Just watched it a second time. Still indifferent about it. A bunch of shit I like but tons of shit I dislike. Also, 2D 4K>3D. It looks like shit in 3D compared to 2D. A lot of the color is lost.

My dad loved it. My kid loved it and everyone was saying how cool it was that I let my kid wear his Cap mask and shield.

Prometheus trailer scared the shit out of him though.

Thats why this should be the next movie:

I would watch this movie.

Just got back, excellent movie. My favorite part was when two characters kissed, a little kid behind me said, "Ooooo!"
Two kids sitting even further up than me said "eww" at that part as well. The whole house started laughing.

Am I the only one disappointed with the sense of danger at the end? The giant army is supposed to be so deadly, but they really aren't intimidating at all. They get beat quite easily. In fact, that mega quake thing when Loki first appears fucks way more shit up. It wasn't a bad fight at all, as the action was choreographed well, but the stakes didn't live up to Sam Jackson's fear/Loki's threat.

I really hope its not as bad as you describe. I won't get to see it till Monday or maybe next weekend but that is one of the reasons I never liked the LOTR movies that much. Always felt they kept bringing up this amazing threat/army and at the end it just got defeated rather easily.

Imagine Nick Fury talking to Peter after the new Spiderman movie

No need to spoiler that? it has nothing to do with avengers.

Won't happen though. Spider Man, the FF, and Xmen franchises are going to stay separate from this for a while.

Am I the only one who thinks Amazing Spider Man is going to get an avengers bump?

i like to think of myself as pretty cosmopolitan (I've had afghani and moroccan cuisine plenty of times) and I've never even heard of it. i'll look for places next time i head out.

Its along the same lines as Afghani food but less seasoned.

Try it, its awesome!

I live 2 min away from an Arab neighborhood in Queens NYC so I forget how accessible it is to me and how it might be something new to most others.

In what way? The alien forces were clearly superior to anything the Earth had sans Avengers and even then the Avengers had to put up a pretty damn good fight. Had they not closed the portal they would of been overwhelmed or nuked (which still wouldn't of destroyed the device). This is a far better end battle then something like Dark of the Moon where the Autobots barely did jack shit to beat the Decepticons.

1.) What we saw of the chitauri army was clearly just the first wave. The mothership had TONS more troops and giant worm things. They were also after the tesseract which as an infinite power source would have amplified their threat considerably.

2.) The chitauri were told (by loki, i assume) that mankind would pose literally no threat to an invasion. That army was prepared for cops and the US army (which they would have steamrolled) NOT a superhero team.

3.) That being said, the avengers were seriously worn down by the time the portal was closed and would not have lasted another 2 or 3 waves.

4.) The "mega quake thing" was the effect of the (underground, at that time) portal collapsing- the power of the tesseract. The second portal opened in the sky, so we didn't see this effect when it got shut down.
had the chitauri gotten their hands on the tesseract and made it through successfully, who knows what they would have done? Its implied that they're the ones that truly know how to make use of it, and told loki of its potential.

There were a lot of audible gasps in the audience during the
Thanos reveal - seems like a lot of the audience knew what a big deal he was, and how this just got taken to the next level

Watching this movie it makes me realize that DC needs to get their damn act together on this Justice League stuff. As awesome as this movie is, I know a DC one could be just as good.

Roster should include the three, flash, GL and Martian Manhunter (have the plot revolved around him)

As a Marvel guy, I am glad they got there first. Now about video games, Disney needs to go on a spending spree to get some developers.

movie as OK. worth seeing for the action and comedy. way too many "roll eyes" moments cause the writing is garbage. why was loki trying to enrage banner?

Shawarma is like a tasty crispy wrap. Looooove it.

not the ones here in toronto. the wrap is not crispy. and you can get the shawarma on rice also instead of a wrap.

Thought it was awesome, best Marvel movie so far for me. I'll share more impressions later but the one complaint I had was about all the fanboys and girls who were watching. The endless laughter, hootering, and hollering at every line is so fucking annoying. The saddest thing is some of these people were probably in for their second viewing and still acting like they are surprised by every twist or one liner. Most people were fine, just one row in my movie theater in particular, I went with a friend and she actually had to tell people to be quiet. They heeded her warning for about ten minutes and then went back to going crazy at every move.

lol i hate not being mindless like the rest of the audience i wish i could enjoy things like they do but you and me seem much more cynical :P

The director...means EVERYTHING.

Would Michael Bay direct a good Justice League movie?

For JL they would also need to introduce a bunch of these characters.

Superman is already on its way. Batman will have to be rebooted to fit that universe which might not be possible since Nolan is staying on board to produce future Batman movies, or at least Batman 4.

Green Lantern was a bomb. I'd like to see it happen but I like my Batman completely separated :(

If Warner and DC had a half a clue on how to do any of their characters outside of Batman and Superman (sometimes) correct.

People are new to shawrma?

Arab food is awesome people try it!

It's pretty popular here in the Netherlands I believe, but knew it was much less popular over in the US. We spell it differently though (Shoarma) and so I'm bothered every time I see it spelled like that.

