He's annoying in the whole film.

Ed Furlong is the worst part of T2. He was godawful.

kids/teens are annoying in real life. Kids/teens in are annoying in movies. Gaf does not like kids/teens and are not willing to admit that they used to be annoying little turds.

Anyway, T1 was a better movie, but not a better action movie.

Nope.

He doesn't act like a real kid in T2. He acts like an experienced child actor who hasn't gained any sort of understanding of nuance. He shouts his lines the whole fucking movie.

T2 still has incredible production value. If you pause it in HD and get close to your TV it looks sorta old but from where you're sitting when it's going it looks great.

IMO yes, or at least damn near the top. I also feel that people should stop comparing Terminator 1 and 2. The first one is one of the best suspenseful thrillers ever, where as 2 is the best action movie ever. They just don't feel all that similar to me.

It's similar to the difference between Alien and Aliens.

It sure had it all.

I think I like True Lies better. I can't imagine True Lies being a better movie than T2...but man I really loved True Lies.

T2 waxes philsophical too frequently for it to be the movie I always come back to. I dislike the awful interchanges between Sarah/John, I hate John's one liners and the otherwise perfect epilogue at the end of T2 has lost ALL of its impact in the wake of every sequel that followed. I like action with lots of humor mixed in it, so I'm all about Die Hard 1/2, Commando, Big Trouble In Little China when I fish into the collections I swapped from VHS to DVD.

T2 was pretty close to perfection. It had a lot of heart and cool futuristic robot mayhem going on. And who didn't want to cry with the thumbs up?

Heat was sooo boring. Only movie I've seen more boring was Once Upon a Time in the West

This post hurts my brain considering both would probably be in my top 10 movies of all time.

Oh and I don't really consider Heat or any Mann film an action movie so I wouldn't really discuss those.

Die Hard, Predator, Aliens, Lethal Weapon, Robocop, Hard Boiled/The Killer. These are the all time great action films.

Yes.

It is definitely the best action movie all time. Though it isn't the best movie with action in it - which is where I think people are getting confused..

Here is the ranking. Dispute it if you must, but know only that you are disputing the truth.

1. T2
2. Predator
3. Die Hard

Agreed. I haven't seen Die Hard but no way is Predator better than T2. Other movies mentioned such as The Matrix, Alien, and Raiders aren't even really Action films.

Didnt we just have a terminator vs terminator 2 vs terminator 3 vs terminator salvation thread?

Anyways, yes OP. Terminator 2 is the greatest action movie of all time. Hands down. That movie will always hold an extremely special place in my heart. I'm pretty much obsessed with it.
Music, character development, special effects (DOESNT RELY ON CG! (RIP movies like this) ), setting, bad-assery, it's got it all.

RIP Stan Winston

This discussion would be more interesting if we narrowed the scope of 'greatest' to 'greatest of the late 80s/early 90s' since production values and budgets have skyrocketed. I hate seeing a 1991 film get compared to a 2005 film.

A better question is who are the best action directors of all time? And I mean balls to the wall action.

1. James Cameron
2. John McTiernan
3. The Wachowskis

My biased opinion says Casino Royale, while maybe not *the* best, is in the conversation.
