"Mortar" - Exclusively anti-ranged, melee doesn't even get hit by it. "Missile Dampening" - Exclusively anti-ranged, doesn't even effect melee. "Vortex" - Exclusively anti-ranged, doesn't even effect melee "Fast" - Anti-kiting, if you're not kiting their run speed increase is null. "Waller" - Anti-kiting and most directly screws with ranged classes and glass canons. "Jailor" - Anti-kiting and shouldn't even effect someone in melee range as it simply immobilizes you. "Teleporter" - Anti-kiting and doesn't even effect someone already in melee range
Knockback, Thorns, Nightmarish, Fire Chain, and Vampiric are really the only ones that fuck with melee more than ranged but, except for thorns and knockback even they're back for ranged. Molten maybe if you don't run after you kill the mob.
I'm sorry but you really don't know what you're talking about. Staying in melee range is a death sentence for any class. Ranged classes have the good fortune of not bring forced to stand there to do damage.

wut. I used them all game and noticed dying more often without them up. I may have to go back to my Crippling Wave/Resolve setup. Though, I just got to the point that I'm comfortable with my Crit Rate for Quickening ... hm.
Edit: On that note, does Sanctuary even work that well? Every time I've popped up, things just ran off so I couldn't figure out a good use for the "in field" debuff parts. Maybe I didn't try it on Elites and stuff though.
Can't say unforunately as I haven't used it before. But regarding Quickening, it was godlike before they "fixed" it this morning. It would generate spirit from crits and your sweeping wind crits quite often. Add in your mystic air ally who also has sweeping wind and you pretty much had an infitite pool of spirit. I literally just spammed mantra of healing with the boon of protection rune and was rolling through bosses like it was nothing. They honestly should've left it alone, because god knows that would've been great for inferno mode.
Unlocked the Gargantuan on my WD. Still not really feeling this class.
Not even sure why, but I think it's the 6 skill limit that makes the class less interesting than it should be.
Monks can do it. It's just super boring. Whittling down health slowly while running around waiting for Serenity to pop. Monks are pretty strong, don't get me wrong. Just so damn boring and take forever to kill anything.
im at ~80 right now, highest i've seen is 180 though, so i can't really tell a difference. but it is interesting. could be that we're playing in the middle of a tuesday lol
This is just a theoretical build I plan on trying when I reach level 54 tonight. Was thinking of Snake in the Face Dart or Numbing purely for extra CC/Hell survival.
Haha. They're glass cannons mind you, but those damn cannons are good. If I didn't put in so much time with my Monk I'd probably reroll awhile ago. Just going to grin and bear it and see what I can pull to make it through Inferno. As the saying goes, the best offense is a good defense. Going to put that to the test later.
actually, now that you mention it mine is lower than normal also. I'm at 195, down from an average of 270-350ish. Maybe they hit the servers with a wrench.

Yeah my friend is playing wizard and he destroys everything while my monk and 2 barbs are constantly being oneshotted ... makes me have class envy hahah.

I know it sounds like QQ but it's more me being annoyed that I can't play inferno with any of the people I leveled up with because I'm such a liability. I've read some posts from people who claim to be able to do inferno with barb but it's just them not realizing that they contribute absolutely nothing other than stunning and making the game harder for everyone there lol
I rebound this to the space bar and it is pretty nice. Easier to hit as your thumb is generally always there anyway and used to hitting it, also harder to fat finger and miss it, and your thumb is a beast compared to your pinky which helps for long sessions.
Bind your middle mouse button (scroll wheel) to "move." It's such a far-reaching, yet simple, change. I've not had a single issue of attacking when I wanted to move or vice-versa ever since.
Thank you for the advice. The space bar thing could help a lot. My hands are kind of weak and reaching for the numbers and the shift key with my weak pinky is uncomfortable. Space bar should be much better.
I'm not really used to clicking my scroll wheel on the mouse, but I'll try it. It seems to make the most sense.
Thanks again for all the suggestions from everyone. I really appreciate it.