Like I said in a few other threads I guarantee they add an extra scene to Superman and go straight into Justice League after that.
DC/WB doesn't have much choice in doing the Marvel route.

If Batman is in JL, I wouldn't want it to be Bale/Nolan Batman. I kinda like that there's this Nolanverse trilogy of Batman that folds over into itself. It wouldn't have to be a Batman we've seen before; you don't have to introduce Batman to anybody, lol.

.

In the helicarrier? Loki's entire purpose in going there (as is made clear after he leaves) is to eliminate or cripple the avengers so there's no resistance to a chitauri invasion.

The plan (had it worked) was to have hawkeye take out the helicarrier/have it crash so SHIELD as an organization is a clusterfuck, enrage banner into an uncontrollable hulk and severely injure/hurt/kill the more powerful members of the avengers like Thor and Iron man. Prior to the helicarrier invasion the avengers were barely working as a unit and didn't trust each other, so all it would take is a little bit of a push to put them over the edge.

remember, Loki knew he couldn't take out Thor, Hulk, and (maybe) Iron man by himself- so they'd have to do it to themselves.

There have been power ups and downs, but Marvel has generally held the two to be roughly equal.

Thor, Hercules, Juggernaut, Gladiator, Thanos, and maybe one or two others that slip my mind don't really HAVE limits to how strong they are and are all drawing on virtually infinite power sources. The only difference between Hulk and these guys is Hulk will not hold back or pull punches if he gets into it with you. (most heroes from superman on down to spiderman have this as a blanket excuse as to why they don't instantly kill anyone weaker than they are.)

Movie thor is a completely different story though, I agree- they're definitely on two totally different strength tiers.

there have indeed been power ups and downs. point is, the most powered up Hulk we've seen

is on a different level than the mightiest Thor has ever been. Thor is not fucking with World War Hulk.

I would just get Bale again but use a Batman Returns style suit.

Iron Man's world kind of suffers now because of Avengers imo.

Loved this movie so much. Saw it on a 4K screen and it was the sharpest looking 2D movie I've ever seen. It's amazing to see such a bright and faithful translation of the comic on screen. The movie even made me like Black Widow, who I thought was a waste of spandex in Iron Man 2.

Have you read the story about the $300 million JL film they were going to shoot in Australia? They were pretty close to shooting when WB shut it down.

I think WB is just totally fucking incompetent, especially after watching GL.

I think marvel has pretty much Worldbreaker Hulk as the strongest there is unless you want to start counting Celestials and Galactus

green lantern had a ~220 mil budget
avengers had a ~220 mil budget

lol.

Was sad they had started on costumes and everything.
I still think GL is better than Spiderman3, both Hulks, and X3.

The film added $30.3 million internationally Friday, bringing its overseas haul to $334.3 million. Adding in its first-day domestic receipts, "The Avengers" has climbed to a worldwide total of $414.8 million.

Movie is making a fortune

Haha, never going to happen, but I honestly could picture that so much since it reminds me of what happens in the Ultimate comics.

Shawarma is like a tasty crispy wrap. Looooove it.

+1 for you two. I eat the chicken shawarma all the damn time.

just watched it - WOAH. so good... i'm glad i didn't watch any previews or trailers.

post credits scene had me HYPED, too. we have iron man 3, captain america 2 and a new avenger on the docket, yes?

Yup, costumes and rehearsals already underway. Armie Hammer as Batman actually sounds pretty awesome. I think there was fallout on tax incentives or something.

I forget who the villain was supposed to be but it was played by Jay Baruchel, so that's kinda weird.

Any villain that isn't Darkseid and a billion boom tubes over Metropolis is a total fucking waste.

i must say, i was very skeptical about mark ruffalo playing hulk, but boy did he steal the show as both banner and hulk!

Yes he did. Just got back from it myself and Damn I loved him as Banner/Hulk. I had my doubts about him before seeing the movie but without a doubt I don't now. I'd actually love to see an entire Hulk movie with him as the character.

Overall without a doubt I think this has been one of the best Marvel Movies yet.

Not true. Thor was mysteriously absent during WWH, and when he came back he had the full power of Odin- a massive power up. If you think any version of hulk is on Odin's level (and that's obliterating galaxies, smashing moons to dust, fighting across all existence simultaneously) you might want to rethink that. All-Father Thor took out the destroyer in one shot. There was also a really cool story with a Thor in the grips of warrior madness beating the hell out of Drax with a power gem and claiming it for himself, which is a really great story. (short version- no one can stop him, so they intentionally drag Thanos into it hoping he's the only one that can put down an enraged Thor. Thanos then goes toe to toe with Odin(!) )

Regardless, Defenders 10 is a good example of the hulk/thor relationship- marvel tends to put them on equal footing. There's also similar instances with Hulk vs. Juggernaut, Thor vs. Hercules, and Red Hulk is currently fighting the juggernaut version of colossus. That tier tends to get kind of hazy and basically comes down to who is having a better day.
