Man, I am trying to find what class to roll next (I have a Monk) and it appears no one likes any of the class at end level. lol

Monks (no damage and nerfed - Quickening)
Barbs (Melee sucks in Inferno)
WD (Only one build and pets useless)
Wizard (Was OP but nerfed - force Armor)
DH (I forgot why people said it stunk)

So what does someone do for the next class?

Ive got a level 34 or so monk. Ive been stacking him with dex, and high dps socketed weapons with %based life steal on them. Then I turn and socket gems that grant hp per hit. And the rest of my gear I try and stack dex/vit/hp per hit (if available). Makes it so fun. I skill for any sort of tanking abilities and just run ahead of the group tanking everything. Life stealing and the spirit spent/healing gear/abilities keep me topped off. Its a nice change of pace from my Demon Hunter.

Im sure later on here in nightmare I wont be able to manage that on my Monk. But its still working well in early early nightmare.

I'm working on something like that with my DH. Currently around 2700 armor/3200 dps. The elites in hell are so annoying

Trying to figure this out myself. My Wd is lvl 53 and I intend to make it to 60, but will probably reroll after. If you look at battle.net forums there is pretty much one complaint or another against every class. I guess start a few and play whichever is the most fun.

Did I miss a patch?

Part of why the auction house gear is so good. Beat the final boss of the game when I'm level 32. The highest level of loot that dropped was level 22 with some of it level 17. I can buy stuff for cheap that is level 32. At this rate, I won't get equal yellow drops myself until I'm killing elites in Act 3 nightmare. and by then I cam buy the gear that people from act 1 of hell are selling which is at my level.

DH, I enjoy as do many others here. Just my opinion :)

Wait...there was a balance patch already? What's this about Wizards getting nerfed?

The servers were up for a while and revealed that Force Armor now seems to have a hidden overkill limit. That's what I gleaned from the few guys that were testing it while it was briefly running.

Ah.

Seems to me that people might just be underestimating how much gear is important come Inferno. I don't think it's really fair to complain that you can't solo past Act 1 Inferno until you're nearly well gear capped. Of course, I understand that the ranged classes seem to have an easier time with it, so that's a fair balance complaint.

Server maintenance? Are they for serious?

Plus its during the same time as the WoW one? I hope this is something they plan on doing every week.

Count on this to be the case. It happened in WoW. And this Diablo game isnt like its predecessors. Its online, so with that, will come BNet downtime = D3 downtime.

Probably every Tuesday for a long long while. I think they eventually stopped having maintenance every Tuesday for WoW, but IIRC it took yeaaaaars for that to happen.

Welp, got to Level 10 and beat the skelly king for the third time (beta beta beta) last night. Now the true Diablo III starts here. Looking forward to pushing through to the end of Act 1 tonight if I can stay awake. :P

No issues with connection, but there was a little bit of lag playing alone, which is never what you want. Still I shouldn't have any issues getting into this.

Here's hoping "of the Hawk" EQ remains viable for many levels to come :D

Few Barb Questions,

Level 34
Strength 750
Vital 500
Armor 2300
Playing nightmare it seems my strength and vital should be reversed? Dying pretty quickly against elites even with ignore pain, super saiyan(berserker I believe), and revenge.
Should I go for critical hit % on my weapons instead of straight up damage? Or what gems should be on my weapons?
Should I look for +fury items? Sometimes I am waiting on revenge and such on their cool down.
My passive skills are tough as nails, steel, and I believe the fury +10 or +20. So armor heavy with a little fury.

I realized my comment could be taken both ways, haha.

I stand by it on both accounts, though!

- It's ridiculous that this launch has been handled so poorly. I've lost a LOT of experience due to simple server hiccups, I've died because of unexplainable lag spikes, progress has mysteriously vanished because I logged out at the wrong spot, and I've been booted from the game for no apparent reason.

I haven't run into this yet, but not being able to play when I want to would definitely piss me off. I've been able to log in whenever (thanks to being busy with work and real life shit, too). I can see the frustration, though.

- Complaining about it is fine, we're all allowed to have our moments, but the argument of "Oh boy, server maintenance for my single player game! FFFFFMEEEEE" is wearing on me. EVERYONE who bought the game knew going into it that it was online only. Single player or not, you were fully aware that you need to be logged into b.net to play. Simple.

Furthermore, you cannot possibly think that there would be no launch hiccups. I agree that it's worse than it should have been, but launch hiccups are to be expected with a big release. Cataclysm was no different, and I imagine a few people probably remember when Ulduar launched and how the entire instance just shut down no more than an hour after launching. It's just the nature of HUGE server loads.

That being said, I don't think anyone cares that we all have our moments of, "Fuck you Blizzard fix my game." BUT! The single player complaints are ridiculous given how much information was available leading up to the launch.

I think Magic Missile is the best for lclick.

I suggest putting Frost Nova in there. It can save your butt if you get caught by a sudden mob.

I ran with frost nova for a while, but I feel like my build is very defensive so I wanted to get some additional damage. Maybe I'll try magic weapon.

