14th September? What the fuuuuuuuuuck

Fuck the italian movie industry and its outdated thinking about people not going to the movies during summer.

in the last 4 years WW market has exploded to a point where soon Hollywood will put all their resources into the INTL market. this is just the beginning
I don't understand what point you are making. Do you see "the INTL market" as being distinct and separate from the US market? The US is by far the biggest single market and it will continue to be into the foreseeable future.

So what's the ideal setup to watch this movie? IMAX or IMAX + 3D? This is my most hyped movie this year and I want my experience to be perfect.

And man, it's going to be a hard sell to get my friends to watch this with me. The trailers don't really show anything and most of their exposure to the Alien franchise comes from AVP. :barf:

There is nothing weird about that. Switzerland is divided in French, German and Italian speaking cantons.

I wonder if movies are also dubed in Romansh, eh.

It could be fun, but I feel I can piece the entire story together from the trailers. Honestly I could probably accurately predict what will happen from beginning to end.

I'm deff interested in this question as well. Not too educated on the different movie formats.

Watched an interview yesterday where Damion Lindenloff basically said that the 3 minute trailer gives away too much.

really? :( I was hoping it was being misleading. But I'm sure we can still count on surprises right? to be honest the 3 minute trailer doesn't give away much more than the original teaser trailer if you pay close attention to both, they are showing pretty much the same thing, the latest one only extends the shots.

Damn this movie looks great, and betting it's gonna be stunning in 3D... previews keep reminding me of Metroid or Dead Space set in the Aliens universe, which is a movie I've been waiting for... not based on the games (game movies = guaranteed suck factor of 10) but carrying the same kind of dark vibe.

please deliver!

There is one trailer that seems to have been taken down that shows one thing to much :/

Looks incredible, probably the most hyped I've been for a film since Inglourious Basterds. For faith it'll be as good as Alien.

I just got the Alien blu-ray and it has both the directors cut and the theatrical cut available. Which should I watch for my first viewing?

Yay, an OT where you won't be able to search thread titles and find it. Lovely.

Only half kidding.

Bought my ticket for the Thursday midnight IMAX 3D showing. Should be fun, just kinda wonder what the line situation will be like. My brother went to the Avengers midnight showing and showed up at 9:30 and ended up about 3/4 the way back in the line... I know there is some hype around this movie, but I'm hoping it isn't that bad.

This is the thread where Sculli and I do duel over Scott being superior to Cameron. This is the thread where Sculli falls.

2. Haven't made a good film in a decade
Somebody didn't watch Kingdom Of Heaven Director's Cut. Somebody should go hang their head in shame.

edit - but seriously, Prometheus is "do or die" for me in regards to 3D. If Scott cannot convince me that it can add substantial gain and difference to a film, no-one can. I don't mind 3D at all, I'm no hater, but I've yet to see a film where the addition felt like an undeniably good thing.

There was never any doubt. Only a fool's argument!

Target has the Alien BluRays on sale this week too. Don't know if they include Movie Cash like the Best Buys.

Guys stop hotlinking Amazon images.

edit - American Gangster was good, no doubt, but not his best. Also it felt like it was missing the ending. Which it was.

Funniest thing, Cameron is a much more consistent director than Scott. If you were to compare their entire library, Cameron would win. It's just that Scott's highs are so much higher. 'Best director of all time' higher.
