I'm gonna be away from my home computer for awhile but I'm gonna have my iPad with me. How can I go about getting my podcasts (and their various updates) without itunes?

You should be able to use the iTunes app on the iPad, no? That's how I watched Diggnation and TWiT for about a year.. I just set up my Google Reader to be an RSS feed for podcasts so I could just tap the link from there and it would swap me over to iTunes and let me download straight to the Pad.

What's the name of this guys face? Like the 'okay' guy is okay meme, rage face, etc.

Can someone tell me what d is?

Or better, just explain everything to the left of the equals sign. It's 5 in the morning here. I can't even work the microwave :(

It's a derivative. Have you studied any calculus?

If so, it's basically just different notation for Y'.

Nope, well not calculus, I'm in the UK so I think that's called algebra.

I'm doing a course in Digital Forensics so I'm not really too clued up on my maths right now.

I will search what a derivative is..thanks mate

Gaf,

I woke up at 4 pm yesterday, and have not gone to sleep since. Lately my sleep schedule has been all fucked up, and I am so sick of it. If I stay up today, and restart by going to bed earlier tonight, am I going to have any adverse health effects?

I have only done this one other time. My dad told me I am going to have a heart attack.

No. No it won't.

Sleep deprivation might be a tiny toll on your heart, but it's not your heart that gives in if you go 14 days without sleep - it's your brain. And also, your brain won't suffer anything from being up 30 hours. You'll feel shitty, but that's about it. Being outside and doing stuff is the best way to stay awake. Sleep is sort of like breathing. You can't ever hold your breath by yourself so long that you can damage anything. You can't ever go without sleep so long that you won't hurt yourself, by yourself. If you have severe cases of angst or otherwise insomnia, it's a different story, but that would be analogous with someone chocking you.

lol Doing that on a rare frequency is hardly an issue.

Hey, thanks Gaf.

My dad thinks its funny to tell me I am going to die.

Nah, your body is pretty sturdy. Unless you're actively pushing it too stay awake for long stretches of time a lot (say skip a night or two every week) another couple of hours shouldn't hurt. Just go to bed at your normal time everyday and it should eventually sort itself out eventually. But if your sleep schedules keeps staying fucked up then go see a doctor and see if sleeping pills are an option.

edit slowpoking here.

Why does NeoGAF highlight the 'save' option everytime I want to login? Cause I don't want that and have been manually unclicking it ever since.

Any way not to have that from now on?

So, I want to buy an indie game that's only available via Steam. But I don't have or want Steam.

Is it possible to install Steam, buy the game, then uninstall Steam? Or will that disable the game?

You need Steam to play games purchased with Steam. You can of course crack stuff. But that might or might not break the game.

Why do you want to not have Steam anyway?

Honestly? No idea. I have an aversion to these sorts of downloadable store thingies, and I don't really know where it comes from.

Now the question is, is my desire to play the game greater than my aversion to Steam? Hmm.

Why did I just sit through Sleeping Beauty with Emily Browning? Why did I lie to myself and think it was going to get better?

Why do I feel bad for her career?

I know there's a detail I'm missing. Is a four year bachelor degree an extra 4 yours worth of classes or is it two years plus the two years from the associates?

Beware! That's how they suck you in! It takes far less convincing to get games 2-300 once everything is set up.

Four total.

If I start up my own company, and am the only employee... Is there a problem with not allocating myself a salary, but instead pay through dividends? In the UK that is.

Thanks

This is not a stupid question, this is something you should ask people who actually know about this stuff. You don't want to get it wrong.

My guess would be that, assuming dividends result in a lower tax burden for you, you would probably be required to pay yourself some kind of salary. But that's only a guess.

Calculus & Algebra are different things, although whomever is expecting you to be able to answer the question should have explained the method to you.

Yeah, I've been told that for my annual personal income, dividends would reduce overall tax. I suppose minimum wage + dividends would yield the best result.

Shall look in this!

Can't think of his name.

Really dorky white dude (character I guess) who interviews famous people and brings them gifts and generally blows their minds with how rare the stuff is.

Narward or something.

Why do people cover their license plate when posting pics of their cars?

Don't people see your license every day when you drive?

Probably because while your average pedestrian isn't going to note down your license plate as you drive by, the internet (and especially large forums like NeoGAF) are full of wannebe-detectives who tend to dig up private information based on just your plates and make it public for the lulz. For examples, see Anonymous.
