Paul Gale Network Bullshit: "Star Fox Metroid: Fusion Saga" isn't real (no shit!)

Damn, a Captain-N game would be incredimazing. Come on Nintendo, you want it, too!

This is the same source that reported a 3DS Castlevania being in development...as of December 2010.

Yeah, about that..

Hoping this is one of the many rumors Paul gets that is false.

Honestly, this just wouldn't mesh well.

I'd much rather Retro tackle a new IP, or a franchise by itself...not a crossover.

What a terrible idea, I can't believe Nintendo is making a really good dev work on a fucking terrible franchise, Star Fox.

As a large crossover game it could be cool. But just Metroid/Star Fox?

Neither is a large enough seller to do anything but hinder the other. Toss in Mario stages, and maybe some Zelda, putting each of those stars in competing games. That could sell. Work out the details later.

But Metroid/Star Fox is, as EatChildren already said, a way to kill both franchises in a single blow.

How can you kill what's already dead?

All but one of your examples are genre shifts and alterations to existing franchises, the focus still being on those franchises. Smash as an example is fairly irrelevant as cross franchise battling is the foundation for that series.

Taking two drastically different properties and smashing them together is a different beast entirely.
You're right. But still, I think it can work. Both are sci-fi franchises, both feature space bounty hunters, and both have been dabbling in different genres over the years. I don't see too strange this crossover if it's true.

Just imagine the potential multiplayer for this game. It's insane. I'm not the biggest fan of either Star Fox nor Metroid, but I'd jump on this game from the start.

It would be interesting to know where this rumour originated from. I don't think that Paul Gale fabricated it himself, but we've seen different sources imply that Retro is working on a StarFox title. Do all of these sites have the same source? Is it just a crude joke by a Retro employee who's now laughing his ass off?

Game sounds like it'd be great to play. Not sure about the fusion of these two franchises, though.

I'd love a Metroid or Starfox that borrowed gameplay mechanics from the other.

If this is true, this sounds like one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard of... but if anyone can make it work, I guess no one could get closer than Retro Studios!

You mean StarFox and Sonic. UGH, DO NOT WANT.

Just because they're furries am i rite?

Both franchises have been referencing each other that it's pretty much hinting at that point. From G-Diffusers to shared enemies, to characters and "G-Zero".

Absolute bollocks. This is the "ROCKSTEADY MAKING TMNT?!?" turd website. I don't care if someone told him about PS All-Stars, he's talking complete shite.

This doesn't make sense.

I mean, if there's a shared universe at all it's Star Fox AND F-Zero.

Huh? Human James Mcloud from F-Zero pretty clearly means that it doesn't share an universe with the animal Star Fox characters and fox James Mcloud.

I realise that this is a rumour that is very likely not to be true...

But this sounds really interesting? Half Metroid Prime and half reimagined Star Fox, from a proven and competent developer? It may be a weird crossover but I'd play it because it doesn't sound like anything else... What's so wrong about it?

This rumor sounds fake. These franchises are too much different to be in a crossover. The only crossover that make sense in the Nintendo IP is Smash Bros.

Huh? Human James Mcloud from F-Zero pretty clearly means that it doesn't share an universe with the animal Star Fox characters and fox James Mcloud.

What's to say they're different James? Also Wolf is in F-Zero too.

What I'm talking about is stuff like G-Diffuser technology, Octoman appearing in both games, F-Zero in Star Fox, etc. They're pretty much giving shoutouts to each other that they pretty much beg to be in the same game at some point.

I mean, wouldn't you want a Bayonetta-ish game starring Captain Falcon and has shooting segments?

This made me think of Kingdom Hearts. I hated the idea of Kingdom Hearts, why would they do that?? Be NORMAL ffs! Either gimme a FF game, or gimme a Mickey Mouse platformer or something. One or the other, not both mashed together!

I refused to play any of the Kingdom Hearts games back on the PS2. From what I can gather today though, despite a mix of polar-opposite franchises, the series actually turned out pretty good. On paper it sounded ridiculous, but somehow they managed to get it right.

If this is actually happening (I wouldn't be surprised, it's Nintendo after all, and so the level of WTF seems appropriate), I will try to keep an open mind this time.

You know what screw this game, that fantasy I had involving Captain Falcon in a Bayonetta-style game is now I'm dreaming of.

That can't be true. A Starfox game with Metroid elements, as in game structure, not setting, would be the closest plausible thing.

Ha, quite a hilarious rumour. I'd like either a straight up starfox game or new ip. Oh and what's with the starfox hate? Hate on the ridiculous crossover rumour all you want, but how can you hate starfox?
