much more. Perhaps a 2D viewing will add more.

It's revealed in The Consultant one-shot, which is on the Thor blu-ray. It also ties The Incredible Hulk nicely into the Avengers. You can find it on youtube, I think.

Ross has him.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for The Hulk digital copy but the one that came with the blu-ray has been expired since 2009.

Gotta love those free digital copies.

Yeah, I figured Hulk would be toast (but that's actually rentable).

It's actually really good with ICloud once they added movies. I long sold my copies of The Dark Knight and My BLoody Valentine 3D (still have Rambo), but when that service went up those movies came right back up for download!
