Wish they would have made Gems a different colour than white, wonder how many I've missed just assuming they were trash.
I think it's really due to a combination of HOW they designed the achievements and interface within the game, and the fact there's a lot of audience over-lap between WoW and Diablo 3.

just beat Act I NM. L39, 6.5k HP/1k DPS. game owns but I'm super bummed about my achievements going missing.
Just watched Method complete Act 2 (as I am stuck at work), and that was fun.
But what really annoyed me was the amount of people in chat proclaiming the game to be easy because of this. Apparently one group of hardcore players doing something directly impacts your own progression. Who'd have known?
Got up early and servers are down! GAH!
The blacksmither is telling me I can't just pay money to upgrade it anymore. He wants some documents or whatnot. Where do I get these?

Someone in this thread yesterday was saying they started seeing them drop once they started Nightmare. The blacksmither is telling me I can't just pay money to upgrade it anymore. He wants some documents or whatnot. Where do I get these?

Man, looting the AH is so tempting but it seems like it would trivialize loot drops. :<
I think I'll just save the AH for Nightmare when better gear actually becomes useful.

So guys... after some initial thought and use of the auction house, I have some concerns about the way items are handled in D3 and hope some smart people can allay my fears!
Obviously they've opted to not use the "Bind on Equip/Pickup" restrictions that apply to games like WoW, which I thought was pretty cool at first. However, after looking at the AH yesterday for legendary items, I was quite shocked at the sheer quantity already available.
Now I know that it is launch week and they are low level items, but if there is nothing to provide attrition to items in D3, is it not likely that we end up with a completely saturated market for all level items at some point down the line?
This has me worrying that the real money AH (or traditional for that matter) will eventually be flooded and consequently their use and appeal diminished.
Items increasing cumulatively, coupled with their perpetual tradability, will surely make everything a bit 'common', no? Tell me I've missed something guys!
A group from Method cleared Act 2 on Inferno, but knowing their history in WoW, i'm not surprised. So is there a group already making a mockery of the devs on Inferno?
So here it is, 9PM my time (Japan), I got kicked out of the Asia server, so I decided to make a Monk on the USA Server. I just got kicked...8am Eastern, 5am Pacific...on a Thursday. W...T...F....
Did they seriously not have the server capacity to handle 8am on a weekday gameplay?
So is there a group already making a mockery of the devs on Inferno?
You can play with skill and change them anytime you want. But on inferno, sticking with one build is better because of magic find factor that is rising - change it and its back to zero.
You'll loose you hardcore character. He is sixfeet deep.
But you can die infinetely on every difficulty.
Thing that matter is hardcore - die and permadead.
Works the same way as regular skills do.
Down for maintenance right as I want to play before work.
I need my craaaaack.

This is off-topic but not thread worthy I guess ...
I have never played Diablo or any other similar PC game, ever. Until recently I did not even have any interest in it, but after reading a lot about the series and watching tons of Diablo III streams, I think I would really like these games in single player (I always thought they were mostly Multiplayer Online or PvP at least, what an ignorant).
As I never play games on PC and I only have a non-gaming laptop, Diablo III is not an option at the moment. I am thinking about starting with Diablo II + expansion. I see I can buy those games in DVD and I guess my 2 year-old laptop will run it perfectly. I would play off-line single player only.
Does this sound as a good idea? anything I should know before inmersing myself in this madness?
Wait, are they really down for 12 hours?

You'll find it doesn't trivialize loot drops as it makes it feel more like "OK, I got this awesome weapon, now let me power through some content to try to find one that drops that's better!"
That's the mentality you should have.
I've sold more items this way than regular (normal) items. People are going to push through normal on their own without spending the money.
I honestly think the real sellers will be past Nightmare.
An Open Letter To Publishers
Dear Publishers,
You may be looking at D3's online-only DRM and thinking to yourself "This is fantastic, we need to implement this in our game as well." I'm penning this letter to let you know that unless your game is insanely good that is not a wise choice.
Blizzard has virtually unlimited resources at their disposal, and they can barely make it work. The only saving grace for them is that they make games so good that we are willing to put up with this horseshit. Unless you can look at your game and honestly say "Yes, my game is as good as Diablo III" then you had best rethink any ideas you may have about online-only DRM.
I know, "We won't have to worry about pirates blah blah blah." You also won't have to worry about anyone buying your game, because D3 is the game that is teaching us all what it's like to block off some time to play only to find that the servers are down and you can't play your single-player experience even though your internet connection is just fine.
I know some of you are going to try it anyway. I'll be here to say "I told you so."
Sincerely,
Risible