You can really only tank for a couple seconds with ignore pain and if you're lucky, timely revenges. Outside of that you're only there for shouts, or to stun groups while you run around frantically trying to regen your health and wait for your cooldowns so you can tank for a couple seconds again. Your DPS is insanely low compared to everyone else because you spent all your resources getting vitality, armor, and resistances so you could tank for a couple more seconds.
So really you're not a good tank and you're not a good damage dealer. Stun and crowd control are helpful but not at the rate enemies scale in inferno imo
I've been trying everything. I've had 60k hp but that was pointless and I still got 2 shotted by those stupid wasp stingers. Now I'm going more armor (7-9k) with better defenses but this route is very, very, very expensive. You're essentially buying equipment from people who can actually farm act 4 and it all comes at a premium. I switched my passives from offensive to Inspiring Presence/Tough as Nails/Nerves of Steel. My main attacks are basically War Cry->Seismic Slam->Frenzy->Ground Stomp->Ignore Pain->Frenzy all while mashing Revenge with Provocation hoping it pops up 30% of the time. Right now Act 1 is a lot easier than when I was more offensive but it's also a lot less fun. I played from Normal->Hell with dual wielding axe/maces but now I have to play with a shield to get more defenses. I bought two legendary items to get my block chance up to 36% which helps a bit. I'm probably going to add enough dex to get to 20% dodge chance but it's all really boring gameplay. I spend more time running and trying to regen than actually fighting and I mostly solo inferno now because I'm such a burden on groups.

I have something around 30% Crit so, honestly, it's fine just on FoT for the most part. Then again, maybe I'm wrong and my sustainability was from Sweeping Wind and not anything else. Which would be pretty saddening. I liked that it was getting pretty hard to ever die in Hell.
Regarding Crippling Wave+Concussion and Resolve, I used them all game until Hell basically. Swapping out from Concussion had a damage increase typically speaking, though I never tried Resolve swapping. Granted, I survive a lot better without both of them now so perhaps they weren't working and I just had streaky damage samples since I wasn't really testing it.
So, of the people who have played multiple classes which do you find to be the most entertaining?
I've played almost all the classes through Act I normal (which isn't saying much) and gotten to Nightmare with my Barbarian.
I'm not in a place to say which is my favorite but I was certainly surprised at how much fun the Demon Knight can be (and he was the class I was least interested in). I had a ton of fun with the Barbarian (the feel of hitting things with him is fantastic). I also really enjoyed the Wizard too. The Monk and Witch Doctor weren't as fun as I was expecting them to be.

I've toyed around with the Monk, Wizard, and Witch Doctor so far, and if I wasn't so lazy I'd reroll to Wizard or perhaps Barbarian (WD is my main).
I'm only in Nightmare so I can still steamroll with the right build (cough vision quest cough), but mana is so horrible compared to all the other power mechanics. Slow regen wouldn't matter so much if we didn't go OOM with five or six casts of just about any non-primary spell.
Which I've read, Disintegrate doesn't crit? I see the occasional crits (I believe) from the runed aspect of it. 9 - 10k crits. It's a pretty powerful tool for a Wizard. I can farm Act 1 Inferno with not much of any issues. Act 2 is so damn hard. Even for kiting. Those stupid ass flying bugs that shoot the smaller ones at you. So so lame.
Going to try a new setup when I get home, here's what I'm looking at.
Crippling Wave - Concussion (enemies hit by crippling wave do 20% less damage for 3 seconds)
Inner Sanctuary - Circle of Protection (while standing in the circle you take 35% less damage)
Serenity - Peaceful Repose (healed when activated)
Mantra of Evasion - Hard Target (increases Armor by 20%)
Breath of Heaven - Infused with Light (generate an additional 6 spirit with spirit generating attacks)
Mystic Ally - Air Ally (chance to generate 100 spirit for you)
Passive Skills:
Resolve: Damage you deal reduces enemies damage by 25% for 2.5 secs
Transcendence: You are healed when you spend spirit
Seize the Initiative: Armor is increased by 100% of your Dexterity.
I have Mystic Ally for more or less a shield that can take the focus off me as I wait for my skills to come off their cooldowns. I'll post an update on how this pans out later. I checked the Blizzard forums and apparently Concussion and Resolve weren't working before but are now.. I think. We'll see.

Just finished Act III yesterday (Normal, my first run). Amazing CG. I hope I can beat Act IV tonight and then move to Nightmare. It's been very fun playing as a Monk.
Apparently joining general chat helps fix lag issues?
I'm so confused.
Seriously, folks. Go into General chat. It's improved my ping from regularly being over 300 to around 100ms and no lag spikes. I have no idea why it works, but it does work.
Grenades are overlooked, I quite like them, but they only really shrine with 3+ players.
Their damage is too unreliable against anything moving, caltrops helps but it's a lot of effort.
In co-op grenadier + stun grenades + stun cluster arrow is really really good. You can reduce the incoming damage to melee so much that it can make some fights and bosses trivial on nightmare+
