Cap is fast, strong, uses his shield a lot and in inventive ways. Shows he's an expert in hand to hand.

Thor... fucks shit up, flys around liberally, really feels like a demi-god.

Iron Man uses cooler gadgets and better smarts than in either of the movies.

Hulk..... Dude. Hulk smashes.

Hell even Black Widow and Hawkeye do plenty of cool shit that feels relevant to their skillset.

I leave the theater very satisfied and again it shows why Steve/Capt. is my alltime favourite character.
How he handles the leader role and as a very competent strategist and as a simbol of determination without being a super beign like the Hulk or Thor or having the technology of Stark. And of course the whole "Hulk, SMASH" order, got me giggling like a schoolgirl

Why doesn't Tony just give him an Iron Man suit then?

There seems to be two types of superhero movies, one taking itself seriously or a complete action/comedy. At least for the Avenger characters, I think the action/comedy route is the way to go. I'd say the Hulk and Captain America ones leaned more to the 'serious' side of things, and they didn't work out to well.

Just when this movie's finally releasing here in the US, life kicks me in the balls and I won't be able to see it this weekend. Had to buy medical supplies and other stuff. I want to see this movie as soon as I can though.

It's killing me since the impressions have been great so far, sounds like Whedon knocked it out of the park.

Hulk? Really?
After the already mentioned "Hulk, Smash" bit and how Hulk punches Thor out of nowhere and then he beats the shit out of Loki like a ragdoll?

As much as I like Whedon...Im was really worried how he would do the action scenes, because I dont think any movie/show in his repertoire had a really big action scene...glad to see from reactions that I no longer have to worry

I assume you bought your tickets before hand.
Yup, we all got our tickets as soon as they went on sale a couple of weeks ago. Interestingly enough, as of yesterday, the theater added a second screen at midnight. So the first must have just sold out.

First screening at my theater sold out. They added four more.

The audience at my theatre was
in stitches during all of those moments.

Cap is my favourite one. They absolutely nailed his heroic nature and get you rooting for him from the very beginning. That kind of charisma and respect is exactly what Captain America is all about, and they could have failed miserably at portraying it and ruined the film.

I can assure you, there's a long take at the end that is singlehandedly better than just about any action scene in a comic book movie before, with very few exceptions such as Spider-Man vs. Dr. Octopus.

So I will like this movie according to your theory.

I look forward to your review

Fixed, based on what GAF has said so far. (Basing it on their ranking of Marvel movies after their meh reviews)

I will concede

I liked Iron Man the first time I watched it. After that I cared less about it.

I liked the first half of Captain America. The rest was shit.

help me figure this out!

You will like the second half of the Avengers but not the first
this is me

I can confirm this

Captain America (the character) was cool in The Avengers though

Character's cool, actor isn't

It's amazing how much of an 'Ultimates' vibe this poster gives off, it almost looks like an exact copy of a pane from the series;

Also, one part I thought was funny
Jet about to take off with a nuke. Sam Jackson: Ohshit, I better shoot a rocket at it to stop it, not like my depth perception is totally fucked anyways. lol small thing but kinda funny.

It would've been hilarious if he had missed. "MOTHA FUCKIN EYE PATCH"

Latest tracking (for domestic) is that it's outpacing SM3 which opened to 151M. Still everyone keeps saying 150M+ mainly because we'll get a better idea of the weekend numbers when the Friday estimates come in.
I can't wait to see the midnight screening numbers. I doubt it will beat Deathly Hallows' midnight take, but that should set the tone for the rest of the weekend. Thursday midnight aside, The Hunger Games out performed DHII over the rest of the weekend.

That's great to hear. IMO The Avengers as a concept succeeds or fails depending on how the setting and plot are structured around cap.

Sorry haha, I was talking specifically about the Captain America movie. Duckroll and other people are saying that they did a very good job of fitting Cap into Avengers though, so I don't think we'll be disappointed.

Looking forward to GAF consensus, my predictions are:

people who like Iron Man at least and dislike Captain America will like this movie

people who like Captain America will love this movie

people who dislike Iron Man will dislike this movie

people who like Fantastic 4, get the fuck out

But I thought this was Fantastic 6?

well fuck me, no real (tm) IMAX showing in Orlando, at all. :( Just on the LIEMAX screens.

Oh well, I did just purchase my ticket for tomorrow at 10:20pm, though. :)

I dont think it has an outside chance of getting close to DH2's midnight numbers.

Lol, oh well. For what its worth I agree with your comments as they are applied to the Cap movie.

I'm seeing it tomorrow at 320pm EST in 2D

They only added the 2D screenings yesterday when I was just about to get the 3D tickets.
