I'm not having connection issues, but still wildly fluctuating FPS - avgs 12-15. It's terrible.
I have yet to play this game smooth in the 2 days ive owned it.

It can't possible be my rig, can it?

Intel core i7 CPU Q820 @ 1.73 GHz
6GB Ram
GeForce GTX 260M (1024MB GDDR3 dedicated video memory)
Latest driver (296.10)

Doesnt matter if I put it highest or lowest settings, pretty much same result.
I seem to be in the same boat as you. Same processor and RAM but graphics card is Radeon HD 6520G, updated driver to latest. While I don't get framerates that low and my connection is usually around the 100-200 ping it's still quite bothersome. It happens more on co-op play especially when there is a huge mob and lots of action going on. Changing from high to low graphics also has little effect on performance.

When there isn't much going on and I am playing solo, I get smooth as hell framerates and game play. Act 1 and Act 2 were solid but Act 3 has so much stuff going on in the environments and the more complex mobs plus of course better, more spammy skills unlocked.

Inferno is an entirely different ballgame.

It's pretty obvious Inferno was only internally tested a little.

They basically admitted that pre-release, heh. Something about how they had their testers go through it and then simply doubled the difficulty. Probably not the most effective thing to do for balance.

I really have come to hate the rune system. For all the variety you have the truly viable options are extremely limited. There's really not a lot going on there and I rarely change anything up.

What class/difficulty?

Can the normal full game install function as a starter edition client too?

I have two friends comin over who are both getting guest passes from me. I have my full D3 installed on both my PC and my Macbook, and it'd be sweet to let them both set up their starter accounts and try co-oping together on my two computers.

Also, goddamn. DH is boring as shit these first 5 levels. A snare trap? How exciting for a first skill.

Hooray, just got my first legendary, a nice set of gloves that are actually very good for my monk. First drop at level 47 near the act 3 of NM.

Well this is fucking great... :/

I have been playing on my Mac for the past 4 days with no problems, FPS was fine and everything. Now today I attempt to login and my FPS has dropped to like 5. I tweaked around with the settings every which way, nothing works...well going too 800x600 res seems to bring it up to a modest 20 fps.

Hell, I even bootcamped to my PC side and installed it there, same fucking issue.

So I dunno what the hell the problem is, but now I can't play.

This happen to anyone else?

Anyone?

It's been bugging me for a while, but who's doing the male wizard VA? I'm sure i heard him in another game recently...

He's talking about Inferno . . . and for all the possible skill combinations it's pretty clear that most of the runes are worthless.

well he didn't make that very clear. he said past act 1. we shall see, i guess.

i'll admit the class has some problems especially with mana.

Male wizard is in heaps of stuff, anime in particular he gets around a ton. Name is Crispin Freeman and I know him best for being the voice of Alucard in Hellsing anime but there's a long list of things he's done.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crispin_Freeman#Video_Games

There's a list of his video game work for you if you wanna check which games you've known him from, I can't stand him personally because he reminds me of the shitty animes I've seen him in and it doesn't help that I recall him playing a highschool student when I'm supposed to be slaughtering hoards of demons.

Nightmare with the wizard is not easy haha. Gonn have to rethink my build. So i do have a question though. I see people talking about weapon damage , is this something i should be watching out for even on a wizard? I keep switching gear out to whatever givese the most dps or intellect. Suggestions? I am 33 an my dps is about 600

Start paying attention to VIT, seriously, dps is important, but in group play ( hell right now, lvl 58), I give up around 1.5k dps for a shield so that I can actually take hits, lol, rolling with around 4.5k dps but with 33k health

Also, solo, kite all day long

Hit 60 and cleared hell tonight, so tired. I wanna go back to act 1 and 2 and farm with full stacks of nephalem valour but that's for tomorrow :)

Point of Information.

Act 4 Chapter 1 is better for XP stacking than Wortham. Just did both and:

Doom in Wortham (Nightmare) - 19,800xp, 1245g in 2 minutes (~3 minutes including running)

Fall of High Heavens (Nightmare) - 25,600xp, ~970g in 25 seconds (~1 minute including running)

And of course the items that fall will be late-game quality rather than early-game quality.

I love Diablo 3, the combat is fun as hell, and I cant go back to Diablo 2 now because of it.

But, what the fuck took them 6 years (assuming they did start on it in 2006?) I mean the itemization is all fucked up, inferno from what Ive read seems barely tested/balanced, and imo act 4 just felt like a wet fart / ran outta time..., plus no pvp at launch.

Blizzard has some patching and Expansioning to do

ironically the art style is my favorite part of the game.....

I dont watch animes so its definitely not from there. Maybe i heard him from Arkham City, or maybe its someone else that just happen to sound like him. Because all the other games i played (Bioshock 2, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos Origins) are freaking old!

Not to mention that I have to play with lag around 100 to 200ms every time I play...there's so much fail in this game I'm almost pissed that I caved in day 1. I hope Blizz really puts all its effort to make the game shine like it should've from day 1...

Are you serious? you can barely notice the lag at 250 and you're complaining about 100-200ms? Considering a good majority of us have been playing with 250-400 during prime time hours thats nothing. Hilarious.

I am guessing changing things over and over. The early stuff shown is very different to how it ended up. I can see them just remaking things over and over until they got something that felt sufficiently god enough to drive the Genre forward. Most developers are only just making Diablo 2 level games, aka PoE and Torchlight. Hopefully Blizzard keep adding to this new system to make it deeper.