What's considered the best run for magic missile btw? Decisions decisions.

WOW! Isnt that like.... a huge effing deal for mages now? IIRC thats why I get one shot in Inferno but they dont, it plays a massive part in their ability to survive. If they make mobs able to just hit them through it... Oh wow..

Agreed, IMO even if you didnt know beforehand, at some point the one liners in the OT have to get old. I understand "The servers are down for maintenance? FUUUU!!" more than I do "LOL single player game!". Seriously... Noone is apologizing for Blizzard, just.... direct your comments to them in an email or something and stop playing the part of a human Parrot in the thread plskthx.

I agree. If they tweaked it in the way I surmise (I can't test it personally and there wasn't enough time to direct anyone to test it precisely) then it should still do what it is supposed to, you just won't be able to hide from the gear curve as you could previously. It should now scale positively with VIT rather than negatively. On the other hand maybe it's just hella broke! Can't say for sure yet, but Wizards were definitely eating consistent 1-shot kills with it up in Inferno (though these were only consistent on a per-character basis which is why I think it has to do with the per-hit value).

It wouldn't surprise me to see Smoke Screen on DH get evaluated in the same light. There's really no reason to choose defensive stats right now when you can spam a 3-second invulnerability window while dealing full DPS; I don't expect a similar style of change for that move however, I expect them to prevent the DH from using offensive abilities while under the Smoke Screen effect.

i wish we could check the auction house online without the game loaded. I have a ton of stuff to sell but have already maxed out my 10 auctions. I mostly just selling all my loot that with stats i dont need for around 2-5k hoping level 20sih people see something they could use and dropping some low cash for it

That is what I have been doing. I always sell stuff for low, as I don't really care about the big bucks just yet. I find It better to atleast have some guarentted trickle of income than none at all.
Expect a WoW remote service, I'm sure it's coming.

If you have fury problems you can always use mighty weapons with the weapons master. I think you generate 3 per hit then use one of the fury runes to get ~9+ fury per hit. Critical hit is nice if you use any crithit runes. Life leech/life on hit is a little more important imo but if you're going mace/axe getting crit hit damage and adding an emerald gem is a nice boost in dps (you get 10% increased crits with mace/axe + weapons master)

Revenge doesn't have a cooldown afaik. It's just a chance based skill. It has 15% chance of activating when you get hit. I've gotten it like 3-4 times in a row really fast before and sometimes not at all.

Here were my stats at 37 and I was doing fine:

I'm kind of not sure why you're having issues since your stats (at least the ones you posted) are way better than mine were. It might come down to the skills/passives you've chosen.

I would cry if they did that without adding time to the smoke screen state. I think I would cry if they made that change period. Smoke Screen was the only way I was able to kill my clone in phase 2 of the
Diablo fight
on Hell difficulty. I tried using a Sentry bubble for 15% damage reduction, I tried the passive damage reduction rune with Prep. Hell I tried them both simultaneously once, but I regretted not having the prep heal when I did, even though that made it possible. DH really do have a rough life survivability wise compared to a lot of the other classes IMO.

Well, I certainly expect them to change it and I can't think of a cleaner way to do it off the top of my head. They may actually do it where activating an offensive ability just ends the effect immediately (so you aren't actually forced to stay in the state for 2-3 seconds), but the ability to deal damage while fully immune probably isn't going to last. I feel like it would be a lot worse if they kept that aspect but added a cooldown ala Spirit Walk.

Gonna start Hell on my sorc now! :D

All of my skills are for defensive purposes as most of my gear is pure INT with a bit of VIT. I need them unless I want to die.

I use Charged Blast for Magic Missile. I need to dabble more with the others though.

that's basically what happened to me. i was focusing a lot on +dmg up until the end of act two (nightmare) when i was getting sat on pretty consistently. got a lot of +vit gems for my sockets (+life for helm) and loaded up on vitality armor and am doing a lot better.

you don't have to deal a lot of dmg, you just have to stay alive long enough to win the fights.

i like war cry with the health regen bonus more than ignore pain personally. also revenge and rend with life leach are key.

No you just haven't been surfing the battle.net D3 forums enough.

Assumptions man. Fuck this maintenance.

Haha, well then. Looking around I see people mentioning Quickening (Monk) doesn't work with Sweeping Wind which I'm fine with since ... if it did work, that was a bug. Force Armor having an overkill value is fine depending on where it's at. Though, my non-HC Wizard hasn't even started yet so what do I know!

SS + Prep is a MUST HAVE for every DH build sadly. We have little to no survivability without it. That being said, I enjoy popping SS and dancing around the fights. It's actually a really fun playstyle! But it doesn't leave much room for other cool and creative builds.

I've dumped all hope for armor and vit in order to maximize damage output. SS + Prep + Mark with Hatred Rune = hopefully dead before I am. There's a chance things will change once I start finding crazy good gear, but at that point, I'll have already put SO many hours into my DH and be at the top of my game...There won't be much reason to build a fun trap spammer or something cool like that.
