Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

I just hit Inferno Act 2 with my solo wizard, and I got killed a few times by the normal monsters in the first area outside the town.

I'm thinking of changing up my build substantially. To date I'd been trying to do lots of damage, obviously, but I'd also been keeping myself fairly tanky - with my armor spell on I've got 4k armor and about 320 resists, with 23k HP. Only 21% dodge, though. However, I'm finding that that's not even close to good enough. I still die in just a few normal minion attacks, and elites are frequently doing >50% of my health.

So why not avoid Vitality, take the Energy Armor rune that makes you take at most 33% of your max health in damage per hit, and try to get as much DPS, regen, life-on-hit/lifesteal, and Dexterity as possible? Keep Diamond Skin around for DoTs and emergencies. It's entirely possible that such a build could go toe to toe with a single strong monster and come out ahead, provided I can regen 1/3 of my max hp in the time it takes the monster to attack once (dodge helps too, though obviously it's streaky so I want regen/lifesteal to be doing most of the work). I also haven't tested how runed Energy Armor synergizes with Diamond Skin - does it make Diamond Skin essentially unbreakable as long as your max hp is sufficiently small? And if so can a high-crit build keep unbreakable Diamond Skin on more or less indefinitely with some combination of the extra-duration rune, Evocation, and Critical Mass?

Just with stuff I have in my stash, I can squeeze an extra ~20% DPS by paying no attention at all to survivability, and when I have enough crit gear that switching over is worthwhile that should start to quickly rise. I'm no worse off defensively against the elite mobs that actually give me trouble, and I should be dishing out a lot more damage. I think it's worth collecting some gear towards.

I wish when greys/whites are supposed to drop they just didn't. They aren't worth enough to vendor. The only purpose they serve is to get accidentally grabbed during combat so I have to waste time throwing them out, and making my dumbass miss gems because white names.

I am getting one hit by basically every pack of elite monsters in act 2 nightmare. I can't even imagine how difficult hell or inferno will be for my wizard... *sigh*

Seriously. The loot pinata effect might be fun for all of 5 minutes, but it gets really old. Don't even know why they bothered if they didn't want us to pick them up.

OMG I just wiped 20+ times on Rakanoth Act IV (hell difficulty) and finally killed him as a DH. Most fucked up fight ever for DHs... bordering close to impossible due to latency issues.

I have a question,

I live in the US and my friend lives overseas, now, can we play coop together or do I have to create an (account/buy the game) designated to that country !? Or Both !?

Thanks,

Ok I need help. I just got to level 50 (was 49 when I beat the last boss NM and had to level before moving on.) I died like 50 times to the guy before the last boss
Izual
before finally being able to kill him by running around like a bitch and going in for a few hits and running some more. Anyways, I went into a public game to get my last level and then proceed to finishing the act again but I keep getting completely destroyed. wtf am I doing wrong? This is super frustrating, I cant attack enemies for more than a few seconds before having to run like hell. :|

Is it my skills? My gear? What the hell? I have 13k hp.

Just read about the wizard who soloed inferno Diablo eh?

You can switch regions for free but characters are separate.

Just hit 50 on my hunter and finished up Nightmare mode with my buds.

Tomorrow we plan on blasting our way through hell mode. Oh and apparently a map hack exist /disgusted

I use this (I am only in the 30s): Wizard Build. It's been a long time since I died and I level extremely fast because of AoE pack bonuses.

When you encounter an enemy you put on you can either Frost Nova or Diamond Skin, when either one wears off perform Wave of Force. Otherwise spam Energy Twisters and pick off single targets (or when oom) with Magic Missile. I prefer Teleport to increase how fast I move across the map and as a general oh shit button. You could switch it for really anything like Frost Armour with Chilling Aura, or Explosive Blast, Magic Weapon, (Archon if you got it) etc.

My strategy exactly lol

Just read about the wizard who soloed inferno [boss] eh?

Pretty much. He's convinced me that Force Armor and not worrying about HP are the way to go. I'm hoping some of the rest works out, though for all I know that's also what he did. I'm also hoping it's successful in going at elite packs. It wasn't clear to me if he was fighting them or mostly skipping them.

