Might want to spoiler that.

Speaking of which-I say it's time to either release the spoiler tags here-OR have a separate, spoiler friendly thread for this movie.
I don't understand why you need to. This is my first time in this thread and it's what...over 100 pages. I came in here to ask question about it AFTER seeing the movie!

Because some people don't know yet what the mid-credits scene reveals, nor do they want to until seeing it-but I personally feel that we should be no longer spoilerling things, personally.

Yeah. Gonna do my part for that record. Going on Sunday, probably a matinee. Anybody in South FL want to meet up to see it/see it again on Sunday?

edit: There is a spoilery thread.

I'm just glad
he didn't go out in the first scene. He got a good death sequence, even getting a really good hit on Loki.

I absolutely agree. I was always
lukewarm on Coulson, but he did a fantastic final jab at Loki. After watching A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer, I liked him even more.

I think its time people who don't want the movie spoiled and yet to see it not hang out in a thread title after it on the day after its worldwide release.

These spoiler tags are making me lol.

Seriously, its awesome, just watch and come back. Silly people.

Easily the best Marvel movie that I have ever seen. I thought Captain America and Thor had a good amount of humor but this has them both beat. So witty and campy. I didn't think this could really work out but seeing each character on screen in the same movie kinda surprised me. It wasn't overwhelming but more of a "wow" moment.

Also, the teamwork during the fights was a great touch and could be missed if one isn't paying attention.

So the way Thor comes to Earth as a throwaway line wasn't a very satisfying explanation. It still seems plausible though but I was hoping for something more creative.

I think if they explained it any more they would have dragged on what was already a long conversation between him and Loki. Odin somehow sent him to earth as the protector, we'll know more in Thor 2.

In the comics, isn't he able to travel between Earth and Asgard just by twirling his hammer?

Why can't all comic films be like this?

Great humor and action, not a character I didn't like.

Pretty much this.

Less exposition, more hero vs. hero action, please!

I really hope
colsen isn't dead

Same.
Me and my buddy at work were talking about it. I thinks he is alive just for the fact that it could be used as a good plot point for the next Avengers and Fury already lied about the cards. Would be cool if they had the whole Avenger crew give the fuck you to Fury.

I think he does get that ability and it works in a similar manner to how Odin sent him to Earth in this movie, but he doesn't have it yet in the MCU.

i read there are two after credits ending. I saw the Thanos one and what is the other?

all the Avengers sitting in that restaurant Stark was talking about going to when Cap mentioned it wasn't over yet after Stark came back to Earth and all that (Loki). They were sitting there, looking tired as fuck, eating sandwiches in a half-standing restaurant lobby. Not talking. Not looking at each other. Just looking bored, tired and hungry as they took bigass bites of sammiches. It was awesome.

Which is why Thor
needed both hands just to stave off one fist from Hulk? He hit Hulk with Mjollnir to the face and it just made him angrier and stronger. Thor was getting his ass handed to him before the fighter jet bailed him out, all he could do was try to contain the Hulk long enough to get him off the helicarrier. Thor and Loki went at it for a good few minutes, Loki lasted a couple seconds before Hulk smashed.
The difference in strength is pretty clearly established. Hulk is the strongest there is. No puny God can match him.

Hulk can't
lift the mjolnir
so what is he going to do if
you pin him down with it
?

Thor also has
a cube that can create an energy field that nothing can penetrate unless sourced from the same material
and Hulk always becomes Banner eventually where Thor is always the same badass.

Thor can't match Hulk in pure muscle, I'll give you that, but beating someone is not about pure muscle all the time.

The scene was awkward and perfect.

Nah Coulson should remain dead even though I like him quite a bit. If you bring him back in any form, it cheapens the whole first movie. His death gave them the push.

The cards also gave them the push but Fury took the cards from the locker.

Like a construction crew unwinding after a long day working in the heat. A clever, funny, humanizing shot. And people who will see it on youtube instead of right after the film, will probably just scratch their heads.

It was the perfect ending

That is what I loved about it. It was both humorous and humanizing. Just kinda settled things back down after the insanity of the last hour of the movie.

Trully last after credits scene
Well that was ... boring =P
Watch while it lasts

For the international crowd who didn't got this bonus scene

Nat/Clint's exasperated food coma pose, Capn just looking bored, goddamn hilarious. I was so busy looking at Tony and Thor that I missed all that.

Hilarious!

Proud to be a Boss Whedon groupie since 1998. Now the world knows. Fuck yeah!

