How the hell do you make the Tomes of Blacksmithing??? I've separated stacks of pages into 5, but whenever I right click them nothing happens. What gives? I'm missing something.

Me and two others beat the game on Normal, and are currently going through it on Nightmare. The difficulty spike is considerable. I can't seem to find a working build for my Witch Doctor. I'm having so much fun, I'm getting worried that I'm ignoring other things in my life.

I think you can make them on a higher difficulty after you reach it. That's just a guess though. Can't seem to find a definitive answer to this one.

Anyone on the NA server want to co-op him?

So how do I know when that is the case? Is a savepoint at the beginning of a new dungeon a "larger checkpoint"?

In general when you manage a quest goal you get one of them. The smaller checkpoints are when you reach a new area or a new dungeon level etc. Sometimes the checkpoints are very close, sometimes they take a long time. For example in Act 1 the earlier quests just need you to go talk to someone to hit the checkpoint, while in Act 2 you have one quest that requires you to do two small dungeons before you hit the quest update.

Make? Tomes drop on Hell.

On my alt Wizard I find I'm leveling faster solo than with a group. It's just harder in the item department since there is zero swapping.

I had to level up a HC monk to catch up with my group after dying stupidly the other night and I also found this to be true. I was leveling significantly faster solo (and by faster I mean by the time I reached the same point in the story my character was a higher level when solo'd then when grouped), but my loot was trash.

I don't know how experience is divided in game, but I would say empirically it's not even. I base on the fact that for some reason two out of 4 in that group seem to keep getting farther ahead even when we had played every moment together.

Noob question here: Is there any difference between using a wand with the same attributes as an axe? Seems like weapons all do the same thing, unless it is a bow and arrow, which shoot only if you run out of Mana?

thanks...

Every night my 3 friends and I go at it. Seeing everyone fight and having all these attacks and skills go off is fucking amazing. It's always a light show. I don't know if I can go back to playing solo. Having our own loot and giving it to someone who needs it is awesome. We each play a different character.

Wish I had some friends like that to consistently group with. I guess I'll wait till after finishing normal to try co-op because randoms will gogogo and rush through the dialogue.

since my PC sucks and I won't be able to upgrade it until it breaks, what's the word on the supposed console versions? i remember blizzard hired some folks to work on it but i haven't heard anything since.

They're exploring the possibility. Last we've heard moving with a controller works great but casting spells is awful.

I know a lot of people (me included) had the annoying problem with the beta stuttering all over the place.

Has that been fixed in the full release?

Elective Mode should be bolded, highlighted, big bright letters, tutorial mode asking if you want it on sort of option.

Why the heck they hid it is completely puzzling.

I think the bolas (with the first rune that increases the blast radius) are pretty good, personally. The single-target damage may not be amazing, but stick them in a horde of enemies and the damage really piles up.

Aoe damage isn't cutting it in nightmare for me. I'm finding taking down a single target is more beneficial than killing all at once. They have some much health, and so dangerous it's better to concentrate wittling them down one by one. That said, I have impale on penetration... so it does hit multiple... as well as hungering arrow.

From what I've experienced in nightmare.. i think my end game build will be

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aZgXYj!bXe!ccYZc

It's so vanilla.. but it works on paper.

So in Act 3 I was wandering around when you get out in the open and I noticed a dungeon all the way to the left in a corner. Turns out it was a massive 2 level dungeon that took like 20-30 mins that I found a legendary axe (burning axe of sankis) and a couple rares. The game rewards you so much for just exploring the map. Only bad thing about this is that since so many people are just gogogo constantly I wonder how many of these beautifully crafted dungeons are going to waste. Some of them are random yeah but many not. I can't stand the gogo mentality of today's gamers, such low attention spans and patience.

So after playing using a guest pass, I decided to buy it. Well there goes my $60 and now I have to wait until Tuesday to come. Can't wait!

The AH is convenient and much faster (when it's not broken), but it removes some of the social aspect of trading. I always used the trade channels and trading games and I enjoyed the process of asking random people to trade, throwing out everything I had available, looking at what he had and then negotiating the trade.

Nothing really stopping you from doing that, but the AH is also there. I mean, whats stopping you from saying "hey i have such and such to trade, looking to deal" right here and finding someone interested. The AH is just a feature added to simplify things and remove that extremely niche black market aspect of the game into a hassle free source (and pad ActiBlizz's pockets with 15% of the proceeds :P)

My least favorite parts of the game are any scenarios involving some story related event, if I had the option I would turn off all chatter the characters have while running around. The parts where I'm having the most fun are the ones with mindless slaughter and randomized levels.

Haha, got nearly one shotted by it aswell in Nightmare. It was actually harder than anything in that act. Almost there now on Hell. Will be fun, but I'll just monk it up np!

That's why the end portions of Act III are so badass,
just a non-stop crawl through shitloads of enemies among the best setpieces in the game.

You must not be using the Scoundrel. His chatter is amazing.

I'm at the very end of act 4 on Nightmare, and I still have no idea what I'm doing wrong. My kit is pretty much up to date, I'm using a good set of skills that synergize well, etc. Still, all I can really do is kite. That's my whole build. Aggro a mob, cast smoke screen to gain some distance, and then rapidly drain my hatred using either Chakram (dual rune), or Elemental Arrow (Lightning Ball rune).

It works fine, until I get to a boss like
Izual
that is absolutely rocking me.
Belilal
is just a cheap fight, but this is genuinely kicking my ass.

I open my games to the public and no one ever joins. I'm not sure if it's a port issue or what.

I don't suppose you're in NA and you'd want to just take him down for me, would you?

I'm not even joking. I'm so salty right now.

