It would need to be 4CC to be even close to playable because Levitation sure isn't.

In fact you could think of it as the anthem effect finally making Levitation playable.

Perhaps +1/+0?

STOP SHUFFLING YOUR HAND LIKE SOME KIND OF NEUROTIC OCD GUY.

"Draw a card"
*shuffle shuffle shuffle*
"Declare attackers"
*shuffle shuffle shuffle*

He should perfect a way to shuffle one handed so he can shuffle his hand constantly the entire game.

Dat APM.

Well, it seems Gisela won't come in Time so this is my final deck build for Frites to play tonight and then I just have to build the sideboard.

Any recommendations on my Frites deck? I want to add Gisela but she won't come until tomorrow so I'm play testing with this for the time being. I'll remove a Griselbrand and something else to add two of her. Thinking of switching Vexing Devil for Timely Reinforcement maybe also.

Creatures
3x Elesh Norn
4x Griselbrand
1x Sun Titan

Spells
4x faithless looting
4x lingering souls
2x Day of Judgement
2x Whipflare
2x Go for the Throat
4x Unburial Rites
2x Dangerous Wager

Artifacts
4x Ratchet Bomb

Planeswalkers
2x Liliana
1x Tibalt

Land (24)
4x Evolving Wild
3x Clifftop Retreat
3x Dragonskull Summit
4x Blackcleave Cliffs
3x Isolated Chapel
3x Mountain
2x Plains
2x Swamp

One of the things I really like about Magic (and which is probably unique to card games) are the fun silly names people think up for decks, like this "Raisin' Brand" deck.

Do they give out other prizes or anything? Every game day I've ever gone to has done it for free.

Well, I went to the DotP event thingy for celebrating Magic last year and they did drafts and people got like 2-3 boosters from it as it was that booster draft gametype. They charged for the lands but they didn't charge for the boosters.

That's not a game day though. Gameday is done for set releases and it's just a standard tournament.

I guess I'll check with the card shop but last time I went I feel I got a little cheated by the "pros" there abusing my disability to their advantage. *sigh*

That really blows =/

I think my place has a small entry fee of some sort, but it's going towards a prize pool.

Ya, see some do this but all the ones by me at least just give out the promos so no fee you just show up and play in the tournament with top 8 getting the better promo and everyone gets the normal promo.

I'd probably go if it was free but I never use the promo cards or retail cards after playing since I'm mostly digital. Damn it. :/

Our shop usually does $5 entry, which all goes into the prize pool.
(Unless they do draft like our last two game days then of course you pay for packs)

Drives me insane when people do that.
Even at our drafts people have to shuffle the stack before handing it to the next person.
"I saw some important guy do it once so it is what you do right?"

Heh, exactly. If it was truly just a nervous tick, it would manifest in other ways, too. It's follow te leader, and people who are "TOTALLY IN YOUR HEAD." To which I reply, if you're so mentally fragile that shuffling cards gets to you...you shouldn't leave the house with shoelaces. You might hang yourself if somebody bumps into you on the street or something

They shuffle the stack? :lol What a bunch of cocks. I hate that for the sole reason it makes the draft go slower because it's harder to separate. We yell at kids who do it so no one does it anymore.

Does anyone else have the people who have their mana above the rest of their cards like creatures and enchantments? I think I hate that the most because it feels like they're trying to hide something and makes it harder to take a quick glance at the board, especially with miracle. Lessens visibility immensely and makes me so mad. They also started doing it after seeing some pros do it.

Haha, it doesn't bother me that much but it is annoying especially when you're trying to think. It would be like making loud noises when it's not your turn, some people are loud about it is where it gets annoying after a while.

You're required to do that at a competitive level. It's to stop people from sending signals by organizing the pack.

Anyone have any suggestions for my Frites sideboard? Right now I have:

4x Mental Misstep
1x Day of Judgement
2x Oblivion Ring
2x Revoke Existence
2x Celestial Purge

I still have two spots open and not sure what I would want to add. Maybe another whip flare and celestial purge?

Yeah I was going to say, I have a friend who sometimes will turn a card upside down to indicate which color he is playing if he is seated next to one of us. The idea being if we avoid his color he will avoid ours in return.

I don't mind moderate hand shuffling as most of the time it just makes them look like they have ADHD. I think it's funny that most of the kids are just doing it because they think it's what the "pros" do. Excessive hand shuffling though is obnoxious as fuck. It's clearly done to be a distraction and to throw the opponent off their game, which makes me surprised that it isn't frowned upon by judges. If someone was sitting there making animal noises repeatedly like meows or bird chirps for 30 minutes straight non stop, I'd think a judge would come over and tell him to knock it off. But maybe there aren't any rules about disruptive behavior of that nature.

Far more annoying to me though is when players excessively shuffle my deck in an meaningless event. I was at a 8 person draft at some shithole comic shop we weren't even sure was sanctioned. With my first opponent, after placing my deck in front of him, he would shuffle my deck, then pile shuffle it, then shuffle some more, pile shuffle again, cut it, shuffle some more, and then pile shuffle a third time before giving it one last shuffle. He did this every single fucking time. I ended up stomping him too so the goddamn shuffling took longer than the matches. And just to rub it in like a dick, I never once cut his deck or shuffled it.

I understand mixing it up for randomizing.
I am talking full on, stop everything and make people wait "flip flip flip" for a good two or three minutes.
It is less than 14 cards, it does not require that much work.

This drives me nuts. Pro player PVDR does it and now a bunch of lemmings follow suit. People who do this can fuck right the hell off.

Ratchet Bomb for tokens?

I remember I went to a legacy tourney right when I got back in, and I mean JUST got back in.
I was playing some cheap crazy elf action because it is what I had, green has always been my bread and butter and again it was all I had to work with. Whole deck could not have cost more than maybe $40.
Before the matches started I am sitting with some people I knew and we are bsing around and there is this smug assed fleshbag and his friends just putting everyone down, and he had a couple of lackey idiots with him. He was apparently a judge in the area and felt entitled or something.
So then he starts ragging on some of the decks people were playing because of course he was playing some storm mess full of duals and promos. Money all around.
First game I rolled him and he was sooo salty about it and just talking shit left and right about how it would never happen again blah blah stupid deck blah blah.
He shuffle cut my deck and I shuffled his.
Gave it the deepest shuffle that I could, full bridge with my eyes locked on him and he was sooo pissed.
So we are going through the game and I ended up shuffling it two more times and did the same thing each time and he went pale. Totally threw him off and he misplayed when he could have locked me up on turn six.
Never heard so much raging and bitching afterward.

(I think I went 3 and 3 for the day, but it was fun and got the feeling back)

It depends on the game for me, I guess. I don't really think about it. Sometimes my lands are above my cards, sometimes below, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left... I don't know, it's just not that important to me.

People still do this? Last time i played at a local place was when Urzas Legacy was out (10+ years ago?) and that always annoyed the piss out of me.

I am excited to make my return to FNM in a couple of hours and hope i don't get too hooked back into MTG but i have been looking for a new hobby and i always loved playing MTG and MTGO was fun when i played it on and off for years but i am what some call a social butterfly i just love being around people and meeting people and being there live and holding the cards but if they do that excessive hand shuffling that shit will get old QUICK. I'll have to snag me some sleeves, dice and maybe a box or 2 while i am there.

I keep thinking about going to FNM but I've had something going on the past three weeks. And the next few weeks aren't much better since I am on call for work this week and moving next week.

Maybe I'll just wait for Game Day.
