True, but it's relevant to note that it just broke the record, pretty big deal. 8/19 = great movie. This is at least that.

dawwwwwwwwwwwww

loki is adorable
Oh I'm sending that to my wife.

Why did the Hulk punch Thor at the end of their battle?
Motherfucker gave him shit earlier in the film.

Individual movies for the in depth character development, Avengers for them to team up and smash stuff seems like the correct way to go.
I agree.

Wizard of Oz I think

Yes...and damn I'm getting old.

Anyone can explain the "flying monkey" joke that Cap understood? I was like "Huh?" when that came up.

It's part of a running gag that Captain America doesn't understand modern jokes, and they always have to explain it to him; except now that it's reversed, since the flying monkeys are from Wizard of Oz, a recent movie from his era. Most people today don't even remember there being a flying monkey scene in Wizard of Oz.

This kind of blows my mind a bit. I understood the joke having seen the movie as kid but @_@

Loki someone who is redeemed in the comics? Would love to see more of him, and I can't imagine him coming back as a villain again...

Definitely read Journey into Mystery. It's about a young Loki who is resurrected after his death (Asgardians do this from time to time). I don't know if there is a trade paperback yet, but it gives a lot of interesting insights into Loki's character (about how involved he is behind the scenes in just about everything major that happens in the Marvel universe). For all we know Loki put this whole thing together as a way to get the Avengers to form so that they could fight Thanos for him eventually.

Is that a mask or a mutation?

LOL. you were being trolled. That's not ant-man, that's an obscure TV television hero named M.A.N.T.I.S. someone did a recoloring job on.

Ant Man does look similar to that though, and yes he uses a helmet (to..uh..talk to ants)

This is a great movie?

The Thor character is so shitty, I wish they gave him less camera time. Everything else was good. The hulk was the one that really stood out.

Also Captain America needs a power up....

Wizard of Oz, which came out when Cap was still "alive" before the ice incident.

Thanks! I've seen Wizard of Oz but obviously I don't remember much of it since I can't recall any flying monkey in it. I like that Cap looks so proud of it though that he's still smiling even long after other people talking.

Thanos would probably be all CGed up, that's the only think I wouldn't like about him being the main villain.

Saw it again and it was still awesome. This time in 2d. If anyone still hasn't seen it 2d is the way to go. 3d added nothing.

Remember that .gif of Iron Man's armor being entirely CG? Or hell, did you have any complaints in this movie about Hulk?

Thanos won't be the main villain until Avengers 2 at the soonest in three-four years, even later if they do the right thing and save him for Avengers 3. He'll look beastly.

so, quick question from a former comic reader from decades ago. i've not kept up at all with the any of the Marvel Studiio/Disney releases of late, so I'm missing the movie backend buildup leading up to this Avengers movie.

is it safe to say i'll still enjoy it without watching any of the Iron Men, Captain America, Thor, etc. flicks? i've long lost my comic nerdom, but still enjoy these types of movies easily. i've read there's not much exposition, with the vibe leaning towards an Ocean's 11-ish atmosphere with explosions and Scarlett Johansson's ass in tights. i can dig that.

Do you have a general understanding of the Cosmic Cube, Loki, and the Avengers? No?

Then yeah, you'll probably enjoy it even then.