I don't understand,
Let's say , we both buy the game, we chose a region, but each region has its own characters !? That's fine since I am not gonna change the region.

Thanks,

I have a character in the Americas region. If I switch to the Europes region to play with a friend, I must make a new character.

Makes sense, thanks.
But if I switch back to my American region, I can continue on that character, right!?
Also, it doesn't matter if I move to another country and use my regular region, right!?
Sorry for the trouble, and thanks.

Wizard in hell mode is arguably the hardest thing I can think of in this game. I say this with no knowledge of witch doctor.

Everyone is saying different things. You go on barb forums there is posts how it is impossible to Hell with Barb, same with other classes.

It's like playing SC2 where everyone's race is the hardest

Just hit Act II...guess I was wrong about the eastern area before release...lol went right past it.

However this spot looks great, beautiful even (oil painting aesthetic really shines later in act I and here) and I like the music already. New Tristram is a new favorite as well. Dungeon music from Act I was good but not nearly as memorable as Diablo II.

The problem with Vision Quest is figuring out which of the big cooldowns are really worth taking, or whether it'd be better to have a lot of short cooldowns to pair with soul harvest + direbats/fire dogs/zombie bears.

Been watching Trumps stream, and man, dps really just skyrockets at 60, huh? He had several digits more than my friend who is 59.

I was expecting alot more from the Fetish Army skill on the WD. That is not worth a 120 second cooldown and 20 second active timer at all.

So I'm just startin Act 4 on Normal with my lvl 29 wizard and in addition to being fragile but it seems I'm below average on damage output.

Is it normal for a Wizard to have 170ish dmge at this point or am I doing something wrong?

Tapers off means the opposite of what you said.

You should have more than that. I'm also starting Act 4 and I have ~600 dps. I bought stuff in the auction house in Act 2 though, so that might change things.

The easiest way to boost your DPS is to look for rings/amulets/offhand with +dmg. It has a far bigger effect on your overall DPS than most INT heavy items, at least early on. Try getting a weapon with a socket so you can put a ruby gem in it as well.

I roll with a group, so I went with SW(Jaunt), SH(Siphon), BBW(Slam Dance) and Hex(Jinx). No summons cause I have someone to tank for me and the 30% dmg + 20% on hexed target is really good versus hard hitting demons.

That said, it does feel like I'm juggling cooldowns way too much. Almost feels like an MMO where I watch my rotations (SW, SH and Hex all have 15 second CD) more than I watch the fight. What also sucks is that I use my escape cooldowns to get my mana up, not use them when I actually need it. Stuff like SH and SW can be a life-saver, but they are used in the beginning of the fight to get regen going for batspam.[

Also, Bats(Dire) is a good nuke, but it is imo the only good nuke in Hell and onward. Zombie Chargers only hit one target (with a small aoe), while Zombie Bears require you to be way too close to the enemy. It's probably worth going the Grasp of the Dead/Locust/Zombie Bear build for some up and close damage tho.

Last one is Dart(Splinters) cause I like to have a non-mana option for when I mess up and run out of cooldowns.

I'm currently using wand and offhand combo but my offhand source, pretty much everyone I find, never has the damage up to more than 10 and the highest boost to arcane power I've seen is 5 so far

I just hit 60 on my Witch Doctor. Hell is fine if you play a vision quest build. Even without one you can still manage it, you just have to take your time and make the most of the crowd control the class has to offer.

I didn't switch to vision quest until I hit 54, which was this morning. It has been an endless stream of zombie bears running rampage all day long.

Hell wasn't too bad until Act 3 or 4, but man, Inferno is another beast (as a monk). The champions or whatever they're called, the blues/yellows literally rip me to shreds.

Can someone tell me whats the difference between carrying mojo and shield?
Seems shields can have the same stats + armor for way more defense

I think the main appeal is the +damage mod and I would assume the possibility of witch doctor specific perks like mana regen. That being said, there's no hidden modifiers or anything, if you have a shield that looks better to you, throw that bad boy on!

Just beat Act 2 on Nightmare. Wizard is level 42 now with about 1370 DPS and 8000 HP. I feel like it's a lot safer to give up some DPS to get the extra boost in HP.

What's your specific build?
