Nah, in my case the game has been constantly shitting on me. The game runs fairly smooth but there's moments of incredible lag and i'm not sure if it's Blizzard's fault or my laptops.

Really goddamn annoying, though :(
 
I don't think the game saved my progress at all, I played earlier leveled up my class to 10, but now I can't even find my character class.
 
Hearing people waiting to get into Diablo 3 makes me think of those times in WoW when I would wait forever to get a group together to do a dungeon. Then, like a server disconnect, someone would suddenly leave and leave us to die. Not what I expected or wanted from my Diablo 3 launch experience.
 
I am really considering buying Diablo 3 after watching the GB live stream.

Any advice for people who have never played a Diablo game? Haven't played many action rpgs, basically just Oblivion.

I love Sacrifice but I don't like spending a skill slot on zombie dogs. I feel like I'm basically spending 1/3rd of my slots on one bomb with a 60-sec cooldown. Spirit Walk is a fantastic panic ability, easily my favorite out of any class in the game thus far. Makes for a very active, fun play style.

Tip: Don't be tempted to drop poison dart, the early game really drags without it. It can get pretty crazy with splinters. Level 20 and it's still my left-clicker (though I am now experimenting with the slow dart over splinters).

Sweet, good to know. Is Sacrifice basically the Corpse Explosion equivalent this time around, or is that spell still around?

I played D2 at a friends house time to time when we were teens. Got up to level 20..which is nothing.

D3...really user friendly. A bit too casual, but it's ok on my end.

Luckily someone leaving in D3 isn't going to screw you over like it does in a WOW dungeon.
 
I still remember the cluster fucks that were one time world events in WoW. It generally went something like this: enter zone where event was occurring, get immediately booted to login screen, spend the next 2-3 hours alternating between trying to login and kill a mob or two in the few moments the lag fest cleared up long enough to play. Good times.

Its pretty easy to get into. Everything is set before you and the game tells you the stuff you need to know. Maybe start with Barbarian, since it will give you a better chance of staying alive on your first run.
 
So I decided to go with the demon hunter for my first guy. thing is I have no knowledge about what kind of builds there are. I would like to use a bow, that I know but Im not sure about what are the best skills to use for a bow oriented player. I would like to look at my character and read the skills but I cant get on. anyone have any advice for me?
 
Anyone else having trouble with the USB stick that came with the CE? For whatever reason mine isn't readable in all of my USB ports (even though I have other USB sticks that read just fine in those ports). It works in 2 of my top usb ports but not my front one that I use all of the time for USB drives (and I just plugged in a different usb stick and it works fine in that port).

At lower levels there is no real build. Just pick and choose the skills you like and see how you get on.

You don't need the usb stick, just put the keys in your battle account and download the installers.
 
Are there any wizard impressions up? I wonder if they'll be similar to the Sorc from D2 in that they are a little more difficult to be effective with until they're stacked with gear

Forget all that D2 build stuff, the game is designed in a way that throws the concept of "builds" out the window. Your character is supposed to develop in a way that fits your playstyle, not in a way that fits a list on a spreadsheet.

Or so they tell me. I'm unable to play.

Hrmm...more CQC abilities and some big AOE stuff also. As well as the mix of ranged spells etc.

I haven't read any wizard impressions in this thread so far, which is kinda surprising. I guess it's not that popular of a class

As soon as it opened up I spent the 2K on training, then spent 1K or so on a piece of armor I can't even wear yet, then another couple hundred on a better brace.

Enjoying the demon hunter so far.

Diablo-related pc question: I have a pretty good pc but the game kinda runs like shit. As in 60fps but keeps hitching all the time. My computer is full of gunk and I was wondering if there's some decent software that could take care of that stuff for me.

I see mob, I go to throw spiders, WD goes though motions but nothing happens, then the screen shows spiders, dogs, and a templar fighting monsters, then I'm dead -.- It's super frustrating
 
OK, approximately five hours of Demon Hunter and a little bit of Wizard played.

Something that I noticed: there are journals littered everywhere. I mean everywhere. And if you miss something, you have lost it forever.

Other than that - I miss the character pane from the old games. The wall of stats next to the inventory view does not suit me.

So is there any particular reason why all characters on one b.net account share the same gold/stash/blacksmith skill level etc?
How can I start a character fresh? It's stupid.
