I got a grammar question too. Which one of these sentences is correct? Or are they both correct?

Don't bring food in the library.
Don't bring food into the library.

"Into" sounds correct to me but is "in" correct as well? The use of "in" makes it sound like the person is already inside of the library, therefore he can't bring in anything, that why it sounds incorrect to me. But can anyone give me a proper grammatical justification for why it is right or wrong?

'Into' in British English. 'In' is incorrect. I am never sure in American English. Words like 'gotten' confuse leave me unsure of the overlap :)

RELAYER: Infinitive, perhaps? I have no formal education in this, but that would be my call. Not that sentences really have a tense. The tense is in the verb (start) and the words that it affects, such as if you threw a 'working' on the end. You can treat the 'might as well' as an auxiliary verb, I think, so that fits.

I have a grammar question.

How do you determine what tense a sentence is in when there is a modal verb.

For example, the following sentence -

"Oh well, I might as well get started."

In what tense is this sentence?

I know that "might" is the past-tense form of the verb "may", but I'm not sure if that applies in this instance.
It's in the present, but that might be a confusing example because "might as well"/"may as well" is an idiom. Past: "I might as well have gotten started." Future would look something like the present tense, with future meaning or context (since you can't use "might" with "will"). "I might as well get started tomorrow."

I remember a pic that showed different images when opened in a browser and when opened in word. Anyone know where to find a pic like that?

On a daily forecast when you see the "High" and "Low" numbers are the "Low" numbers regarding the morning or the evening? I've never been able to tell.

05/09/2012

High: 79

Low: 49

Is the temp going down to 49 tonight or was it this morning that it was supposed to be 49 as a low?

alright guys here's a question about using my hdtv as a display for my computer. i just upgraded to a sweet new graphics card and wanted to connect my computer to my plasma. i connected the two devices with an hdmi cable, and my computer is detecting it, but the tv is completely black. can anyone tell me what's wrong? i've been fiddling with settings on my computer for the past hour and i'm about to call it quits.

It just means the lowest temperature at any point in the day. it just means the temperature will be between [49 and 79]

My stupid question:

My friend is currently in germany and wants to improve his language and what's the better way then reading - anyone knows good german gaming sites?
Much appreciated. :)

So, when people use the phrase 'been sober for X days/months/years', do they mean 100% no drinks/drugs at all?

Does that mean I can't call myself sober if I drink once or twice a week?

I'm just confused by the terminology. I use the term sober to describe my current state. As in, I drank on Friday, got trashed, and am at this instant, sober. In fact, I've been sober (as in, not under the influence) since Saturday morning.

Sounds like in the first meaning, the term has been reappropriated to refer to a lifestyle instead of a state of intoxication.

Or....do they actually mean that when they weren't 'sober', they were intoxicated to some degree like, every waking minute of every day?

I'm fixing to pick up some posters from etsy that I'd like to get 'framed' and by framed I just mean that they're not completely exposed to the elements. What's the cheapest way of doing that? I'd be okay with just getting something I could slide them into that could hang on the wall.

Conversation. Tell him to talk to people. He'll be right.

I also have a number of bookmarks on my notebook. I'll post them when I get home tonight.

I remember being a lurker here and there was this really funny comic that I can't find. It was about this anime guy sitting across some anime girl in a train. They're both conflicted on revealing their feelings for each other. At the end there's a twist where this incident was a dream fabricated by some fat guy and he says"That's totally why I don't have a girlfriend". Does anybody have the full version?

Is there a electronics (circuits, math, etc) homework help thread here like the math/chemistry help threads? If there is no thread where should I ask instead?

Ok, for my bday yesterday I got a 25 dollar iTunes gift card. I like most modern rock, some modern mainstream rap, old classical, some pop. With that said I'm kinda looking for classical but I am up for any reccomendations. As far as classical goes I have on stipulation. I'm not really fan of violin in classical unless it's kind of hidden and is not the main instrument. Also, as far as classical I'm wanting more loud classical where it feels like waves crashing when your listening. Anyways, gaf can your reccomned me some music based on what I'm asking for?

Is something bannable when you're not even realizing you're crossing the line?

*Is now extremely curious what post has been removed and keeps looking at own inbox*

Not exactly what you asked for, but maybe you could try some movie scores?

The Dark Knight is one of my favorites, though it uses a lot of strings as central instruments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbcVAtmQbMk

Recently, a lot of YT videos have their sound distorted for me. It's not all videos, only some. One video will be crystal clear, but the next will be all sorts of distorted. As if my speakers can't handle the level of sound. It's always the same videos. This is a recent issue. Videos that were crystal clear a month ago no longer are.

Any one know what the issue is and how I can fix it? It's beyond obnoxious.

I watched a documentary a few years back about marketing. It involved a marketing scheme developed in the 1920's. They paid women to smoke cigarettes at large social events and photographed them. This led to more women smoking, which led to bigger profits for tobacco companies. What documentary was this?

May have been this one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Century_of_the_Self

Edward Bernays got women in 1920's to light up Lucky Strike cigarettes at a women's right parade to use them as Torches of Freedom, fighting against the taboo of women smoking in public.

They also had adverts using Amelia Earheart

If thats not the right documentary then the other information should help you track it down =]
