Level 43, just beat act 2 nightmare. Monk kicks all kinds of ass but its time to go pass out now.

Hopefully there won't be any server issues when I wake up.

Wish they would have made Gems a different colour than white, wonder how many I've missed just assuming they were trash.

the fuck? They're so tiny you always know what they are.

Level 27 Melee Demon Hunter, Ashodin

You won't be seeing his sword in the next picture. I bought this fucking amazing rare sword off the AH for pennies. Someone put it up for too low. It has like +50 all stats, AND A SOCKET. Red GEM GOOOOOOOOO

Just watched Method complete Act 2 (as I am stuck at work), and that was fun.

But what really annoyed me was the amount of people in chat proclaiming the game to be easy because of this. Apparently one group of hardcore players doing something directly impacts your own progression. Who'd have known?

Its the same thing in WoW really. Find any guy in a thread mouthing off about how easy raiding is these days, then ask him to link you his character. Likely hasn't completed much of ANYTHING on heroic 25. I have never understood that. It used to irk me, but Im just sort of numb to it now.

Got up early and servers are down! GAH!

Damn yall, they announced this downtime yesterday, lol.

The blacksmither is telling me I can't just pay money to upgrade it anymore. He wants some documents or whatnot. Where do I get these?

I didnt see a single one drop until I started nightmare. They drop like candy here. So if you havent already hurry and finish Act4 normal :D

Aw shit, I was just gonna go put some stuff on the AH.

Oh well. Time to sleep. I got two characters through normal today. Tomorrow I bro-op some more.

I play with one group of friends from like 8PM-1AM, and my friend in Japan from 2-7AM. So I made one character for each to level alongside them.

Before you ask, I work during the days, and have no classes for summer.

Beat the game on Normal with 2 friends, I can't wait to start all over again. I get home in 11 hours :/ dem responsibilities

just beat Act I NM. L39, 6.5k HP/1k DPS. game owns but I'm super bummed about my achievements going missing.

DAYUM!

Man, looting the AH is so tempting but it seems like it would trivialize loot drops. :<

I think I'll just save the AH for Nightmare when better gear actually becomes useful.

So here it is, 9PM my time (Japan), I got kicked out of the Asia server, so I decided to make a Monk on the USA Server. I just got kicked...8am Eastern, 5am Pacific...on a Thursday. W...T...F....

Did they seriously not have the server capacity to handle 8am on a weekday gameplay?

You'll find it doesn't trivialize loot drops as it makes it feel more like "OK, I got this awesome weapon, now let me power through some content to try to find one that drops that's better!"

That's the mentality you should have.

So guys... after some initial thought and use of the auction house, I have some concerns about the way items are handled in D3 and hope some smart people can allay my fears!

Obviously they've opted to not use the "Bind on Equip/Pickup" restrictions that apply to games like WoW, which I thought was pretty cool at first. However, after looking at the AH yesterday for legendary items, I was quite shocked at the sheer quantity already available.

Now I know that it is launch week and they are low level items, but if there is nothing to provide attrition to items in D3, is it not likely that we end up with a completely saturated market for all level items at some point down the line?

This has me worrying that the real money AH (or traditional for that matter) will eventually be flooded and consequently their use and appeal diminished.

Items increasing cumulatively, coupled with their perpetual tradability, will surely make everything a bit 'common', no? Tell me I've missed something guys!

I've sold more items this way than regular (normal) items. People are going to push through normal on their own without spending the money.

I honestly think the real sellers will be past Nightmare.

An Open Letter To Publishers

Dear Publishers,

You may be looking at D3's online-only DRM and thinking to yourself "This is fantastic, we need to implement this in our game as well." I'm penning this letter to let you know that unless your game is insanely good that is not a wise choice.

Blizzard has virtually unlimited resources at their disposal, and they can barely make it work. The only saving grace for them is that they make games so good that we are willing to put up with this horseshit. Unless you can look at your game and honestly say "Yes, my game is as good as Diablo III" then you had best rethink any ideas you may have about online-only DRM.

I know, "We won't have to worry about pirates blah blah blah." You also won't have to worry about anyone buying your game, because D3 is the game that is teaching us all what it's like to block off some time to play only to find that the servers are down and you can't play your single-player experience even though your internet connection is just fine.

I know some of you are going to try it anyway. I'll be here to say "I told you so."

Sincerely,

Risible

Given the difficulty of Inferno and the amount of people that will be successful in it, I would say the money and real market is gonna happen at the endgame.

So is there a group already making a mockery of the devs on Inferno?
A group from Method cleared Act 2 on Inferno, but knowing their history in WoW, i'm not surprised.

They had a warning saying the servers would be going down at 8am est for 12 hours now.

You can play with skill and change them anytime you want. But on inferno, sticking with one build is better because of magic find factor that is rising - change it and its back to zero.

You'll loose you hardcore character. He is sixfeet deep.
But you can die infinetely on every difficulty.
Thing that matter is hardcore - die and permadead.

Works the same way as regular skills do.

Thanks. I've been playing without the first one set because I wasn't sure. :lol

This is off-topic but not thread worthy I guess ...

I have never played Diablo or any other similar PC game, ever. Until recently I did not even have any interest in it, but after reading a lot about the series and watching tons of Diablo III streams, I think I would really like these games in single player (I always thought they were mostly Multiplayer Online or PvP at least, what an ignorant).

As I never play games on PC and I only have a non-gaming laptop, Diablo III is not an option at the moment. I am thinking about starting with Diablo II + expansion. I see I can buy those games on DVD and I guess my 2 year-old laptop will run it perfectly. I would play off-line single player only.

Does this sound as a good idea? anything I should know before inmersing myself in this madness?

IMO it hasnt aged very well at all. I hope you like it though.

Wait, are they really down for 12 hours?

No, they announced this downtime 12+ hours ago.

How does dual wielding work? I used 2 fists most of the way through Act 1 then I found a 2-handed weapon with around 1 dps more than my main hand fist and my attack was higher.

I even noticed I'd get a damage boost by equipping a shield.

How in the fudge?

Ah, OK. Hopefully they don't just pound through it. The devs REALLY hyped the difficulty of Inferno, and if people complete it within a week of release...*sigh*

And I mean, while I can see a group like Method or Blood Legion being impressive, D3 is a pretty different game in terms of mechanics and such, so I would expect the same performance from any D2 vet really. We'll have to see how it plays out, though...

The oldies are still plenty good. Obviously many of the mechanics will feel older (the game is from 2000) and that graphics will be dated but it's still the same Diablo game in the core, and definitely a lot of fun.

Hell is harrrrrrrdddddd to duo :3 ♥

Maybe so. I'll probably end up wilting and checking stuff out, though really, thus far it hasn't been necessary at all for Normal.

I've sold more items this way than regular (normal) items. People are going to push through normal on their own without spending the money.

I honestly think the real sellers will be past Nightmare.

Yeah that's also when you'll truly want to have proper gear.

QFT. The only reason I'm still tolerating this crap is because its Blizzard and Diablo 3. Any other company try to pull this DRM crap and I will just laugh at them.

Gah, another maintenance, another downtime. I'm on Tokyo time and it's near impossible to play the damn thing!

/rant

Game is good otherwise, had a lot of fun even though the act 2 just went by too fast since I duo'd it with a random dude.

Looking forward to play with a few gaffers when this game goes back online.

Logged in, lagged

fuck FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Oh man, feel your pain. They need their servers to be stable. Tempted to try hardcore for some good fun too but the connection is too spotty atm to try. (I used to get 160ms ping in the beta and i'm usually over 220ms now)
