Cap kind of sucked in this movie. He was slow to figure things out,
struggled to take out a lone peon enemy soldier
, has no aim, and Iron Man always makes him look like a fool. Plus his suit is just plain silly. Cap should be a ruthless, badass killer and quit playing Boyscouts.

Looking back, literally the only think I would've liked that was absent was a
War Machine
cameo. There was no reason he wouldn't have been available and he's well-known to SHIELD. It's actually a (very minor) plot hole that he isn't even mentioned.

His leadership skills were on point throughout though. The one who came up short was Thor imo. It feels like Hulk has all the same powers + more established charisma. Thor just doesn't have as much distinct stuff to do when you have a giant green dude who can do a lot of the same stuff while going nuts all over the place.

Nobody cares about him. That thought never crossed my mind one time. My only thought was when will I get to see Hulk fuck some more shit up again?

Now that I think about it, this is Joss Whedon's biggest success. He has a loyal fanbase, but his projects usually don't end up being so well received. This is not only going to make serious cash money, but the general public is eating it up. Kudos.

I enjoyed it, the chemistry was there. This is exactly what an Avengers movie needed to be. It was fun and even during the more serious moments, it didn't forget that it was a popcorn flick.

The crowd popped so hard that I didn't hear

what Hulk said after ragdolling Loki. What did he say?

Also, solid movie. They didn't do character drama a second longer than they needed to. It just kept moving.

Just got back home from my viewing, really had an amazing time. Definitely going to go see it again tomorrow if my local theater has it.

It came at a great time, I just got into Marvel this past month, particularly Iron Man (he's always been a personal favorite) and the film stirred my interests even more. Now that I'm all caught up on Iron Man, I think I'm gonna start delving into Avengers, good shit!

Man. This movie was so very good. I was in awe the whole time. LOVED the extra scenes during the credits. I may actually try seeing it again soon, but in 3D. I don't normally watch movies in theatres multiple times.

Post-credits (final final) bonus scene is the greatest of its kind. Phenomenal, and not just because
it's a callback. My mind was so inundated with awesome that I didn't even make the connection to shawarma and I was still rolling. It was so awesome and hilarious to see the crew just passing out to food in whatever NYC diner wasn't trashed in Act 3.

Gonna need to put pick up some comics to figure out who
Thanos
is, because everybody and I had like no idea who that guy was. Looked like a mix between
Hellboy and Green Lantern
.

I NEED an X-Men movie like this. All out with Sentinels, time travel, aliens, Phoenix, everything.

Fuck, I know! RIGHT? It grieves me to know that the X-Men just couldn't have been born to the same circumstances as this film, and received the same attention, budget and casting that this did. They'll still always be my favorite superhero team.

There were a lot of people dressed up as various characters at the theater I went to, but the best one I saw was a guy who had green face paint on, a green shirt, a ripped flanel shirt on top, and ripped jeans.

Thanos
has always been one of my favorite villans. Never expected to see him in a movie. The next three or four years are going to be tough waiting for the sequel.

^^ i never expected that either. in a million years.

YES!

It is literally my child self dream come to life. It took a little long but it finally happened. This is a Saturday morning superhero cartoon made into live action.

Exactly, aside from a few MINOR MINOR gripes it feels like the best comic-book adaptation i've ever seen.

Now that our confidence in a group film to bookend individual films has been satisfied, knowing that Marvel plans to do it again with another cycle (if all the 'stars' align - literally and metaphorically) makes me quiver with fucking glee. Long live the new Marvel movie universe.

Stupid Hulk question:

So, did Bruce just learn to maintain control when he arrived in manhattan and hulked up? It seemed like Tony both knew he was coming, and that he'd be a surefire asset.

As much as i loved this damn movie, I feel like it's not one of those movies that will be awesome to watch again right after seeing it.

Some of the best stuff were things that we didn't think were going to happen but we wanted to happen.....but knowing its going to happen makes alot of those best parts lose its appeal.

I think this one is to be savored after the first viewing and to relish it until DAT BLU RAY

It did for me. Watched it once by myself, another with friends, and just made plans to watch it on iMAX this weekend.

i think he had been learning to control it during his time away in small countries but probably only when he himself initiates the transformation? the helicarrier thing he lost control of.

I take it the
Hulk catching Tony
bit was heaviy featured in the trailers? I felt like I was the only person to have an audible reaction to that. This is the exact reason I avoid trailers, I get to see the holy-shit-awesome stuff from the end of a movie, like, in the movie!

Hey, remember those "this will look like a TV movie because it's Joss Whedon" people? They were cute, lol

wait, WHAT?! when was this??

Yeah it was, it was the "big' Hulk moment in the trailers. Luckily the movie has sooo many golden Hulk moments that trump it. Easily.

One thing I quite didn't get was how did
Thor get back to Earth exactly? Loki said something about black magic but I don't recall the details

Their dear father aka Odin, used his own power to send Thor back to claim the Tesseract. That's why without it, Thor and Loki are kinda stuck on Earth.

Bruce did mention how when he tried to kill himself the Hulk stopped him by taking over long enough to stop the bullet. Bruce basically puts himself in danger again forcing the hulk to save itself.
I think the self preservation transformation likely makes it easier for Bruce to control than pissed off unplanned rage.

Man I loved this, every single character had their moments.
fake Imax nuked my eyes though.

is
Agent Coulson
an original character created for these movies?

To be fair, outside of the effects-heavy scenes, there are many points where the film absolutely looks like a TV show. Of course it didn't matter in the end, because it's just a lot of fun, but it still has Whedon's flair all over it.

it's shown in the end of The Incredible Hulk, near the end where he meditates to control his transformation.
