Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

Diablo 2 was hacked to death because everything ran client side. It was easy. There was little Blizzard could do due to the architecture of the game.
Right, so if you know this, why are you claiming that the removal of single-player will have any sort of influence on the state of hacks in the game?

EDIT: Actually, that's not even accurate; it's not relevant to the proliferation of bots or duping, which are the two most significant hacks on battle.net.

The checkpoint system is a little weird. Whenever I had found decent loot I thought I had to keep playing to the next checkpoint to save these items. But I just noticed if you leave the game and come back you keep all the items but just spawn back at the last checkpoint you were at.

I guess this saves me a lot of hassle in the future.

I'm 100% some world first guys abused the checkpoint system. Let's see you are in the desert, at a checkpoint and have to find the next area. Just keep reloging until you see a yelloe arrow next to you

Do the items in the "completed" section of the Auction House every go away? I made a mistake in listing something and had to cancel, so now it shows as canceled. Just wondering if it'll go away or if it's permanent.

Because they're not shipping the server side code with consumer clients, people can't disassemble it in an afternoon?

I had to click on the auction to reclaim my gold. Maybe it's the same way for cancels.

This thread is frustrating because it moves so fast that questions are barely answered. Is there any character guide out there? I know that Blizz made it noob proof but I still would like to read about the best way to build a char.

If you guys haven't yet I strongly recommend forcing Quality (or higher) AO if you're able to. Game looks vastly better - and moodier - with it on.

If you use Inspector there is already a Compatibility bit set for it in the profile.

You know what else is stupid? Asshat teammates running ahead so you can't see all the story bits.

...maybe I'll just play solo for a bit.
Thats why i'll first finish the game solo and then go co-op.

In Act 2 myself. Had to stop because I'm getting tired, but mainly because the game is sort of crashing too often now. I think partially due to my laptop overheating. The laptop will shutdown for a second, and I can wake it up, but it puts itself at the lock screen. This has lead to more than one death, including my first one. Didn't die at all in Act 1.

are the achievements still broken? and how do i reset my followers skills?

edit: ok i found it. right click on the portrait -> retrain (works only in town)

I'm having so much fun holding back from playing this too fast.

Its like when you hold back or pull out to prolong sex.

If I force quality instead of performance via the driver the performance is bad, can't hold 60FPS that way (560TI).

Good morning GAF! Yesterday was a crazy day, huh?
Wow i was surprised when i was watching a video and i heard yoshi chan's name.
Oh hey look, another guy who thinks I rushed the game and didn't enjoy it - when the real case is that I've enjoyed this game probably more than 99.85% of the rest of the world.

Excuse my DAoC-slang ;) I mean the little bars. 1/10th of a level.

Thats quite an amazing way to farm scraps and exp for my DH who can vault ~15 time with a 30% speed boost each time.

I like Smoke Screen + Displacement with Tactical Advantage as a passive.

Gotta go fast.

I think that may get you more distance/speed than Vault, and it has the advantage of control, whereas Vault you're stuck in a linear path.

Aw, too bad your summons don't stay up when you replace the spell in the action bar. :P

I get 50+ FPS with Quality with a 460; trade-off is worth it for me for the boost in visuals, and it stays smooth enough. I was using Performance before but Quality looks noticeably better to me.

I wasn't able to smoothly use Quality in the beta but the retail version runs much better.

For lvling I use both. Infight Smoke Screen is indeed the better skill. But you get somewhere faster with Vault plus the rune that reduces Vault to 4 discipline = 8 Vaults, 16 with Prep.

I enjoyed the game so much.... and i beat it in +-15h.

Read the dialogs, did the sidequests, explored all maps...

Dont know why people think we rush the game..

Nah, 60FPS over everything.

I don't think it's terribly hard to see why Blizzard developed the game the way they did. Is there going to be duping? I don't know, probably. Will it be worth losing your battle.net account over? Probably not.

All I can see are significant steps to create a fair playing field for everyone in the 10 or so years people may want to play this. It might be inconvenient for some people initially, but long term it is probably worth it.

Like everyone else I had my share of bullshit with the EU launch not being playable for an hour and a half, but after that I've had a great experience. I think it's better that the game is a single experience rather than split single/online. It's easier to play with friends, it's easier to sell that rare item you found, it's cohesive.

Could have Blizz split it single/online like D2? Yeah, but they didn't.

Morning! Lets go conquer Nightmare :3

Yeah, for competitive games or games that demand some form of player reaction, which doesn't particularly describe Diablo. Otherwise finding a nice balance between visuals and performance is key. The ability to customize in that fashion is part of the beauty of PC gaming. 50 FPS with Quality AO is good.

That's exactly what I have a problem with. The instability over the past 24 hours is a completely independent mistake.

Can you not appreciate that perhaps in 5 years the Diablo 3 economy is still functional?

If the servers stabilise over the next 24 hours and are relatively problem free from then on, are you still going to be upset? I mean you knew about this going in right?

The difference in the game after the beta content is pretty amazing, and after playing the Torchlight 2 Beta I agree with so many of the design changes.

Guys,

How randomised are the areas in the game? Similar to the last game? Also are there large open areas? Must admit I've only got upto saving Cain so far but it seemed quite..linear but i'm assuming thats because its the beginning area.

Beautiful Beautiful game.

Good morning.

There has been maintenance last night (EU). Any update on the Achievements problem?

I logged in this morning and some achievements started popping up. And I could achive a few new achievements. I have to kill the end boss of the beta again since I killed it a few times yet I don't have the cheevo.

Much, much, much less randomized than Diablo 2. In fact, I don't even think it is really randomized at all.

You playing the beta content..

Not much random in there.

But in every time you start a game, all zones/side quests/mobs are random.

My god inferno is INSANE!

Edit: awesome play, this guy got skill.

It's very hand-holdy until the first proper boss. I think only the crypts in the graveyard and the lower levels of the cathedral are randomized properly.

I thought this would be the case. Cant wait to get stuck in!

The MOnk is awesome, love the way he moves, its like quick flashes!
