I think you mean "The Ultimates" volume 1 (13 or so issues) and volume 2 (also around 13 iirc). "Ultimate Comics: Avengers" comes along way further and is 3 volumes of 6 issues each, iirc, and isn't that great imo.

Stick the "The Ultimates".

Could you find it on Comixology's website and post a link for me? I apologize for seeming like a total idiot...I just don't want to buy the wrong comic after I bought a 12 page Nick Fury tie (99 cents, but still), plus when it comes to comics I'm as backwards as I am with the death penalty. ;)

Thanks!

So Cabin in The Wood as well as Avengers have been reason enough for me to want to check out Firefly. Glad it's all on Netflix. I hope I like it.

If you, don't forget about Serenity. In fact, maybe you should watch Serenity even if you don't like Firefly.

Here you go, chum - two of the better action movie storyboards that Mark Millar's committed to the page:

Alien Resurrection and his inability to man up to this responsibility makes up most of the hate, I assume.
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Comi...-J-Abrams-At-The-Visionaries-Panel-19755.html
-- Asked about their own personal moments of extreme fandom, Abrams confessed to owning "the tongue" from The Exorcist, which apparently terrified his mom. Whedon countered that he didn't own anything nearly as cool, but "I do have an Alien egg, but I had to bury the franchise to get it"-- referencing his writing gig on Alien: Resurrection of course.

Does that not count as manning up?

I know you guys shared some effects work with Weta on Avatar and that a movie might have a myriad of other effects houses for all kinds of random stuff but is it that common for two big studios to share responsibility? How do you guys even figure that out? Do you look at the scope of the film and decide what is feasible for your studio to take on and the producers have to find another effects house for the rest of the shots?

I'm not sure what the specifics are for this particular project, but generally when a studio puts out something for vfx bidding each vfx house puts in their estimates for how much it would cost for them to do each shot, and if possible some samples of what it could look like. There's a bit of back and forth as scripts/storyboards/screenplays are adjusted as well as the usual price haggling. Eventually the studio makes the final call and gives out contracts for each sequence or set of sequences, usually with one vfx house getting a good portion of the work and the other companies splitting the rest with the main vfx house overseeing the rest of the vendors (to try and help keep a consistent look across vendors).

Xia,

Quick question can you tell me who did the work on the
Shield base destruction
and the
aircraft carrier
Pretty sure the first one was Digital Domain, the second one was shared between ILM and Weta.

Good choice. It's easily the best science-fiction TV series ever

also possibly shortest science-fiction TV series

Protip: if you find yourself not feeling the first episode make sure to at least wait until you meet River. If you are compelled to continue then make sure to stick with the series through episode 5 while the show finds its legs even if you think you might not be feeling it. My favorite episode is a few after that.

Cool, please tell any of your collegues that I loved all the little details (reminded me of the things Eiji Tsburaya would have in his model cities) and how it looked real, even though I know in my head it can't be. The 12 year old in me would also love it as a toy (much like a GI Joe one that I once owned)....okay that's a lie...I'd still buy it.

Oh I don't know if you can answer, while I assume lots of people have friends at the various houses, how competitive is ILM and the other houses with each other businesswise, is it lots of bid competition or is it usually enough to go around that it's not trying to have takeaway and more aggressive tactics? Lord knows if it is WETA can just have Richard Taylor get in someones face. lol

My wife and I loved it even never seeing the show. Hell, I still only have seen an ep of the show. I think issue comes from "fans of the show" vs the show itself.

Thank you so much! I thought I might have been looking at the wrong one (and I was).

That site is a hassle to search for shit by the way.

You can buy The Ultimates in two parts, issues #1-6 ($10.99) here, and then issues #7-14 ($14.99) here.

Or of course, you can buy them issue-by-issue if you want, but I reckon those packages are the cheaper (and more convenient) option.

THEN there is The Ultimates 2, which is another 14 issues. I can't seem to find a package deal on the site other than for issues #1-6, but a collection deal for #7-14 seems to be nonexistent.

Either way, finish the first Ultimates before jumping onto the 'sequel', anyway. Ultimates 1 is better anyway. :p

[edit] beaten like a dead horse

You just got to get over that. If I didn't start watching Battlestar because I really couldn't stand the annoying people in college talking about it, I would of missed out on damn good television.

Thanks, I agree the site is a pain in the ass. The site is also really slow to load new pages, I have no clue why.

I just got the first three issues as it's only a buck overall more for part 1 as a package.

man my theater was weird for the trailers
TDKR=silence
Prometheus=booed
Spiderman=crazy cheers

They booed Prometheus? WTF. Even if they had no idea what it was (and I doubt many of the average theatregoers do) the second trailer was fantastic. Love the music and editing.

Spiderman I get because he's one of the biggest superheroes of all time but that movie looks like a piece of shit.

I hope my theater in The Netherlands plays the version with the second credits screen tomorrow, since it should be digital. Not much trust though, at Captain America I also was the only one who stayed to watch The Avengers trailer. They even already closed the front door when I came out.

I´ll still try and stay here till after the credits though, probably coming out disapointed.

Oh man, all these positive reactions to the flick are killing me. I have to wait untill a buddy of mine has some free time, but he needs to hurry up :(

Say whay, I would have punched those people

I didn't get the Spidey trailer. I had:

Brave: Crowd was still rowdy from before the reel started. Barely paid attention.
Frankenweenie: Silence.
The Dark Knight Rises: Someone yelled out "Everyone shut the fuck up!" when the DC logo appeared. Crowd went silent. People applauded at the end.
Prometheus: Interested murmuring after it went off.
ParaNorman: Silence.

My midnight showing was running late. The only trailer we got was for The Dictator which looks like shit. I was glad because though. I brought my headphones because I don't want to see or hear anything more about DKR or Prometheus before their own midnight showings.

I am digging the new spiderman stuff. I get why some people are hating it. They aren't liking the reboot. Not liking the new suit. Or Peter Parker's hair (those people are probably bald).

The line Peter delivered in the trailer about the knife was awkward. I know they were trying to showcase Peter's humor but Garfield sounded bad.

Mine was:

Some silly trailers (like 5) I can't remember: people talking, not paying attention
The Dark Knight Rises: Instant and complete silence at the DC logo, huge cheers after/during plane sequence
Amazing Spider-Man: laughs during, applause after but not as much as TDKR
Prometheus: (seemingly awed) silence, then somebody went "come ON! That deserved applause!" followed by a smattering of claps
Frankenweenie: Confusion, awkward laughter, sarcastic clapping and cheering after. Me turning to the friendly people next to me: "Seems like they could have chosen a much better order for those trailers..."