There's no way they can
bring Coulson back and have it work. There are several dynamics involved, beyond the manipulation of Fury. It would reveal Coulson to be something he's not: Fury-like.

If he faked his own death somehow, with a decoy from the comics for example, it would shine him in a bad light and make the character worthless imo. If it was all by Fury's doing, where was the real Coulson?

It can't work. Deal with it.

That scene reminded me a lot of
the pineapple express ending
when watching it I had a odd feeling that was gonna be a scene at a point. Thankfully I was right.

Can't they just say they
relived him some how it is a comic book universe.

Comic Thor and Comic Hulk have been consistently portrayed as more or less a draw in strength (and yes, i do have scans of Thor immobilizing an angry hulk for hours) but I agree- Hulk was clearly the brawns of this movie, But Thor's abilities were more varied- calling down lightning, tricks with the hammer, etc.

Great job making every character distinct and like "real" people. I liked Ruffalo as banner a lot more than I was expecting to.

I know it's still early, but has Marvel/Disney locked Whedon down for the sequel??

If they don't, whedon is going to be able to demand any damn figure he wants for avengers 2. Praise for this is damn near universal.

I missed it, so I appreciate the YouTube clip. I'll watch the movie again to get the full effect of it.

All of them eating a shawarma (at Tony's suggestion earlier) is hilarious. Poking fun at the epic post-credits scenes of the previous movies. You expected something amazing and epic, and you get something amazing and hilarious instead. It's a way for the production team overall to say, "give us a break on this one, guys." Love it.

Shawarmas are delicious, by the way. If you haven't tried it, try it.

Hey guys a quick question, sorry if it has already been addressed. But how is the IMAX 3D of this movie? I personally dont have any issues with 3d, but my wife sometimes gets headaches. She was fine in Avatar but other 3D movies we saw, particular some of the marvels one she had issues.

Is the 3D well done in this movie? Was it an after thought? I just wanted to watch this on the Imax screen but they are only doing it in 3D.

Thanks in advances

Whedon has an option for a sequel. They'll pick it up, obviously.

Excellent!!

Now I just hope we don't have to wait for sequels to their individual movies before we get a sequel to this!

I know IM3 is next up to bat, but I dont want to have to wait for a Thor 2, Capt 2, Hulk 3 before we get Avengers 2.

Thor comes out next year too I think then Cap 2 the year after. Hulk might be getting a new movie and ant man if that ever happens that means probably another 4 years.

Just got back from it. Awesome, awesome movie. Probably tied with Captain America for my favorite of the cinematic universe.

Actually, there's a REALLY easy way to revive him, and the seeds were planted early in the movie.

when agent colson calls stark on his phone, Stark answers the phone as "this is the life model decoy of tony stark" as a joke. LMDs are artificial human duplicates indistinguishable from the real thing that SHIELD and especially nick fury use *constantly*. It's not out of the question for the colson that appears during the film to actually be a LMD, or even the reverse- for an LMD colson to appear in avengers 2 if Fury finds it useful to do so.

Was decent for post-process 3D. One shot with very close foreground action rendered me cross-eyed for a moment. That was unpleasant. The sound in the theater was worth the Imax premium, though.

If we get IM3 and Thor 2 in 2013, and Capt 2 in 2014, I guess the earliest we'll get Avengers 2 is 2015.

Honestly at this point, I would rather see hulk in a supporting role to play off others, since it seems nobody wants to see a movie where he is the sole protagonist.

I know Ruffalo signed on for 6 Marvel movies, so I know we'll be getting a hulk movie, but I just hope it doesn't interfere with the release of Avengers 2.

That sounds about right.

Makes sense. I really liked all the little things Tony said in this movie. Especially the
How does Fury see both these screens when he has only one eye

Collected me thoughts here!
http://www.omega-level.net/2012/05/...here-to-understand-why-youre-going-to-see-it/

Cap and the electric panel is still probably my favorite LOL of the film after the Hulk-related ones.

Just got out of a second show. Just as awesome the second time, and bizarrely, it seemed to go by even more quickly. So fantastic.

I can't wait to see this film IN COLOR on 2D bluray this Christmas. It's not the 3D nature of 3D that pisses me off so much. It's the darkening of the picture, and the shrinking effect it has on the overall image.

The theater here thankfully decided to add 2d showings, so I will be able to see it. I'm debating on going to the screening of Captain America that the library is doing tomorrow (since I haven't seen that), or just going to see The Avengers instead.