I'm actually enjoying the story and characters...I pick up all the journals and listen to all dialogue, etc. I also click on all allies when the blue star is over their head that signals new dialogue. It's not incredible or anything but it's decent for a video game. Pretty standard affair but thanks to it being Diablo it feels a little above that.

I'm positive act 2 is my least favorite act right now

I am absolutely loving this game, but I realllllly wish the loot was vastly more dynamic. Where are the ability modifiers and quirky stats from D2? It would very much add some fun and rarity to the loot hunt if you could find items that were "20% Less Fury Cost for Whirlwind" or "Increases the Duration of Threatening Shout". I'm sure that might cause a balancing nightmare but it would make the loot a lot more interesting. Apologies if these come in later difficulty settings and I haven't seen them yet.

Yeah, weakest one for me. Act 3 on the other hand...AWESOME!

I am not sure what things are currently in D3 but other than class specific ones, some skill based ones would be nice.

Uhh. Have you looked at what kinds of stuff the stats can modify? Press the Details button your char sheet.

Trying to install to use the "trial" version code I got and I keep getting Error code: BLZPTS00002, and it cannot connect to download updates.

This happens when I run the installer for the game client.

Any ideas? Seems a handful of people are getting this...

So... What's up with this game?

Correct me here if I'm wrong but... Everything I heard from Diablo 2 led me to believe there was quite a lot to the game content-wise. Max level content, ie, content for players after beating the main story. Basically, what I heard led me to believe there were a bunch of side quests, additional bosses and additional zones you could play in after beating the story. I'm not counting expansions here.

But from what everyone tells me, Diablo 3 is just... The story. Once you beat the last story boss, it's time to do everything again. So, there are no exclusive bosses to higher difficulty levels. No additional zones with high level mobs, no content at all that's actually original for all that new loot and whatever else.

Is this really how it is? Because the game is short as hell from what I've played, and I can't imagine myself replaying the same thing over and over 8, 9, 10 times. I sure could do it a bunch of times, provided there was actually something different for me for each difficulty level. Inferno is an everything-60 campaign, but it's just the main quest, again. Hardcore sounds incredible, but eh, again the same game, from start to finish. There are no side quests at all? I think I've seen one or two, but they're events. Not actual side quests that have you explore the world. I know bosses have more mechanics in higher difficulties but...

This bothers me so much because this game is so incredible. I hadn't played a Diablo game before, tried the beta with little interest, but the game is just so good on sound, graphics, the feel of the gameplay, the feeling of killing monster, the animations, everything.

Yet it feels so gimped on content... There's no endgame. Just the same game, but with different difficulties. And apparently, a rather short and linear game too. I played Titan Quest and I think 30 hours in and hadn't gotten to the end of it. It really felt huge, despite repetitive environments. Diablo feels short from everything I've played and asked my friends.

Depends what you're looking for. If no search, tab to the next thing and back to search again, it will be clickable.

It's messed up, it still won't return results. I'm raging right now, I want to use it before continuing playing.

Ok the AH in Europe seems to be fucked. Search doesn't bring up anything.

Yeah the search is kinda borked. If you put on any details in your search it glitches out.

Well you heard wrong. D2 had even less stuff to do (until they patched in Uber monsters). D3 has random events you can hunt for, so those kinda are sidequests, I guess? But the main drive is killing monsters for lewts.

Why must there be
spiders
in every damn RPG-ish game I play.....WHY?!?! Although admittedly, the ones in this game don't seem to bother me nearly as much as in other games.

Landed a trial. If the install get's interrupted you don't have to start over do you? This is looking like it's going to take all time.

You should ask Boken what he uses. I don't think it's like that build and he destroys stuff.

This may be a dumb question...

But I currently have a 2H Bow-Staff thing equipped that does about 25.9 DPS. Now, I have a pair of iron fists that do 23.9 and 22.7 DPS respectively. Would using the fist weapons equal out to be more DPS than the 2H or not?

Like, basically what I'm asking is if dual wielding weapons DPS stacks or if there is some weird algorithm for how the combined DPS is determined.

There are a few unique events, but I don't think they're unique to the difficulty level. You may not see them until higher level difficulties though, so they'd be new to you.

Other than that, yeah, you've basically got the gist of it. If the quest for bigger and better loot isn't your thing, the game is going to get stale quick.

Well you heard wrong. D2 had even less stuff to do (until they patched in Uber monsters). D3 has random events you can hunt for, so those kinda are sidequests, I guess? But the main drive is killing monsters for lewts.

Yeah I know there are events, they mean a quest for me, but it's always in the same spot where you already are. They feel like, well, events, not side quests. Diablo 2 had many more areas though, is this correct? The level cap was 100... Then again, it was randomly generated tiles from what I read...

I know the actual bragging rights are in 'hey, I beat Inferno'! And doing it with friends, etc... I just... Sort of expected more bragging rights in the form of super hard bosses, like Heroic-only bosses in some WoW raids. Speaking of WoW, I think that's what has spoiled me. Diablo 3 feels like it has so little content, and no endgame content at all.

Uhh. Have you looked at what kinds of stuff the stats can modify? Press the Details button your char sheet.

Ya all the gear I see is like +INT/DEX/STR, +ATK Speed, +DMG, +Class Specific Resource. It's just the same stuff over and over while the numbers go up. I know this is how all RPGs essentially work, but I did like the specific class skill modifiers from D2. Maybe Bliz is saving that kind of gear for the expansion pack.

When you dual wield you get a 15% attack speed increase, and your alternate attacks between your main hand and off hand. Basically you would get tr average dps between the MH dps and OH dps.

From the looks of it, I would say your 2h will do more damage, but you should just equip both and see what your characters final dps is before deciding.

Has anyone heard any updates on lost achievements? There were some threads earlier in the week, but they seem to have vanished.