I think it's right to have a look at NM Wortham and Normal Act4 quest1. Besides I can do Worthram in 70 seconds as DH with game creating.

Servers are down in Euroland, so I might as well post here.

Completed the game with my Monk, level ~30 or so. I had trouble at first on the Act II boss. But by swapping some items I easily raised my hp 1000 points or so. If you take care to avoid all the damage thrown around it's not so bad. The rest of the game progress was a bit slow, I found out later that I should have boosted my Dex a lot more. Even so, I was able to defeat the last boss with ease. Breath of Heaven was enough to heal my damage, I spammed Flashing Strike/Flying Side Kick to stun and Seven Sided Strike to damage.

Fun game! Level design is gorgeous, variety in monsters is good. Story was a bit crap though and there are a several loose ends (hello expansion!). Other than server issues, that's my biggest disappointment with the game. It's not something I care about with most games, but Diablo II had some of the best storytelling in a game ever, with many incredible scenes. D3 is just meh.

I'm also not too sure about the item balancing. Once I discovered the auction house (lol) it became clear that you're better off farming gold than gambling on drops that almost never fit your character. Being able to buy perfect Rare items is taking away a lot of fun hunting drops. But perhaps this will be better at higher levels.

I just pretend the AH isn't there and play the game my way, I'm all about loot and the randomness of it. I'm not a competitive guy.

Also let's not forget that when the AH goes to real money a lot of the stuff on the AH for coins will switch over when everyone tries to make a buck.

Then know you can do Act 4 Q1 even faster. While getting even more XP.

All you have to do is kill the one gold dude and it's over. It can probably be done faster than 25 seconds, but I like working for it. lol

edit: yea, just did it in 15 seconds. would have been faster, but the gold dude takes a few seconds to appear.

This. I thought it took so long because they were balancing the systems, but the item stats system sucks.
Why make legendaries so rare if rares almost are always better.

The Auction House is silly as it currently stands. If you want to have fun with drops it's much better to basically ignore the big DPS buffs at the AH and concentrate on upping your Magic Find and/or Gold Find to craft, or just ignore the AH entirely.

With MF at a high level you can get good drops from Champions/Elites and the occasional chest.

Yeah, and please respond to the first part of my post as well. Ofc a Act IV quest gives more exp than a Act I quest. BUT for everyone in Act I-III Worthram is better than normal Act IV.

I hope this doesn't get fixed soon. I'd like to at least get a few easy levels out of it.

Blizzard update:

We're still letting players in slowly and keeping an eye on the service. This will result in some errors (37 for example) but we are seeing players able to connect to and play the game. We are also getting reports of latency once in the game. This has been reported to our technical team and is being looked into.

How good are these numbers for grinding a character from 53 to 60?

Got my first legendary last night on my 3rd run of the act 3 boss normal :) too bad it's barb only and I play a DH -.- now I'm stuck at the end boss :(

I'm not sure I understood the first part of your post. Was it a question?

As for your core point here...well, it read as kinda derp. If you're in Act I-III normal, Act IV normal isn't an option for you to select anyway. lol. It would be cool if someone already somewhere in normal Act 4 could try it out, but my comment wasn't for them anyway. Rather, it wasn't meant to be, since I have no means of testing it.

So to clarify my point if it was unclear: In Nightmare, XP stacking is 2x faster and with better drops in Act 4, Part 1 than in Wortham. The same may be true in Normal, Hell, whatever...but I can't speak definitively on that. :D

There really needs to be an "Appear Offline" mode.

Sometimes I just wanna sit back and explore/do follower achievements but then one of my friends joins my game and starts whining that I'm too slow and that we need to hurry to the boss.

uh.

I can't wait for diablo 4

No stats, no armor, only weapons and skills, only 3 skills active in one moment, No DPS only "hits hard ,slow, fast, weak, normal,. No mana or life only red tint. No classes only one character who has all skills.

it's not driving it forward, it's dumbing it down for masses.

I can hardly call Diablo Diablo like game. It's more like Ys seven now.

Skills sure looks nice and fancy but why did they took something that worked well.

I fear this game will last for month or two. Not like D2 for years.

edit:

DPS is already something i can't cope well. If you put 4-8 . 9-13, then why you put DPS ? If you want to dumb it down then just leave DPS.

How good are these numbers for grinding a character from 53 to 60?
Well, including time to exit the map, re-select the stage, get to and finish the fight...I'd say the round-trip time is about 1 minute.

So you can expect 25,000xp (+whatever little you earn for killing the little minions) every minute for as long as you feel like doing it. I'm not sure if XP can be built up faster other ways or not. But it sure does feel fast. ~1.53 million XP/hour. Plus time to sell the junk on a different level.

This. I thought it took so long because they were balancing the systems, but the item stats system sucks.
Why make legendaries so rare if rares almost are always better.

According to Bashiok (who I think is to blame for the poor itemization, since he defends it so vehemently) it's because they "look unique" that is the fun of a legendary... LOL

too bad this isn't wow with transmog...

If you're in Act I-III normal, Act IV normal isn't an option for you to select anyway. lol.

But going Act IV NM is a option if you are at Act I-III NM?

Look, my "point" is simple: I think its more appropriate to compare the Act I nm quest with the Act IV normal quest. Same for Act IV nm and Act I hell.
