Thanos? I don't recall him looking red though.

Just to chime in on the whole Coulson debate; both times I saw the movie the theater gasped when he was stabbed and fell very silent when he died shortly after.
Everybody loved Coulson in this movie. He was in every single Marvel movie leading up the Avengers and he was awesome up til his death.
Yup. Coulson's death got one of the biggest reactions in my theater.
Same here, the guys saying Coulson's death carried no weight are crazy. It worked and worked well. As will his eventual return.

Nope. He meant no more to me than Cobie Smulders' awful character.
Awful? Was she really around much to judge either way?

I didn't feel that it carried much weight, but I can't understand it would for others I guess. I didn't actually recognise him from the iron man films (its been a while since I've seen them), and for me he was just kind of the token helpful secondary character who was clearly going to die. It was a little sad, with the cards and stuff, but it wasn't shocking.

He is Thanos, intergalactic genocidal alien superhuman maniac badass.
He was using Loki the whole time as a pawn in order to get his hands on the Cosmic Cube.
This is an interesting point. Thor now has the cube and it will locked away tight in Odin's vault, so what reason could Thanos have for fighting the avengers/invading Earth/whatever he plans to do in the avengers sequel. It was a really cool scene, but I'm not sure if he would work in a sequel if his only motivation was to get the cube.
That's just me though, I want a sequel to introduce Ant-Man if they can't get the movie off the ground and to follow through to him developing Ultron who becomes the villain in A2.
Not his only motivation at all. His motivations as a character are clear and sort of give him carte blanche to attack the Earth in whatever sadistic manner he sees fit, now that his first attempt (involving no effort on his part) failed. This is an interesting point. Thanos' only motivation is courting death.

Yet you felt attached to a CGI furry?Nope. He meant no more to me than Cobie Smulders' awful character.
Huh, is that why he wanted the cube? Serious question, I only know very basic things about the character. (god like, immortal, crazy strong, intelligent, that's pretty much all I know)

He is. Death has been totally macking on Deadpool lately.Yup.
It's quite literal- in the Marvel Universe, certain concepts are personified by immortal rarely-seen characters. Death is embodied as a female Thanos is totally obsessed with (he is friendzoned if you ask me, but whatever, I'm not going to be the one to tell him).

Did anyone catch this dialog between Natasha and Clint?; "This is like Budapest all over again." "You and I remember Budapest very differently."
There's obviously an untold story for both of them.. and maybe even between them.
Yup.

I didn't mind Cobie, she was ok. As long as she doesn't have to play asshole Hill, which I doubt she would be able to pull off, I can tolerate her.
I love that this was hinted at in the dialogue. Something about "courting Death."
No way man! She was totally into him for awhile.
Cause if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it
If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don't be mad once you see that he want it
If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Yep. The line works both ways, as well. If you know nothing about Thanos, he grins because he likes death. If you do know who he is, he grins because he loves Death.
It's a very deliberate line.

Uh-huh yeah plenty of girls have been "into me for a while."No way man! She was totally into him for awhile.
Oh-oh-oh.***Ahem***
I'd be interested to know if that was Whedon's line or Marvels. I know Whedon is well aware of comic lore and he's quite clever enough to do it, but it's so deliberately a shout-out to Thanos' main plot that it seems a directive from up high.
Either way it was awesomely done.
The Cube is a tool to complete his mission, not the mission. His mission is to "court death", and Earth's Mightiest Heroes have just proven they are a worthy goal.
It was just a means to an end, if they go with the major Thanos plot from the comics, the Cube would've been a nice trinket compared to his real prize.
Yup.

No way to know unless someone asks in an interview. I'm just wondering if they'll go all out and have Death appear, or if the line is an Easter Egg. A wink to the fans.
Lindsay Lohan should play Death.
Lindsay Lohan should play Death.
Lindsay Lohan should play Death.
Lindsay Lohan should play Death.
This is kids movie man, are you craze?Lindsay Lohan should play Death.
I actually agree 100%- either have her appear just as an attractive, normal-looking young woman, briefly, or never even show her at all despite Thanos talking to her throughout his screen time, and look like (more of) a lunatic to the people in the audience who don't know his deal.Ah, cool. Thanks chaps. well that's something to look forward to in the inevitable sequel. I quite like the idea of death being a character, but maybe not show her though...can't see a hooded female skeleton translating well.
